Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 30 - Feb. 05)

Wow, what a week it has been for me   First I was back to work. I did not take up the offers of my peers to get a shotgun in my face or get pushed over Niagara Falls  Actually I had a pretty good week doing nothing  I'm all for that  So this week I did all the things that I put off all week last week: laundry, bills, cleaning, trying to pick out new flooring. Whew, you're lucky I'm not in bed catching up on my sleep since I'm so tired  Or maybe you wish I was in bed   First week of the

If you did and just need to put your finishing touches on it, make sure to get it done today! Nothing coming to mind tonight for a preamble, so rather than bore you again this week  why don't we just jump into the past week in review? Monday our Review Team did a nice recap of the previous year: Thursday was another day for this new feature of the

2021 Reviews Revisited

Our Review Team has put together a list of all the Reviews that they did in 2021. You can click on any of them to see the actual blog. Maybe there was one that you said that you'd read, maybe one that piqued your interest, or maybe one that just looked like it would be a new foray into and different genre. No matter what the reason, here is your second chance to see the Review. Being a New Year, on behalf of the staff at GA and I'm sure all of our Poets, Authors, Readers and every one in be

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 16 - Jan. 22)

What to do, what to do, what to do? The company that I work for has a fiscal year of May to April. So our holiday calendar year is also May to April. Turns out that I actually have 4 weeks to use up, due to carryovers. I'm thinking I'm going to carry over 2 again and try to use them in the summer. But now that I'm off this upcoming week, I have nothing really to do . I thought of visiting @Krista in Kentucky, but it is warmer up here right now . That and the promise, "If you show your face

January Classic Author Feature: Pilots II by David McLeod

This month I'm keeping the fantasy theme going and featuring the second of one of David McLeod's series that have one of my favorite mythological creatures, Dragons! The last ad was for Pilots, so I wanted to make this feature for Pilots II. I admit to indulging myself a little. Hopefully you'll join me (and continue to read on in the next story in this series too).   Length: 50,999 Description: Two boys from Earth Analogue III awaken on World, and learn that if they ever will fl

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 9 - Jan. 15)

Can you believe we are half the way through January  From my eyes and ears on the ground, I hear that some of the cold from Siberia to Canada has now hit down towards the south of the USA and Europe and beyond. So how is it in your neck of the woods? Any snow ball fights? Making snow angels? Is your dog refusing to go outside to do their business?  Well I promise we won't send the cold freezing weather to our friends in Australia and New Zealand  Well we had a slow week to start the GA Blog

Weekly Wrap Up (Jan. 2 - Jan. 8)

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening and good night if you are heading to bed 🛌 I wonder how many of you did the age old tradition of making New Year's resolutions. We are 9 days into the New Year and I'm also curious if you are still maintaining your resolution, or has it fell by the wayside already 😮 I know of one person who is trying really, really hard to keep up their resolution, but wonder if is good for their mental health. I mean, they have been on the earth for nearly 4 decad

Ask An Author 3.0 #12

The holiday season is officially over with, and I haven't been happier! For those who just did a double-take, let me explain. January through March is a resting period for us retail folk. It's a time of recovery, restructuring, and... Uh-oh. I forgot about inventory counts! Can we go back to the everyone not knowing how to drive and Christmas songs on repeat? Hmm? Ask An Author? Yeah, I suppose we can get back on track. But first... ⚠️ALERT! ⚠️ The well has run dry! The well has r

January CSR Feature: Dragonborne by Xfighter1984

Well, I don't know about you, but I sometimes have a hard time facing the rest of winter after the magic of the holiday season has ended. Now it's just extreme weather and no fun... so I thought we'd enjoy some magic of a different sort and the fun of a coming-of-age short story with Xfighter1984's fantasy tale Dragonborne. And for those who like their tales to continue... a little birdie (read: the author note at the bottom of the last chapter) says there more in store for this world. So if you

Weekly Wrap Up (Dec. 25 - Jan. 1)

Wow, this blog is going to cover A LOT of stuff. After all we are going to cover last year as well as this year too ! But if you were like me, it seems harder to remember the good stuff from last year, which there was, from the bad stuff . But we are in a new year with new expectations . I would like to remember a good friend of GA and to many on a more personal level as well, the passing of Comicfan. His contributions and participation on the site will always be in our memory   On the

December CSR Feature: Sidewinder by Headstall

Well, it's come. The final CSR feature of 2021... and what better than a time-traveling tale of the Old West? Headstall shares his passion for the genre with this comment on his story: "What was life like for a gay man in the Old West? Westerns are not a popular genre, but this author grew up on them, and I wrote this for me. This is my second story set in these times, and I wanted to explore how these men coped... how they survived, and what the attitudes of the times were. A lot of research we

Okay, let me put my grinch hat on   Has anyone got sick of the shall we call them 'Lifetime' Christmas movies?  I mean, they are all basically the same story, just different actors and slightly different stories. But there is always a woman, who has a male adversary at the beginning. The scheming and cajoling and finally they admit they are in love with each other and everything survives what was in peril at the start of the movie.  The bakery, the Christmas tree farm, shall I go on? Okay,

Ask An Author 3.0 #11

Who has their holiday decorations up? I certainly do! It's the first Wednesday of December, and we have something special. It's a fantastic edition of Ask An Author!  I know many missed seeing the November issue, but as Renee put it, the well ran dry. Let me tell ya, I felt the site rumble with activity and the messages came flooding in! But I'm not one to act in desperation, folks. Ask An Author relies on readers sending in their questions. Let's end 2021 on a high note and stuff the AAA p

How has November treated you? I can't believe we're almost done with this year, but in the same respect it just can't go fast enough! I felt like that when I was reading Dabeagle's story, Bloom. I wanted to know what happened next so I kept reading faster and faster, but I wanted to savor it before it would end too soon.... as all good stories do! What did you think?
