Johnny Breeze & Me - 26. Start Spreadin' the News

The wedding is less than a week away, and it's time to get ready for the Big Apple! Daniel finds himself the focus of some major flirting from a classmate, and has trouble dealing with it. We get to see some more great parenting from Jason and Johnny as they easily fall into their roles as a dad to a teenage son.
We're getting close to the end of the story. You might want to stock up on tissue! Fair Warning. You're Welcome.
-Geoff

Johnny and I finally crawled into bed just before midnight. What an incredible day! The events of the day hit both of us at the same time as Johnny and I started to cry as we were holding each other softly. I looked into my lover’s eyes as he slowly shook his head.

“Jesus, Jason—I can’t believe you were able to pull all that off with the adoption! You are amazing.”

“No, we just have an amazing family. I just made a couple of phone calls and brought all the pieces together. It’s just what I do every day at the theatre. I just put those skills to use here at home. The hard part was not letting on. If you only knew how badly I wanted to run down the main street of The Domain and shout to the world that we had a new boy to call our son.”

“It was perfect. You are perfect!” Johnny leaned in to kiss me with as much passion as he did that very first time in the loft. He smiled at me as he reached back and untied the strap around his luxurious ponytail. I love it when he does that, as it means he’s going to make love to me.

Johnny rolled me over onto my back as he lay on top of me and continued the kissing. Our cocks were hardening next to each other. He kissed my neck and every other sensitive spot on my body, knowing that by the time his tongue started working my hole, I would be begging for him to fill me with his huge cock.

And fill me he did. This time it was a long and slow session of passionate love-making—no wild fucking. As Johnny slowly slid in and out of my trembling ass, he never stopped kissing me—well, except to tell me how much he loved me. It was a night of pure, unadulterated passion.

After depositing a huge load deep inside me, he stayed where he was as he slowly worked my cock between us. We were still kissing as my cock deposited a load between our sweat-slicked bodies. After a quick rinse in the shower, we made our way back to bed, and in no time, I fell asleep with my fiancé’s arms wrapped around me.

The next morning, I woke up excited, knowing that my mom would be arriving later in the afternoon. She hasn’t been to Texas since Cade’s adoption and the drama that followed. It’s just going to be nice to have her here under happier circumstances. When I called her yesterday to make her flight arrangements, she insisted on arriving today to meet her newest grandson.

Honestly, I was thrilled. It will be great having a hand with the boys while we got Footloose opened, made the final wedding plans, and held auditions for Assassins.

Footloose was a dream of a rehearsal process. Our guest director was perfection, and JJ’s choreography was clever and energetic. The entire cast and crew loved Kenny. We were able to move the final dress rehearsal to the afternoon to accommodate Daniel’s party. Today is known as Wednesday-Chill-Day. We give the cast the day and night before opening the day off. At first, I thought that was just plain dumb, but after a couple of shows, I saw that the opening nights went much better, and the air of excitement was much more significant.

I eased myself out of Johnny’s arms and made my way into the kitchen to start breakfast. Today was going to be scrambled eggs with sliced smoked sausage, hash browns, and English muffins. Once the coffee started to brew, Johnny made his way out to the kitchen, as did Daniel and Alex. As the boys exited their room, I asked them to wake up Cade. Daniel said Cade was already up and was in the bathroom.

In less than fifteen minutes, the entire family was sitting out on the patio as Daniel was saying grace once again. “God, it’s me again. I hope it’s okay for me to thank you again for letting me get adopted by the most amazing pair of dads a boy could wish for. And thank you for a totally awesome little brother. Thank you for showing me how many friends I truly have, and thank you, especially for bringing Alex to me. Bless this food, this family, and the people we love. Amen.”

We all responded with an “Amen” and dug into breakfast. The conversation was light and fun. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Daniel smile through an entire meal the way he did for this one. Alex was fitting in beautifully, and Cade couldn’t slip the words “big brother” into the conversation enough.

I asked everyone what their plans were for the day. Daniel was going shopping with Kenny. Johnny only needed to run into the theatre to go over a few notes with his light board operator. Cade said JJ had invited him and Connor over for some dance time in the studio. Alex said he was going to try to get as many pools done as possible before we left for New York on Monday. I reminded Johnny and the boys that we needed to leave at 3:00 for the airport to pick up my mother.

About 10:00, the doorbell rang, and Kenny had arrived. Daniel was still in the shower, so I took Kenny out to the garage. “I think you should take Daniel’s car. I don’t want him driving on the highway yet, but he does have his license. If you want to let him drive around the mall roads and parking lot, that would be great. He’s probably going to need to practice parallel parking, so find a corner of the parking lot and let him try it a bit—just no crazy shit, okay?”

“You got it, Jason.” Kenny leaned in and gave me a light kiss.

“So how was last night? You seem to be walking just fine!”

“Good God! Those boys are hot as fuck in the sack! I think we fucked and sucked for four hours last night—and then again this morning.”

“Did they give you the special sauna treatment?”

“Holy shit! You know about that, huh? They were doing stuff to me that I never imagined possible. I’m still straight, though. It’s just that when I’m around five certain guys, I can’t help myself!” He smiled and blushed.

“Five? JJ, Zach, Johnny, me, and—??”

Kenny leaned in to me and whispered as he grabbed my cock. “You’ll see Mr. Richardson—all in good time.”

The boys were on their way to their different destinations, so Johnny and I headed to the theatre. We walked into the front door and were greeted by the always-smiling Margaret. “How nice! The two best-looking men in Austin are here together!”

She got up from her desk and gave each of us a hug. “Johnny, Eric is up in the booth waiting for you. Jason, there’s a delivery I had put on your desk. It’s so good seeing you both! And congratulations on the new addition to your family!”

“Wow! Word travels quickly around here, doesn’t it?”

“Jason, it’s my job to know everything that happens around the Rosemont!”

She chuckled and moved back to her desk. I just looked at her, confused, wondering how she knew already. Noticing the look on my face, she cleared things up.

“Kenny and Daniel stopped by on their way to the mall. He needed to grab a bag out of his dressing room.”

“Ahh, that makes sense now. I know you’re good, Margaret, but this time I was totally confused as to how you knew so soon!”

“Well, all I know is what I see—and if that beautiful young man were any happier, he would just explode all over the place! You two have got to be the most loving and generous men I’ve ever met. And I, for one, am so thrilled that you are going to be married next week.”

“Thank you, Margaret. Sometimes I look back on the past year and can’t believe all that has happened.”

“Just remember, Jason—all the good—and the not-so-good—that happened with you and your family are what makes what’s happening now even more wonderful. Some of the things y’all had thrown at you, I wouldn’t wish on my harshest enemy. But you’ve taken the good—and especially the bad—and made a wonderful life for you, Johnny, and those two adorable boys.”

I looked at her with a huge smile. “Okay, I need to get to work before I end up a blubbering mess right here in the lobby. David Williams should be here within the next ten minutes or so. Just send him back to my office if you would.”

“Will do, Jason. Have a great morning!”

I walked into the office, and the first thing I noticed was a beautiful flower arrangement. I opened the card and began reading.

Here’s to a wonderful opening night. I can’t wait to get to Austin and begin work.

If half of what Kenny tells me is true, I just might be in for the time of my life!

-Nick L.

My cock did a little dance as I wondered what in the Hell Kenny had told Nick. My vivid imagination took over as I imagined Nick being the fifth person Kenny was talking about. Fortunately, my vision was interrupted when David knocked on the door. We went right to work on the auditions that were to begin tonight.

Just as David and I were finishing up our business, Johnny knocked lightly on the door and came in. He was done with Eric, and seeing that it was already 1:00, we decided to head home. We stopped at In and Out on the way and grabbed a quick lunch.

We got home by 1:45 and found Cade in the kitchen fixing himself a sandwich. “Hey there, little man, how was the dance lesson?”

“Awesome! Uncle JJ taught us more Fosse stuff. We had so much fun!”

“Excellent! when you finish lunch, go upstairs and get ready to head to the airport. We’re going to pick up your Gramma and then go out to dinner. Sound good?”

“Yeah, that sounds great! Where are we going for dinner?”

“I haven’t decided yet. What do you think we should do?”

“Since Daniel seems to be able to eat some things besides Italian food, how about we go to P.F. Chang’s and have some Chinese food?”

“Awesome! And they have stuff on the menu that would be good for Daniel if he feels like taking it easy.”

I got on the phone and made a reservation for 5:30 just as Daniel and Kenny walked in loaded down with bags. “Wow! Is there anything left at the mall?”

“Dad! Kenny and I had the best time! He helped me get the coolest clothes, and then we had lunch at Fuddrucker’s. Then he took me to a corner of the parking lot and practiced driving! He taught me how to parallel park!”

He headed up the stairs with his bags, just repeating, “So cool! So Cool!” on the way to his room.

I shouted up after him, “Do you need any help putting things away?”

“No, I got it, Dad. Thanks!”

Kenny sat down at the breakfast bar. “Jason, Johnny—that is one amazing kid. We talked about everything under the sun. He’s super intelligent. He knows what’s going on in the world. He’s so comfortable in his own skin. I think you hit the kid lottery with this one!”

Johnny handed Kenny a cup of coffee. “I just hope Daniel doesn’t grow up too fast. He’s still a kid in so many ways but seems to be handling everything in a very adult way.”

“He gets that from the adults in his life. He told me how happy he was that you guys don’t treat him like a kid. He’s blown away by the openness and honesty in your home. He commented on how that makes life so much easier for everyone. You also might want to know that Alex is treating him with the same kind of respect. Daniel said he’s not quite ready for full-out sex, and Alex promises to wait until he’s ready.”

I sat down at the breakfast bar with my own cup of coffee. “Kenny, you don’t have to tell us everything you guys talked about. Daniel looks up to you as a big brother, so he’s probably more open to sharing things with you than he might be with us. I don’t want you to betray that trust with him.”

“Don’t worry, dude. There’s plenty I’m not sharing with you!” Kenny winked at me, and we all laughed a bit.

Johnny asked, “Kenny, do you and the boys have dinner plans? We’re picking up Jason’s mother at the airport and are having dinner downtown at P.F. Chang’s.”

“That’s a great idea, Johnny! Mom loves the guys and will be more than a little smitten with you, Kenny!”

Kenny texted JJ and waited for an answer, which came almost immediately. They were in for dinner. I told Kenny they should meet us at 5:30 downtown, and I called to change the reservation.

At 3:00, I looked up to the balcony as a very handsome and extremely cool-looking boy walked out of Daniel’s room. He was wearing purple skinny jeans, red Vans, a red V-neck t-shirt, a tan canvas messenger bag, and some cool shades.

“Excuse me,” I shouted up to the boy upstairs. “What have you done with my son?”

Daniel giggled as he headed down the stairs. “You like?”

Johnny’s mouth was hanging open, and his eyes wide. “Daniel, you look amazing! very cool, I might add!”

“Thanks! It feels so different, but I like how the look makes me feel—kinda like I can face anything the world throws at me! Oh! And Kenny bought me the shades. He said I needed to complete the look.”

I looked at Johnny and said, “You know, we’re gonna have to get Cade a pair of shades now. He’ll want to be cool, too.”

Daniel reached into his bag and pulled out a smaller pair of the same glasses with purple frames. “Kenny bought Cade a pair too, and in his favorite color!”

Just then, Cade was making his way down the stairs. He was dressed in jeans, his favorite purple polo shirt, and his blue Vans. “Wow, Daniel! You look hot! It’s a good thing Alex isn’t with us. He wouldn’t be able to keep his hands to himself!”

Daniel called Cade over to him and gave him the shades from Kenny. “Wow! These are so cool! And they’re purple!”

He put the shades on and looked as cool as his new big brother. “Cade, why don’t you send a text over to Uncle JJ and thank Kenny for your gift?”

Cade pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and did just that. Johnny gathered the boys in his arms and had a father moment with them. “Boys, one thing about the shades. As cool as they are, you don’t wear them indoors. It looks like you are trying too hard to be cool—and you don’t need to try to be cool at all—either of you. And I’m betting your schools have rules about that, too. So, when you’re indoors, just pull the shades up on your head, hang them from your shirt, or just keep them in your backpacks, okay?”

Both boys chimed in, “Okay. No problem.”

With that, we made our way to the Flex and were on our way to the airport. The boys played games on their iPhones as we fought the infamous Austin traffic. At about 4:15, we were parking the car in the garage right across from the arrivals terminal.

We stood at the bottom of the escalator and only had to wait about ten minutes before I saw Mom step on at the top. Cade couldn’t contain himself and shouted out, “Gramma! Gramma!” Mom was beaming from ear to ear when she saw us. When she made it to the bottom of the escalator, she gathered me in her arms. “Hello, son! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you look so happy!”

She kissed me on the cheek, moved to Johnny, and gave him a warm hug. “Thank you, Johnny, for making Jason so happy.”

She looked over at Daniel, placed her hands on his shoulders, and looked him up and down. “You must be Daniel. My, what a handsome young man you are!” She pulled him in for a hug.

“It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Richardson.”

“Nonsense! You’re my new grandson. You can call me Gramma just like Cade does!”

“I would like that, Mis—Gramma. I would really like that a lot!”

She then knelt and gathered Cade in her arms. “I know, I know—you decided to save the best for last!”

“Oh, you are a little smarty-pants!” She held him out at arm’s length. “It’s so nice to see you without that cast on your arm!”

We made our way to the baggage carousel, and as soon as it started moving, Johnny asked Daniel to go with him to get the SUV. “We’ll meet you at door #2, okay?”

I leaned in to Johnny and whispered, “Why are you taking Daniel? Are you going to let him drive?”

“Just to the door. I don’t want him driving on the highway during rush hour yet.”

I smiled and nodded. Mom pointed to her bags as they appeared on the carousel, and in about ten minutes, we made our way out door #2.

As soon as we walked out the door, the SUV made its way to the curb as smooth as silk. A beaming Daniel got out of the driver’s side after he popped open the hatch on the back. Johnny met him in the back and told him he did great. “You did a great job, Daniel! I’m going to drive to the restaurant since it’s rush hour, but maybe you can drive us home, okay?”

“Really, Pop? You’d let me drive the whole family?”

“Why not? You had a lot of practice with your Mom before you came to us. I think you can handle it—unless you don’t think you—”

“I can handle it! I’ll be really safe, too!”

We got the luggage loaded into the back of the SUV. Daniel sat in the front seat with Johnny while Mom and I sat in the second seat. Cade sat in the third seat and busied himself with his iPhone.

Fortunately, the traffic was not quite as bad driving into downtown as it was in the lanes leaving downtown. We made it to the restaurant just in time—with just five minutes to spare. We dropped the SUV off at the valet parking, and I noticed Johnny giving the claim ticket to Daniel, which made him beam. He put the ticket in his messenger bag.

JJ, Zach, and Kenny were in the waiting area when we arrived, and the cute host smiled as he saw us walk in. “Your table is ready—if you’ll follow me.”

He couldn’t keep his eyes off Daniel. As we were sitting down, he asked, “You go to McCallum, don’t you?”

“Yeah, I do. I’m Daniel.”

“I thought so. You looked familiar, but you look different now. I mean, you look great!”

Daniel blushed and looked down. “Thanks, umm—”

“Oh! Adam. Adam Moore.”

“Cool, maybe I’ll see you around school.”

“I’d like that!” Adam walked away and back to the host stand as Daniel blushed even more.

Johnny looked at our son and said, “You might want to get used to the extra attention. You really do look good, and now that you are so happy, it just makes you look even better.”

“But Pop, he was coming on to me! How do I handle that?”

“Maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t. Maybe he just wants to be friends. He didn’t ask you out on a date, did he?”

“No, I guess not.”

“So, don’t be afraid of people who introduce themselves to you. One can never have enough friends.”

“But what if we become friends, and then he asks me to go out?”

“Then you tell him that you definitely want to be friends, but you already have a wonderful boyfriend. If he’s a true friend, he will accept that, and you will continue as friends.”

Mom reached across the table and took Daniel’s hand. “You know, Daniel, I remember having this exact conversation with your Dad. Times have changed, but then again, in some ways, they haven’t so much. You listen to your dads. They will never lead you the wrong way.”

Dinner was wonderful, as usual. I noticed that Daniel could eat more solid food. While we were eating, Daniel told Mom all about his birthday party and how the pool turned into family court. He showed her the bracelet Alex had given him, and then both Cade and he showed her their new “family” medallions. “Those are lovely, boys!”

Tears were coming to her eyes as she looked over at me. “You know, you and Johnny should have a medallion, too.”

“You know Mom, you’re right! I’ll have to do that tomorrow.”

“No, you’ll let me take care of that tomorrow. It will be my wedding gift to the two of you.”

Johnny paid the check and gave the keys to the SUV to Daniel. “Son, why don’t you go to the valet and get the car?”

Daniel was beaming and leaned in to kiss Johnny on the cheek. He got up and headed out. As he got to the host stand, I noticed Adam gave him a piece of paper. They talked for a few seconds, and Daniel smiled and nodded before he walked out the front door. The rest of us got up and made our way to the door.

The three hosts gave us a genuine and hearty farewell as we walked by, and the car pulled up to the front just as we were walking out the door. Johnny tipped the valet and got in the front passenger seat. A beaming and confident Daniel got into the driver’s seat as we all took our own seats.

Johnny was great with Daniel, giving him directions and helping him navigate his way home without getting on the highways. I was so proud of our boy. He remained calm for the entire trip and proved he was an excellent driver. Johnny had Daniel pull up into the front of the house, and we all got out and grabbed Mom’s bags.

The last time Mom was in town, we were closing on the house, and she never had a chance to see it. Needless to say, she was blown away and thoroughly enjoyed Cade’s tour. While Cade was showing Mom around the house, I sat at the breakfast bar with Daniel and Johnny. “Daniel, you did an excellent job driving us home. Tomorrow morning, Mom and I are going to The Domain to get medallions, and if you’d like, you can drive us.”

“Really? But I would have to drive on the highway for that. Are you sure?”

“I think you’ll do just fine, son. I’m proud of you!”

Daniel reached over and kissed me on the cheek. “I love you, Dad!” He then kissed Johnny. “I love you, Pop!”

Once Cade finished showing Mom around the house, he decided to go up to his room and play some video games. Daniel said he wanted to go to his room to chill a bit and left the three adults to enjoy some fresh-brewed iced tea out by the pool.

DANIEL

I can’t believe Pop let me drive the family home! It was so cool, and everyone stayed calm. I wasn’t nervous about driving, probably since I was so happy. It’s so strange. Just when I feel like I couldn’t be a part of the family any more than I am, something comes along, and it just makes me feel so much closer.

I decided to go up to my room and get online, so I could check my Facebook. I was settled down at the computer when I got a text from Alex.

POOLBOYALEX: hi baby, miss u

DANIELSWIMS15: alex! i love u

POOLBOYALEX: sup?

DANIELSWIMS15: not much. in my room.

POOLBOYALEX: ooooh! wish i was there with you!

DANIELSWIMS15: me 2. so horny for my man

POOLBOYALEX: you’re always horny!

DANIELSWIMS15: i’m 17! of course I am.

POOLBOYALEX: skype?

DANIELSWIMS15: sure. hold on.

I fired up the Skype link on my laptop and called Alex. Holy shit! He was totally naked and stroking his hard cock! He smiled at me and said I had too many clothes on. I told him we had to be quiet because Cade was up, and my grandmother was here. He told me to put on my earbuds, but after I stripped for him.

I decided to tease him a bit. I stood back so he could see my new look. He told me he loved the skinny jeans, especially since he could see the outline of my hard cock in the front. I pulled off my t-shirt, turned around as I opened my jeans, and began to lower them. He really liked my sexy new Andrew Christian briefs. They were like a Creamsicle orange color with light blue trim. I turned around and showed him how my cock was sticking out over the waistband.

I moved the laptop over to my bed and lay down so Alex could get a good view. Just then, he grabbed his phone and began dialing. Good thing it was me he was calling! “God, Daniel, you are so damned hot!”

“Why did you call?”

“So we can talk to each other quietly while we get off.”

“Mmmmm—phone sex with a visual bonus. I love my kinky man!”

“I love my sexy boy!”

Alex asked me to hold on, and he rolled off the bed and dug through the drawer of his nightstand. When he got back to his bed, he said, “I have something special I want to show you.”

I was both shocked and excited when he held up a dildo! “Alex! You have a dildo?”

“I got it the other day when I went shopping. It’s almost the same size as you.”

“Wow!”

My cock started dripping when I saw Alex put the dildo in his mouth and started to suck it deep down his throat. It was wild!

“Baby, I wish that was me in your mouth!”

“Me too, Daniel. But that isn’t what I want to show you.”

“Oh?”

“I know you want to wait, but when you’re ready, this is what I really want!”

Alex opened a bottle of lube and began to cover the dildo. He then spread his legs and put some on his smooth hole. I thought my cock was going to explode when Alex shifted on the bed so I could see him slowly ease the dildo into his hole. I watched him spread his legs wider as he pushed more and more in. He had placed his phone by his head, and I could hear him panting and moaning with pleasure.

“Oh fuck, Alex! That is so hot!”

“I can’t wait for the real thing, baby!”

I started to slowly stroke my leaking cock as Alex began to fuck himself with the artificial one. I placed my phone by my ear so I could play with my tight hole.

I heard Alex say, “Oh baby, I love your ass. So muscular and smooth!”

I knew I wasn’t going to last long. I leaned my face down towards the phone. “Baby, I’m gonna nut real soon!”

“Cum with me, Daniel!”

I watched Alex push the dildo in hard as he held his cock straight up. In just seconds, he had a fountain of cum flying all over the place, and that set me over the edge as my cock let loose with six jets of hot cum. Oh, fuck! I can’t believe I came so hard! It was on my face, in my hair, and all over my chest. There were even a couple of drops on my iPhone!

We grabbed our cum towels and cleaned up. I picked up the phone. “Damn, Alex! That was totally hot!”

“Well, if I can’t be with the boy I love, I figured this would be a nice substitute.”

“So, when Kenny took me out shopping this morning, we stopped by a clinic. I got my test, and all’s good!”

“Sweet! I just had mine done this afternoon. I’m good, too—totally neg!”

“That’s awesome, Alex! I’m so ready to make complete love to you—and have you inside me, too!”

“Are you sure, baby?”

“Yep, but the only thing I’m surer of is how much I love you!”

Just then, there was a knock on my door. I covered myself and slid under the blankets. “Come in!”

Cade came in and said Dad was back from auditions and brought home some dessert and wanted to know if I wanted some—it’s chocolate cheesecake!

He looked at the pile of clothes on the floor and said, “You might want to put those on before you come down!”

He giggled and closed the door. I told Alex I needed to do some family time, and I would call him later tonight.

“I love you, sexy boy!”

“I love you more, Alex!”

We hung up and closed the Skype connection. I quickly dressed and went into the bathroom to make sure I didn’t have any cum hanging in my hair. Glad I checked! There was a glob right above my ear! I cleaned up and made my way downstairs.

The cheesecake was fantastic, and it was nice sitting around the pool. Gramma told us stories about Dad when he was our age. I think it’s fun watching Dad blush.

When we finished dessert, Cade and I picked up the plates and took them into the kitchen to load them into the dishwasher. While we were rinsing off the dishes, Cade looked up to me and mentioned that the glob of cum was gone from my hair. It was my turn to blush.

“Geez, Daniel. I can’t wait `til I can make the white stuff!”

“Little bro, when that time comes, you’re gonna be rubbin’ that dick of yours so much it’ll fall off!”

“Doubt that! But I’ll sure be trying!”

Cade giggled as we walked back out to the patio. We told the grown-ups we were going to the media room to watch some television and said our goodnights.

JASON

I woke up the next morning at about 8:00 to a wonderful smell. Mom was making her breakfast casserole, and I smiled like I was a twelve-year-old boy! I got dressed and eased out of bed. I walked into the kitchen, kissed Mom good morning, and asked her how she was able to make the casserole. It had to be prepped hours ahead of time and then set up in the fridge.

She said she napped on the plane, and that made it hard for her to fall asleep. She was in the kitchen prepping the casserole at 1:30 in the morning. I hate that she had trouble sleeping, but I sure was glad we were going to have my favorite breakfast!

I started the coffee. Soon, Johnny and Cade made their appearance. Mom poured Cade a glass of orange juice while Johnny and I enjoyed a cup of coffee with Mom.

A very sleepy Daniel finally appeared with a terrible case of bedhead. He poured himself a cup of coffee and joined us at the breakfast bar. As Cade finished his juice, he offered to set the table out on the patio. Daniel got up to help him, and in no time, the table was set and ready to go.

Not five minutes later, the buzzer on the oven went off, and Mom pulled the casserole out. She covered it with foil so it could rest for fifteen minutes. We refreshed our coffees, poured another cup of juice for Cade, and headed out to the patio with the casserole, toast, butter, and orange marmalade.

Daniel said grace, and we all enjoyed a delicious breakfast with lots of chatter and laughing. As the boys were clearing the dishes, I noticed Mom tearing up. Yes, I get that trait from her!

“You know, Jason, when you told me you were gay, I was so proud of you for summoning up the courage to tell me. But I must confess that after you ended the call, I cried a bit. I was so sad that you would never be able to get married and have a family. And here we are—enjoying breakfast with you and your family as we get ready to fly to New York for your wedding! My, have times changed! I couldn’t be happier. I can only imagine how happy you are! But then, I see it in your eyes and in the smile on your face that just doesn’t seem to disappear.

“And, might I add, you have a family that would be the envy of everyone I know. You have two beautiful boys who adore both of you, and even more importantly—respect you. When you told me about Daniel, I was so concerned that you were going to be in for a difficult time. But after spending time with him, I see a boy who is happy, content, and head-over-heels in love with his new family.”

Johnny now had tears in his eyes. “Thanks, Mom. Jason and I are so blessed to have found each other and the boys. So blessed.”

Mom gathered both of us in her arms and pulled us in for a teary hug.

Daniel walked out to the patio and announced that the dishes were all in the dishwasher, and the kitchen was clean. “Why are you guys crying? I think we’ve had enough of that around here. We need to be happy!”

I smiled up at Daniel and said, “That’s why we are crying. We are all happy beyond belief!”

“Well, dry your eyes, and let’s get a move on! We’re leaving in an hour to go to The Domain, and everyone needs to shower and get dressed. Cade is showering now, and I’m in right after him!”

Daniel turned around and went back into the house, giggling the whole time. I looked at Johnny with wide eyes. “Well! I think our boy is over his confidence issues. I think we’ve created a monster!”

Mom smacked my arm. “Nonsense! Didn’t you see him giggling all the way back in the house? I don’t think he believed he was able to pull that off!”

We gathered our cups and headed back into the house. Mom was blown away at how clean the kitchen was. “What’s your secret? I couldn’t get Jason to rinse his dishes after a meal, let alone clean the entire kitchen!”

“Apparently, Daniel was raised that if adults cooked a meal for you, it was your responsibility to clean up afterward as a gesture of appreciation.”

Mom was stunned. “You have no idea how lucky you are!”

We all headed into our rooms to shower and dress for the day. In about 45 minutes, we were all ready. Daniel was wearing light blue skinny jeans, black Vans, and a black V-neck t-shirt. I had to admit that he carried off his new look quite well. We all piled into the SUV with Daniel at the wheel. He looked in the rear-view mirror and announced that he wasn’t pulling out until all seat belts were fastened.

“It’s the law, guys. Everyone inside the vehicle has to be wearing a seat belt.” Johnny looked back at me a smiled as I fastened my belt, and we were on our way.

Daniel did an excellent job driving on the highway. He kept right at the speed limit, although he was being passed by impatient drivers the entire way. We got to The Domain and parked in the garage.

Our first stop was at the jewelry store, where we placed the order for our medallions. The jeweler said he still had the order on his computer and that it would take no time at all to have them ready. I told him we would be by around lunchtime.

We then went to Michael Kors and got Mom a dress for the wedding. It was a beautiful pleated, lace dress with cap sleeves. Mom looked stunning in it. Although she resisted our buying the dress for her, she finally relented when I explained that it was for her only child’s only wedding and that we were going to do the same thing for Johnny’s mother when we got to New York.

The next stop was at the Capezio store. Cade needed new tights and jazz shoes for his fall class with JJ. He’s grown two inches over the summer and had mentioned that his shoes were too small after he was dancing in JJ’s home studio the other day.

We then went to Dick’s Sporting Goods to get Daniel some new running shoes and a gym bag for the school year. I asked him if he needed a new swimsuit, and he said the team provided them, so we didn’t have to worry about it. By the time we had finished, it was getting close to noon, and Cade announced that we needed to go to North for lunch. He was hoping his favorite waiter was working.

We stopped by and picked up the medallions on the way to the restaurant, and they were perfect. Johnny and I put them on and thanked Mom for the gift. While we were waiting, Daniel called me over to one of the counters.

He spoke excitedly but softly. He found a beautiful charm bracelet and thought we should get that for his new grandmother. I thought it was a lovely idea. We called the jeweler over and quietly placed the order with unique charms for each of us. I told him we would pick it up after lunch.

Lunch was delightful, and Cade was in heaven. His favorite waiter was working and treated our munchkin like a king. He happily introduced his new brother and told him to make sure he took good care of him, too. Johnny, Mom, and I all enjoyed a delicious chicken Caesar salad while the boys had ravioli.

After lunch, we led Mom to the jewelry store for one last gift. Daniel handed it to her and said he felt bad that she didn’t get a medallion for herself, but then again, he found something even better.

There was a charm of the state of Virginia that had been engraved with “Gramma.” There was a charm shaped like Texas that was engraved with “The Boys.” A charm in the shape of ballet shoes was engraved with Cade’s name and a swimmer engraved with Daniel’s. There was a heart-shaped charm engraved with “Jason and Johnny” and the date of our wedding next week. A tearful Mom gave each of us a hug and a thank you, and we were soon on our way back to the parking garage.

That evening, I don’t think I could have been more proud as my beautiful family walked into the theatre before the show. I walked up to the box office to get our tickets. We were on the fourth row and in the center section, and our group filled the entire row!

In addition to my family, we had seats for Connor, his mother, JJ’s mother, and Alex. Once we were settled in our seats, I excused myself and went backstage to prepare for my opening night curtain speech. I was a little nervous as this was my first time in front of our patrons since the incident at the courthouse.

The time finally arrived, and I was greeted with cheers and a standing ovation as I walked out onstage. I motioned for everyone to sit down. “Thank you—thank you so much! First off, I want to share with all our Rosemont family the gratitude and appreciation from my family for your prayers, well wishes, and thoughtfulness while we went through a very difficult time. I want to assure you all that things have all worked out better than we ever could have hoped, and as a sidebar, Johnny and I will be taking our family to New York next week for our wedding.”

There was more applause and some cheers. “Now, before we raise the curtain on the first show of our season, I want to remind you that our next mainstage production is Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins with our special guest artist Nick Lee. Our box office will be open at intermission if you want to get your tickets ahead of time as I’m sure this is a show that will sell out—just like the one you are about to see. I want to thank a few people.

“First, there’s our outstanding director Ben Moroney. He’s done an excellent job with an amazing cast. I also want to thank JJ Cobb for his thrilling choreography. And last but definitely not least, I want to thank Kenny Baker, our guest artist for this show. If you’ve seen Kenny on Broadway or as a superhero in the Marvel films, then you already know you are in for a treat. However, I can tell you without a doubt that seeing him perform live on stage is beyond thrilling! Ladies and gentlemen, the Rosemont Theatre Company is thrilled to kick off our new season with Footloose!

While Footloose isn’t one of my favorite musicals, I must say Ben and JJ put together an excellent production. Too often, a film actor is less than comfortable on stage in front of a live audience, but I will say that Kenny was more than comfortable, took command of the stage, and endeared himself to the entire audience.

JJ’s choreography was the best work I’ve seen him do. While he and Zach were the strongest dancers in the cast, Ben made sure they were front and center on either side of Kenny for the big dance numbers.

The choreography for the title song was terrific. As the dance break started, all the boys pulled their shirts open and gave the audience a nice visual treat. At one point in the dance, each girl partnering with the boys pulled the shirts off completely, and the dance ended with bare chests moving in sync with the powerful beat. The song ended with the audience cheering and on their feet. I was relieved as I realized we had another hit show on our hands.

Our opening night reception was held in the dance studio, and the atmosphere was electric. Cheers went up when the cast walked in, champagne was handed out to all the adults, and sparkling apple juice was given to the minors in the room. The director made the traditional opening toast, and the party continued for another hour. By midnight I found Daniel and Alex sitting at a table with Cade fast asleep on his brother’s shoulder. Connor was fast asleep on Alex’s shoulder.

As I walked toward the table to get the boys ready to leave, Connor’s mother walked up to me. “Jason, thank you so much for the tickets. Connor was thrilled, and I also thought the show was delightful.”

“No need to thank me! Connor is practically a member of the family to us!”

“Well, now that you mention that, I was wondering if we needed to be concerned.”

“Why do you ask?”

“Well, the other day, Connor told me that Cade was his boyfriend and that they loved each other. Does this concern you?”

“No, not really. While Johnny and I are almost certain that Cade is gay, it’s still too early to know what will happen in his life. At first, I was concerned that Cade and Connor were growing up way too fast, but Johnny pointed out that the boys’ perception of love and boyfriends and girlfriends is much different than ours. While I’m sure they do love each other, we get to remember that their love is driven more by innocence and exploration. We also have to remember that to the boys, passion is anything that has to do with Hogwarts and Harry Potter.”

“Well, now that you put it that way, I see your point. I promise I’ll keep a subtle eye on things, and I’m sure you will, too.”

“Definitely. I don’t want the boys to feel like they have to hide anything from us at their age. Lord knows that will come in a few years!” We both chuckled as we woke the boys up and headed out of the theatre to our cars.

The weekend went by rather quickly. The show was getting rave reviews from the local press and online theatre blogs. Auditions were successful beyond expectations, and the director was ready to make offers. We all packed our bags for the trip to New York on Sunday night and called it an early night. Connor was sleeping over with Cade, and Alex was with Daniel. Mom was the first to retire for the night, and the rest of us took the hint and made our way to our rooms. Johnny and I decided to shower tonight and exchanged quick and quiet blowjobs to help us sleep better.

My alarm went off at 6:30. I wanted to get a good breakfast for everyone before we went to the airport, but from the smell of things, Mom beat me to the kitchen. I went out to the kitchen, and sure enough, Mom was frying bacon and mixing waffle batter. I truly believe bacon is the best alarm clock!

Within ten minutes, everyone was up. In no time, the boys had the table set and ready to go. While we were eating, JJ called, and I excused myself from the table. He told me that we were not driving. He had ordered a limo to pick all of us up and take us to the airport. It would pick them up first and then head to our house. He didn’t think it would fit in our circular driveway, so we all would need to walk down to the street.

At 8:30, the doorbell rang, and the limo driver told us we were ready to go. He took Mom’s bags, and the rest of us carried our own. We walked down to the street, and Johnny and I laughed out loud.

Waiting for us was a humongous Hummer stretch limo. We set our bags down at the rear of the car and made our way inside. JJ and Zach were waiting for us, but I didn’t see Kenny. JJ told me he had left for the airport thirty minutes earlier as his guest was arriving at 9:00. The limo would pick them up at the terminal and then bring them over to the charter terminal.

Mom was a little overwhelmed by the superstar treatment she was receiving and kept telling JJ and Zach they were doing too much! The boys were beyond excited and chattered non-stop all the way to the airport.

We pulled up to the gatehouse at the charter terminal in about thirty minutes and were immediately let in. The driver drove the limo directly onto the tarmac, and I was stunned to see a beautiful jet waiting for us. The driver opened the door for us, and we made our way into the plane.

It was beautiful inside. The seats were arranged in groups of four that faced each other with a table between each pair of seats. I think the best part of flying a chartered jet was that JJ had gathered all the necessary information for each of us for the required flight manifest. We didn’t have to deal with the TSA or long lines.

When we got on the plane, we found Johnny’s mother and Cade’s grandmother already on board. The plane picked them up in Phoenix at 6:00 am. Caroline looked lovely as she greeted her son with a hug and kiss. She made her way to Cade and me for the same welcome. Introductions were made all around with the others. Cade was especially happy to see his grandmother and was excited to hear that while we were in New York, her things were being moved into the loft that Johnny and I had lived in.

JJ got a text from Kenny saying that they were pulling into the charter area, and I was dying of curiosity from who his secret guest was. When they got out of the limo, Kenny waved at us from the tarmac, but we couldn’t see his friend’s face as he was wearing a baseball cap. Johnny leaned over to me and quietly said, “Well, at least we know he has a hot body!”

Kenny walked into the plane, and before I could see who was walking behind him, Daniel squealed, “Oh my God, Nick Lee!”

This chapter was a lot of fun to write--actually, the rest of this story was a blast! Thanks for hanging in there! We're almost finished!
As always, your comments and reactions mean so much to me! Thanks for those!
Love you all!
