  1. So glad I've finally been able to read this, after your story'd been playing hide and seek for a few days ... The description of Frankie's life and domain is very touching and the detail really drew me in. It's good that he's happy but sad that his life is so limited in so many ways. How will he manage, out of his familiar milieu? A second installment needed, I think. When you've got nothing better to do ...

    Afterword

I agree with Puppi that the format was an integral part of the story. However, I wonder whether the programming language put people off. I enjoyed the story but found myself skipping through the programming jargon. If someone wasn't sure about the story, I think they'd be put off by it. Some was needed but I wonder if all of it was necessary? Don't be downhearted.

    Surviving

Things have only just got going. There's plenty of scope for action going forward and there's a heck of a lot of possible back story as well. I feel that I've only just been introduced to the characters. So, yes, if you feel moved - more please.
  4. My vote would be to buy a new one - from another manufacturer. For it to be falling over so regularly - well ... Although as Dr Paladin suggests, you may want to think about where and how you use your laptop - if overheating is a connecting theme.
  5. Yep - I'm still having the same problem. I can get my favourite stories (which I don't want) and not my favourite authors (which I do want).
  6. Just thought - this must be one of the shortest ... From my dice prompt The demon and the deep blue sea. "Ahh..." And then the murders began ...
  7. Here's mine. From the start of my entry for the upcoming anthology, The bard's tale. In a bohemian, but run-down house well outside of the castle walls, a bard sits at a table. Then the murders began.

I read the first chapter without any real idea of where it was going. It was intriguing but nothing much else. This chapter is so much better - now we have context, plot,, characters to get attached to ... I'm looking forward to where you're going to take this.
  9. I'm getting near the end of my story - all 15k words of it. It'll be far and away the longest single piece of writing I've produced. Anyone who worked on the test server and saw my test loading of Drewcula, will have some idea of what's coming. Deep and meaningful it ain't ... The Bard's Tale will be part of the Unintended consequences theme. Hopefully, it will be a fun, sometimes romantic read.
  10. Well, you know my relationship with maths ... The first stanza of Imaginary numbers fits me to a T. What I adore though, is the wordplay, the sounds, and the sometimes surreal word pictures conjured up by your wonderful imagination.

    Lame Duck

As I was reading it, I thought it was a dice prompt - though it wasn't mentioned. Wow, you did an amazing job with it. Everybody's response has been so different - some literal, and others not. Yours was particularly inventive and involving. Great stuff.
  12. Hi and welcome, You may want to PM another member, Columbus Guy, who uses narration software with the site. There have been some issues with accessibility since the upgrade apparently and he's probably the best person to talk to regarding this. Otherwise, you could submit a question to the forum thread 'Software upgrade questions and answers'. https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/forum/262-software-upgrade-questions-and-answers/ Bear in mind that not everything is working as it should. Hope this helps.

    Fool Me Once

A beautifully written fable - a comedy of errors with a deserved happy ending. Maybe he does head out west? But I think he'd find it too techie, too app driven ...

    Served Cold

Like almost all the other reviewers, I thought it was a gun or some other weapon in the backpack. The twist at the end was great - fitting, non-violent, and probably highly effective. Good on him.

    Daylight

It's very easy to get so lost in your thoughts that you forget that your expression is a mirror. Somehow, it's not surprising that Scott has that problem ... Wonderful chapter.

    On Vacation

Makes you almost feel sorry for demons, doesn't it? Think of the claims for repetitive strain injury ... I'm pleased you enjoyed it so. Yes, I think I'll be back. Just not sure when.
  18. I'm looking forward to reading more, Drew. An enticing snapshot, indeed.

    On Vacation

I'm really glad you enjoyed this so much, Gary. I do wonder sometimes if my writing is too clipped - not in your book, by the sounds of it. The general vote seems to be for more, so, I think there will be. Only not just yet as I'm already full up ...

    On Vacation

I think he doesn't realise it at the start - it's only later that he starts thinking about Thomas and then misses him. Thanks, Dugh. I'm pleased you liked it

If this tale was wonderfully executed, it was only achieved with your help and encouragement. I'm very happy you enjoyed it.

    On Vacation

Such an interesting series of questions ... I'm glad you found it thought provoking. I think I'll be back sometime, I'm just not sure when.
  23. Whoever chose the sea / ocean as their suggested location, made a good choice. Plenty of scope - which was just as well, given the rest of your prompt. This was such fun, it really made me grin. Excellently done.

    On Vacation

I think most of us would like that sign at one time or another. Hell's website is still getting my creative juices flowing. I'll probably be back but I can't say when as I've already got several things on the go. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it.
