People are Friends Not Food
CincyKris commented on Demiurge's story chapter in People are Friends Not Food
I'm all caught up now! So far, this is my favorite of the series! I may have been a tiny bit negative towards Kalian in the first book, ok I hated his weakling, coward little guts! I love strong, badass Kalian, he still has a shiny heart of gold. I think the navy is in for stormy seas! As for Wren's resurrection, obviously his sunny personality was not a side effect of becoming a monster, it was just Wren being Wren. I love Eira, I'm hoping that Kalian and Talon adopt a bunch of weirdly wonderful orphans by the end of the series. -
All in all, I think Alec handled things well. He is having the awareness that he needs to break free of his mother's hold on his mental health, he has been allowing her to take up space in his head and it's time to evict her. As to his dad's financial situation, he may have taken out a second mortgage. How much money did she give to her church?

I feel a little more confident about my guesses after the previous chapter. If Huntington gave a laptop with devastating evidence against him to Elijah's parents -- firstly, he's an idiot (why not a really good safe?), secondly, if the parents hid it, he would have tortured them (or grabbed Elijah for leverage) rather than just shooting them. There is another player in this game! I'm on the bandwagon for The Sentinels to make an appearance. Not just because I want to see a meeting between Sebastian and Kage (almost too much Alpha hotness to handle), but they really need to investigate this huge lead.

It's no wonder that Garjah doesn't think Essell can take care of himself! In Essell's defense, he didn't leave the house until the intruders arrived. The jungle is a better option than confronting the intruders. We get to see Ases shift and Bouncer hunt!!!! We're they under surveillance or did Timok tip them off? I hope for Garjah's sake that Timok is on their side.

I'm starting to feel ...... not quite sorry......maybe slightly empathetic towards Henry. His toxic wife dominated his life and drove away any hope of friends or connection to his son. But, he allowed it to happen. At any point, he could have stood up to her. Hell, he could have been only half a weasel and gone behind her back to reestablish connections. I do know that an older (60's?) man with no friends and no other family to care about him Is sad. Is he redeemable, is he willing to change his entire way of thinking? Only Alec and Henry can figure that out. Thumbs up to Finn for being a good boyfriend, and to River for being the best friend ever!

I was surprised that @travlbugwas the first commenter to write the same thought I had. Why shoot first instead of interrogating? The same could be asked of the parents' murder, there was no evidence of torture. If they care so much about the laptop, they are going about finding it in a very odd way. Could there be more than one group doing the searching/killing (besides Kage and his boss)?

I'm proud of Alec for being there and for asking his closest friends for help. Just the fact that he recognized the need for help is an accomplishment. My sad emoji was sad for alec , not for his mom. It may be a vindictive streak I have, but I think that there are consequences for being a miserable person. Dying doesn't suddenly make you a good person. I have no sympathy for the lady attached to the legs in the bed. It brings to mind the cliche, "you made your bed, now lie in it".

Whichever of the Kardoval is responsible is hopefully not in charge of education or defense, cause they kinda suck! I could have planned a better assault, and that's a pretty low bar! It's a shame that Bouncer didn't get to eat the guy, since he committed coma-cide anyway.

Fragment 15: Relativity
CincyKris commented on ColumbusGuy's story chapter in Fragment 15: Relativity
Thank you for the update! I think I'm going to do a reread, as I started this a few years ago on another site. I distinctly remember that Harman has an unusual genetic code that drew the attention of his great uncle. Will that be popping up in the storyline soon? Will it draw (or has already drawn) unwanted attention? I really enjoy this unique world you have created. -
Chapter 21: Conspiring Chairman

Ok, you are making me uncomfortable with your knowledge of the twinky fake shifters! -
Chapter 21: Conspiring Chairman
CincyKris commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 21: Conspiring Chairman
Lots going on in this chapter. I'm looking forward to the confrontation/resolution with Kaplan's parents. I'm happy for Dave and Stacy, Dave is handling her turning with smarts, as befitting a good Beta. We are adding yet another piece to the N.Y. puzzle, where exactly do the vampires fit? I think an immediate withdrawal for Wagner would raise suspicion, doing more harm than good. It makes me question the head vamp's motivation. Since I beat @drsawzallto the party, I'll leave you with my favorite quote: Where luck lies, mischief rests in its shadow. -
Was Dad being blackmailed, or could he have just stumbled upon some sensitive intel and downloaded it onto the laptop? Could Dad be the blackmailer? Was he trying to protect his son? Do we know if his parents were aware of his shapeshifter status? Did Dad know his boss was a shifter? Was Mom or Dad a shifter? Do non-animal shifters have “true” mates? That’s all I have for now!

I agree completely with @Carlos Hazday, I really want a visit back at Pinnacle Hold after they are dragonriders! I hope that dad lives just long enough to see his son and his boyfriend exalted as heroes.

Late to the party again! Stupid job! I like Kage, he's got that hot, rouguish vibe. As a shadow shifter he can get into tight, dark spaces!

It's become obvious, even to Essell who can be a bit oblivious, that Bouncer can understand everything that Essell says. And as far as Essell saying things, he was a little more like whiney old Essell in this chapter. I'm glad he let Bouncer take his food with him. I still think he should be allowed to help with the interrogation!

Chapter 20: Shaky Stalkers
CincyKris commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 20: Shaky Stalkers
So does Sheila have a beef with Snyder? Could she be a cop or government do-gooder looking into Snyder's activities with rental units? A rival? I'm guessing not a shifter, or why would she send the two dimwits? The new enforcer could be a problem, I wonder why Cyrus chose him?- 29 comments

I had the week from hell, storms knocked out power to home and work for a day and a half. My full freezers got cleaned out, contents moved, contents moved back. Temperature was about 95°. Most of my followed authors posted. I'm catching up today. I believe some grilled salmon and cheap wine is in my forecast tonight!

They could be the gay Ghostbusters! I love it!

I loved this mystery, I felt like I was watching a series on BBC AMERICA! I was surprised to find out that Trevor and Jack were an item, but I was right about it being Trevor down the well and Bob the Builder being involved. I enjoyed the realistic pace and will miss our weekly guessing games. I certainly wouldn't object to visiting with these friends again in a few years!

The notification of this posting got lost amid all the notifications of another story I'm following, I'm so glad I found it! This is absolutely my favorite sci-fi series! You are weaving a very complex web of players effectively, without getting lost in the details. I also enjoy the realistic take on humans, as opposed to more idyllic one most often used in futuristic novels. The in-fighting on Earth amidst the fighting a genocidal enemy above earth, reminds me of what we are doing now in real life. We have people fighting amongst ourselves while we could unite against a common enemy (like global warming for instance). This unfortunately is probably exactly how we would react in the future! Can't wait to see how Shay, Mira, and Elia will handle the new Herald. Will they use Shay's new gifts from Dagen?

Exciting start! I already want to know more.

I am very glad you survived all that! I had much more positive experiences watching sports. Although I'm epically bad at playing them!
