Dear Universe,
Help us to remember
that pain is only temporary.
It may last a minute,
a day,
a year
or even decades.
The tears that come with pain can blind us to the beauty that surrounds us.
Bring us the courage and strength to face what tomorrow brings.
Help us not to be scared to rely upon others.
Help us to accept kindness and help, with grace.
Give us wisdom to know when to say goodbye.

This was one of the first stories I've read on the site. It is a story that I have read and reread many times (i've lost track, 4+) and will again. It is not the usual shifter story and the love story. Great job, Gary!
hey, 1st of all, congratulations! it does get easier (32 years), but like you found out, things can bring the craving out. i understand. but you are winning
these words are more than heartbreaking, they are heart-shattering. pain and loneliness echo in each line. no matter how many tell you "we are here", this place that these words build leave you blind and deaf to the voices. we are here to help, love you, and lend you strength until you can be
