Button is a little boy who was dropped on his father's doorstep. Watch as he and his two dads grow with each passing year.

Craig and Graham have started a life together and in that mix is a special little boy with the nickname "Button."  This is the story of their family. It began as Chapter 6 of "1550 Loring Lane."  Check it out to see how the three of them met.  http://www.gayauthors.org/story/cole-matthews/1550loringlane/6 Here is the link to my essay on creating the characters in Button.  http://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/39212-the-conception-and-birth-of-button/

Cole Matthews has written a heartwarming tale of a child growing up. Each chapter has vignettes from a year in the life of Button and his two dads. As you read you will laugh and cry, and feel every emotion in between. And if you don't fall in love with Button, you have no heart. The characters are all well written, with the strengths and flaws of real people. There is enough description to put you in the story's various locales without taking over. The dialogue sounds like real conversations. Growing up is not all sunshine and roses for Button. He has struggles and heart-ache along the way. The story is sweet and yet often thought-provoking. Be sure to follow the "fine print" suggestion and read "1515 Loring Lane" chapter 6 first. It is a prologue telling how Button came to live with his two dads.

This is a wonderful story of the first 20 years of life for a young man now called Craig, but he will always be Button to his dads.  Early on, his fathers are the main characters, and they are well written, fully fleshed-out people.  We get to see Button go from adorable toddler with special needs, to a thoughtful kid, to a typical teenager (meaning mostly good but sometimes selfish and hormonal), to a very decent and responsible young man.  The brief once a year glimpse into the lives of Button, his dads, and his friends gives us a surprisingly full picture of their lives.  I highly suggest you read 1550 Loring Lane first.  Not just because it will give you background for Button, it will give you background for many of @Cole Matthews's stories.  And it's a great read!

With each chapter being snippets about the life of Button, his family and friends, there is nothing boring about this story it's all good, very good. From 'babyhood' through to 'adulthood' Buttons story is as real as everyones. Cole Matthews has done an excellent job with his narration and brings life to all of the ups and downs, and important episodes of Buttons growing up. But be warned you will need to keep the Kleenex handy, not just for the tears of sadness, you will need them for the tears of joy too. It's more than safe to say I enjoyed this pleasant and emotional read. I think others will too.
