A young man inherits a house that has ties to the past

The Boot three years on. There have been some changes and improvements to The Boot, partly thanks to fund raising and charitable donations, and in part thanks to Christian Edwards benefactor to The Boot. Some 'guests' have moved on, some remaining homeless, but others having been helped are now in independent accommodation either working or looking for work. This is the continued story of The Boot, it's staff and 'guests.'

It is not necessary to read The Boot beforehand but it may help to understand some of what is happening now and in its future.

In the homophobic atmosphere of Sydney during the Roaring Twenties, gay policeman Constable Paddy Langdon was anxious to avoid any deep emotional commitments. Then he met a young man at a seedy Turkish Bathhouse and they fell deeply in love. Gang violence had become an issue, intensifying when gangs began to use a cheap barbers razor as a weapon of choice; this deadly item being used to cut, mutilate and kill rivals.

In this story we will find out what happened to Nick's friend Tony.

My first novel, previously published in Dutch but now translated.

It is the story of three gay travellers in Scotland, immediately after the Great War.

It is about double discrimination, about flowering and gradually subsiding love, of exploitation of tenants by the local gentry and of over-zealous clerics, but also about the development into adulthood against the background of a slowly changing society.

After losing his wife to illness, a decorated war hero is determined to keep his family together, but his parenting skills are tested during the summer break by financial restraints, an increasing reliance on alcohol, and the discovery that his eldest son is gay.

“The Rashomon Effect” describes an event given contradictory descriptions by each person involved. It describes the unreliability of eyewitnesses. Every element of the story is largely identical, but the dishonest retelling of the events shows each person’s ideal self by lying.

Gay lawyer Ben Carleson – from In The Plan – is back, this time in 1985, near the beginning of his career and soon after he finished law school and passed the California bar exam. But he and Gene De Wijk met over a different kind of bar.

Visiting the town where he went to college, a closeted man enters a gay bar on his 50th birthday and is given a special drink with life-changing properties.

We’ll return to „Syllables & Sounds”, that small book- and record store in the Main Street of a small rural town on the lake’s shore in North Vermont. Does history repeat itself, does it only seem to re-appear in small variations or are revolutions to be expected?
