Ben Miller is a paralegal with the Hennepin County District Attorney's office and he has an unpleasant task, returning a runaway boy home to a tiny town in northern Minnesota. The teen, Clay Taukkala's, behavior is a little strange and so Ben asks his boyfriend, Rush Romer, to ride with on this road trip. They begin delving into the boy's emotional reactions and discover the real story about what happened to him. Not everything is as it seems.

In the process, Orin learns that sometimes when you go away to find yourself, you leave the answers you're looking for behind.

Young Martin has been staring at the beautiful boy who's high school locker is located just across the hall from his own. But today, with a note that he wrote and a shaky moment of confidence, Martin has decided to let the boy know how he feels.

Joel is the odd man out on his cross country team. He's the only sophomore on the team and he's never spent more than an hour or two of practice with the other guys. Now he's been tapped to run in the district qualification meet and that means an overnight trip with the team. He knows he can run just as well as anyone else, but what happens when the race is over?

I guess it was my own fault for getting mixed up with the wrong crowd, Jimmy, Toddy, Hog and me, we had been sort of friends since entering year eight in high school, I didn’t smoke tobacco or weed like they did, nor did I drink alcohol, and my school mates seem to accept that, and still let me hang out with them at night on weekends.

Now at the age of 15, I was now being processed to enter a juvenile detention centre for a period of 3 years, for the brutal killing of an elderly man with a baseball bat, the same bat that my mates and I had been using for over a year now in the warehouse, and that’s how they found my prints on the bat.

Now he just has to find them — something he hasn't managed in the six years since his ex-wife kidnapped them.
