  1. Hey now, I'll slap that smile right off your face!

    Work

I'm so happy Eric finally got some good luck. Great writing, I could smell the bacon and taste the sugarsnaps!
  3. The last time I was sure the author wouldn't kill off one of the mains, @kboismurdered Kage, but you're not that cruel, are you????
  4. That was some super awesome magic splerm!

    A Short Ride

Eric's conversation with the cow shows he is trying to make connections with others, even though he is telling himself not to trust anyone. He hasn't had a positive connection with anyone since his mother, 8 years ago! His instincts are good, I hope he finds at least one person who earns his trust, and doesn't abuse it.

    Konstantin

My 2nd chapter first instincts: Kavan is our hero, caring, helpful, smart. Konstantin is old, strong, rebellious, principled, well-liked. Mother is an evil bitch. She is the enemy. She holds a grudge. Simone is a power hungry sycophant, she is cruel, dangerous, sadistic. Doc is secretly on team Konstantin, but is unable to show it. I'm loving this! Great tension and drama!
  7. Unlike some of the other readers, I didn't get a bad feeling about Ozzie. I wouldn't trust anything that Colin says. The reading to the little girl was nice. Eric could use a lot more nice.
  8. I live in a semi-rural area and would never automatically assume a teenager in shabby clothes walking along a road is homeless. On my 10 minute drive into town (Midwestern steel city of about 50,000 people), I frequently see a person or two that I'm pretty sure are homeless. I've never really thought about those assumptions before. I was also hoping he could forage from an early garden, but our young hero wouldn't know a potato plant from a petunia!

    Houghton

In a way, it's probably good that positive experiences are happening little by little. He can slowly get used to the idea that he is worthy. I think too much all at once might overwhelm him and send him running away.

    My story

Thank you for sharing your personal journey with us. One of my favorite things about your writing is your realistic, authentic characters. They truly seem like real people that could be my friend, cousin, neighbor. Eric was a perfect character because you injected some of yourself into him.

    Church

Eric desperately needed some rest, both mental and physical. This church was a sanctuary for him, as it should be. I'm eager to meet the lifeguard, according to the ch. 1 beginning, he will be important to Eric. But I doubt Eric is ready to trust someone yet.

    Eric

It seems that Stefan has now become Eric, he is becoming a new person not only in name. Stefan's horrible life has had him focused on survival, he hasn't had any time to figure out who he is. Perhaps Eric will start that journey.

    Walk Away

I'm concerned for this unworldly boy out there on his own with $20 and the clothes he is wearing. But I'm so glad that his father is dead. Good luck Stefan!
  14. Great first chapter! I have a feeling that Kavan is right, his brothers won't give up! Are his captors going to be good guys or bad guys? His sire, Konstantin? Looking forward to more.

    Chapter 108

Please let Essell figure out that Bouncer is completely sentient! I hope that Garjah is only drugged.
  16. Thank you for this difficult chapter. I feel like Stefan has hit rock bottom and is starting to emerge. He is taking his survival into his own hands, he was using his brains to escape.

    Catastrophe

I'm desperately hoping that this brutality is the beginning of Stefan's escape from his father! He's going to have to extremely strong to recover from this.
  18. I feel nothing but disgust for Stefan's father. But I can't help but wonder how he and his brother turned into such monsters. We're they abused as kids? I can't imagine Stefan turning out that way, if he were to even survive. How does a college educated man, who managed to find a woman to marry him, found a decent job, have such hatred that he tortures his own son? I have to think he is mentally ill, but I find no sympathy for him. The world is better off without him.

    Noticed

I don't get any sense that Stefan has hope for the future, or even that he deserves anything better. I think that is the saddest thing so far. As for the uncle, I'm betting that piece of garbage was in prison for a while, otherwise poor Stefan's miserable life would have been even worse. Predators rarely give up an easy target unless they have to. Somehow I doubt dear old dad protected him from his brother!

    A Journal

I am just reading based on a recommendation from @weinerdog as well! I loved Double Concerto, I'm not sure how this one slipped through the cracks. I'm sad for Stefan, angry at dad, sad and angry with the school system for letting this poor boy exist in hell for 8 years without anyone noticing or doing anything about it. I agree with an earlier comment that dad most likely killed his mom, then used her "disappearance" as ammunition against him.
  21. I will parrot the other reviewers and call this a "must read". You don't want to miss out on one of the best looks at self-discovery, living with mentally ill family members, and perseverance! Don't let the heavy material scare you off, this is life affirming.

    Chapter 1

I'm finally getting to the anthology stories after investing a lot of time reading 18 Weeks of Twoey by the late great Skinnydragon (122 chapters!). This is one of the best written and most thought provoking stories I've read. You hooked me emotionally when Shay threw away the swim clothes and cried in the shower, hating themselves. I understand more about non-binary people than I ever did before. Thank you!

    September 2050

This was a wonderful dystopian adventure! I agree with most of the readers, climate change will not only change the environment, our reaction to the changes will determine whether our society will survive intact! If we don't cooperate with each other, there is the very real threat that nationalism will thrive and free expression will disappear in many countries. Stories like this will hopefully prove as cautionary tales to keep us on our toes.

    Chapter 28

Ok, which one of you krew members ordered a "bomb cyclone superstorm" for Alaska?! Not cool, man!
  25. Absolutely no offence meant to any other readers, but anyone who has read this entire story and expects Alec to suddenly become an optimist, is probably projecting their own personality onto Alec. He suffers from severe anxiety and depression, he can't just "snap out of it" because his life events are improving. I think this was a great chapter because it showed some realistic give and take between Alec and Finn, the great sex was a bonus! I love Cam & Luke more every chapter.
