Tristan Rader and Gavin Munson met as four-year-olds and almost immediately became best friends. However, their time together ended the summer before fifth grade when Gavin’s father got a new job and his family moved away. As the pair grew older, their paths would cross and bring them together in unexpected ways, only to have fate intercede and cause them to lose contact yet again. Will the journey of life win in the end or will fate triumph? Only time will tell.

These are some poems I wrote about a time in my life in my mid-teens, that was both painful and scarey for a young boy. I was facing both death and rejection. My grandfather had a lake we would go to and fish. But there were times I would go alone to just think and sort through everything happening in my life. This is my way of saying that if we would just stop and think our way through things, there is no mountain we cannot climb or no goal we cannot reach.

Liebe, a young girl living in the Florida Keys with her two fathers, spends a lot of time outdoors, interacting with nature. For her science class project, Liebe makes a presentation about coral reefs, the dangers they face, and what can be done to save them.

One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl and four for a boy.

Five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told.

I am sure many of you, like me, learned this children's nursery rhyme about magpies. According to an old superstition, the number of magpies seen predicts whether you will have good or bad luck. Something I came across subsequently, was the existence of many variations on this rhyme, some more sinister than the children’s version.

One of those is incorporated into this short story about boyhood abuse.

Wyatt is a troubled Middle School student. When the recent effects of bullying come to head in a brutal act of rage, everyone is left wondering why such a sweet child would do such a thing. Then for the first time in his life, and his parents, someone on the school board listens.

What happens when you don't enjoy the life you have? When you don't see the beauty in anything? Well for one servant it is the chance to change his life, for a King it is the opportunity for a wife and a child, for a Queen the chance to have it all, and for child to be blessed and cursed. Another twisted retelling of a Grimm's Fairy Tale.
