Faithful to the Cause

   (21 reviews)

Age difference, infidelity, a deconstructed house, unlimited pre-paid tabs, and a slew of suggestions on how to die. Jensen and Nolan recall the journey that brought them together, or kept them apart, depending on who you ask.

Story of Jensen and Nolan. A case of age difference that is well written and realistic. There is no love at first sight. Nolan only see's Jensen for what he is, a high schooler. As the years pass, Jensen grows up. It's not until after a very unfortunate set of events that they cross paths again. Jensen has a lot to prove, yet his generosity comes natural. He's truly a phenomenal character. A perfect man without seeming un-real. Nolan is pretty amazing, too. He's approachable and broken. Strong but insecure.

A really great story by a great author.

Response from the author:

Thank you M. You've been a great supporter throughout the years and I always appreciate your positivity and constant support. Thank you for sticking around.

Amongst the crème de la crème of GA authors writing in the 2022 Anthology arrives mrs g’s new offering.  Could it be at the same level of writing as her amazing hits of 2021-22 on GA?  Well, the answer is a YES from me.  The characters are excellent and, for me, really original.  Jensen is but isn’t a typical 17 yr old. Nolan too is well-portrayed.

read this story and you won’t regret it.

well done!!

Response from the author:

Thank you Gary L. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but you are amazing. One of the most encouraging and supportive people. Thank you for always taking the time to interact, comment, and review. You are the best.

Don't let the length deter you from this amazing story. You'll be hooked IMMEDIETLY and unable to pause until you've taken in every last word. In true Gnomie fashion, she's twisted an every day trope into a masterful story you don't expect. I think it's her claim to fame.

Just read this story and fall in love with Jensen and Nolan. You won't regret it.

Loved it. Loved Jensen to bits and Nolan was an unexpected delight. There is such a natural and real progression to the story that brings it to life. It has everything; first lust, excitement, giddiness, disappointment, regret, courage, forgiveness, humor, etc. Nothing is missing.

When I first encountered a MrsG story, she tricked me into reading a romance. Her wit, character development, and realistic dialogue drew me in and kept me glued to the page. This story's no different. Well written and light-hearted it was easy to devour it. Even if I needed a break in between due to length. LOL

Highly recommend this one.

Having a shitty day? This is the perfect light-hearted and happy tale that will leave you smiling after a rough day. The author navigates real life with such ease and a splash of disaster. Her story preview is a very good representation of what to expect, only the story is much better.

Response from the author:

Thank you Nate. There is nothing better than a good story to end your day on a high note! Glad this story can do that for you!

They say love is blind...they never mentioned it could be stubborn as well...

If you've read the other reviews, there's not much I can add to those comments...they are all spot on...

We are so lucky here at GA to have this and so many others who take the time out of their lives to create such wonderful and worthwhile entertainment for us...

What I can say is read this!

A true must read. I don't know what you call it, it's not coming of age and it's not love at first sight. It's the rocky beginnings that eventually bring two people together. Someone called it "Classic" MrsG and that's absolutely correct. If you've read her other stuff, then you know it will be good. Great characters, great story line, great dialogue.

Response from the author:

I’m lucky to have fellow GA members/readers like you! Thank you for your support.

A great story told through the eyes of reminiscence, not of the relationship but the build up to the relationship, unique and brilliant. More than worth the read it's highly recommended.

Response from the author:

Thanks, Man. I hope to work with you again. It’s been a pleasure.

Once again, we're gifted a Mrs. G classic. As per usual, it slays!

Jensen and Nolan's relationship is such an exciting read. There's awkwardness, moments of clarity, and original Mrs. G-branded comedy. Sure, it's a long story, but it's broken into sections to help you need a breather...

Pfft! As if you'll need it. Like several other reviewers, I couldn't put this story down. What're you doing reading my words?! Scroll up and start the book!

Response from the author:

Sorry for the late response. I suck! Anyway, you're too kind. I appreciate you taking the time to review. You're a great contributor to GA, always supportive to the community. I look forward to working with you directly and not in a round about way!

Mrsgnomie does it yet again.  She has a gift for taking words and arranging them in such a way to evoke laughter, love and truly memorable characters throughout.  Jensen and Nolan are a journey of determination on one part and slow realization on the other. Plan on a start to finish setting. Trust me, you'll enjoy your journey.  Thank you Mrsgnomie for sharing.

Response from the author:

Ahh, thank you for such kind words. It means a lot that you enjoyed the story enough to stick around and leave a review. I appreciate you.

This is a beautiful, funny romance that left me feeling so good.  I know I will read it many more times.  I liked  that this story was told by two men reminiscing about how their love started with a young family member.  msgnomie is a great writer who fills her stories with love and humor.  The story is compelling and the characters capture your heart.  One of the great stories in the 2022 Anthology. It is a great way to introduce yourself to the wonderful romances written by msgnomie.

Response from the author:

You’re the best. Thank you

Jensen and Nolan are a cute couple, they make such an interesting pair based on their backgrounds.

It's an intriguing story that takes normal concepts in gay fiction, then reverses them in a meaningful way that shows off both characters. Jensen is a refreshing reversal of the stereotype, he might be young, but he's successful, mature, and secure. In contrast, Nolan is older, weary of relations due to his ex-husband infidelity, and insecure financially or career-wise.

If this were a heterosexual romance, Nolan reminds me of an ex-housewife who is trying to get her life back, while her young wealthy and virile supportive male lover is trying to prove his devotion to her. While this concept has been done countless times in heterosexual romance fiction, it's refreshing to finally see a talented author like @Mrsgnomiebring the concept into gay fiction with fleshed-out characters and concepts.

I wish I could add something to what others have said but I can’t and that alone is a testament to this story. It was engaging from the beginning when Jensen was tugging at his collar and the big doors opened, flooding the restaurant with light, all the way to the end, when Nolan overcame his mental hangups and finally did something to get Jensen. Well done and complete novella.

When you see a story by Mrsgnomie, there’s always a chance of at least 50% that it won’t be good. This is one of those stories.

We follow two very well carved out characters through several years, from infatuation to love. Both guys grow a fair amount and realize what is important to the other one and how to overcome some obstacles.

No, this story isn’t good. It’s amazing. It’s very typical for Mrsgnomie, which I mean as a big compliment. Thank you for this, this will be a favourite of mine, just like so many of your other works of art.

Response from the author:

Okay, you got me for a minute. I was so confused lol 🤣. Thank you for not hating me.

I read this story when she first published it but I pressed my luck finishing it and haven't been back online to review since, but I to carve the time to review it. This story was a delight. Humor, heartbreak, awkwardness, a lovely string of events, great pacing, realistic dialogue and events, and great, lovable MCs. Another win for MsG. Hasn't failed us yet.

Knowing her, we won't here more from Nolan and Jensen but I hope she changes her mind at some point.
