Weekly Wrap Up

Sorry about the lateness of this Weekly Wrap-up - been one of those Sunday's already here.   We started the week with a review by LouisHarris of Hosted Author Cia's Never More Lonely - a story that LouisHarris concludes by saying "A delightful, interesting read that I would certainly reread (and I have)."   On Tuesday, we had a personal essay on Perspective, how viewpoint is important when confronted with unexpected health issues, and also important when considering literary criticism - a l

Anniversary Week - Weekly Update!

Did everyone enjoy Anniversary Week?   We started the week with a review by Cia of Hosted Author Myr's Terran Confederation - Jeremiah. See, not only does he bring us all this fantastic website for the past ten years, he writes too!   For our Toss Up Tuesday, we then continued with an interview with Myr!   Wednesday, we had a bit of a change up and instead of our usual reviews, we had some thoughts from one of the other original GayAuthors.org authors - Comicality. It was a great read to

If you didn't see yesterday's blog entry, the Fall Anthology: Friends & Enemies is now live. Thirteen great new stories for all to read - check them out!   Also, on Thursday, we put out a new inquiry from Podiumdavis. PD has been fantastic in compiling various responses toautors on questions like How would you cast your story? and others. This time, he has a one for anyone who wants to reply, not just our authors.   So the inquiry is:   If you're interested, send your response on this

If you haven't seen yet, Myr had a very important blog entry about GA Hosted Authors, eBooks and Fiction Stories, please take a moment and check it out. If you did see it, but didn't see his late posted note, I want to repeat what he said - this announcement does NOT mean that GA is switching to Pay only. GA will always have the majority of content free, as long as Myr runs it.   Also - we now have only 2 days left for our FALL Anthology entries. The "Friends and Enemies" anthology is due Sept

First things first - announcements time!!!   Renee announced on the 20th of August that she is looking for theme suggestions for the 2013 GA Anthologies. If you have a suggestion for a theme, now is the time to let her know via the thread in the Anthology Forum. Suggestions will be taken until midnight (US Mountain Time) September 3rd and then this topic will be locked. Once all suggestions are in, a team will narrow it down to twenty themes for the GA Members to vote on. Why wait, get your su

Monday we started off with a review by Fozzie Bear of our Hosted Author Renee Steven's story Roving Dreams. As everyone should know, Renee is very special to us here as an extraordinary Co-GA Blog Organizer, but additionally, she is a fantastic author.   This was followed up by an interview of Andy021278 that Comicfan graciously did for us. It's always great getting a better in-depth look at our authors and community members.   So after getting to know Andy021278 better, we get to read his

We started our week looking at a delightful story by Hosted Author Libby Drew. Radiant Renee Stevens gave us a great review of Libby's Spark and sat8997 and Mark Arbour both chimed in with their praise for Libby's works.   Our Tuesday Toss up looked at heroes - specifically various readers from the perspective of two authors, FleetingRainbows and C James. The comments on this blog are as valuable as the entry itself, IMHO.   For our midweek Author's Showcase, we had a review of Promising Aut

Well, our deadline for the big Novella Anthology "Secrets Can Kill" - has come and past. I can't wait until we all get to see what was submitted. I'm definitely looking forward to some new stories to read! AND - we have some new Anthology Announcements.   One of the joys of working on this daily GA News blog, is pulling out older stories that sometimes just don't get enough attention. We did that on Monday with Radiant Renee Stevens' review of Under the Mistletoe by Hosted Author DomLuka. This

The deadline for our big Novella Anthology "Secrets Can Kill" - the deadline is July 31 (although if you need a few extra days, just contact Lugh in advance)   We started our week looking at Topher_Lydon's Carter's Army, his first story of his Carter series. Not only did we get a good look at the story that started his series, we also saw news that he is planning ANOTHER Carter book!   Our Toss-up Tuesday gave us an interview with the multi-talented Radiant Renee Stevens. She gives us some i

First, I want to make sure everyone saw yesterday's Blog - K.C. has a story stolen and the thief was selling it on Amazon. Amazon is looking into this, but as yesteray's blog noted, it is happening more and more. The blog also gives some good advice if it happens to you. I highly urge everyone to read it.   Other big news on the horizon is the looming July 31 deadline for our big Novella Anthology "Secrets Can Kill" - the deadline is July 31 (although if you need a few extra days, just contact

July is half-over already! Remember, the Novella Anthology is due July 31!!!   This week, we looked our newest Premium Author, Quonus10 in a two part interview. Monday, we mainly heard about Quonus10's story Chosen of Honorus. Then as a follow-up, we concluded his interview on Tuesday with more of a focus on his experiences with publishing.   Our Wednesday Author Showcase gave us reviews of Johnathan Colourfield's The Room, as well as Cailen's Somewhere Only We Know. We really appreciate Lou

We started this first week of July with andy021278's review of Kombat Kids by Hosted Author Ghost Ryder. If you're like me, you'll find andy really has a good way of giving a good flavour of the story without giving too much away, and letting you know how he feels the author did with plot and other elements.   We then were treated to another Myr write up, this time on the Tag system of the new forum software.   Our Author's Showcase gave us reviews of two of Promising Author Wrathofmagneto's

How's your week been? Mine personally has been fantastic (check the little personal blog entry at the end if you're interested)   In Blog-land, life has been good as well. We started the week with a look at Hosted Author Bill W's The Castaway Hotel - Grand Reopening 1. Andy021278 did a great review, in part because of how much he grew to love the story.   On Tuesday, we had a highlight about Premium Membership, what it is, why it exists and the benefits of being a Premium Member. Also, after

Have you been enjoying the latest anthology, Choices? The next anthology is a big one - "Secrets Can Kill" is not only a Novella Anthology, but also will be celebrating 10 years of GayAuthors.Org! Full details on the specifications for the anthology can be found here. For those that don't want to click, the baseline requirements are: Our past novella collections have been wonderful and I can't wait to see what people come up with this time!  Our week started with a review of Ben by Hosted A

Choices - our Summer anthology is LIVE! Go enjoy (after you read the rest of this post) ;-)   We started the week with Almost Home, by our Hosted (and very sexy) Author Shadowgod. This is one of Shadowgod's short stories, and Podiumdavis wrote a wonderful review of it.   In this week's Author Showcase, we also had great reviews of both Promising Author WrathOfMagneto's Three Hundred Years, as well as What Remains, by Author myself_i_must_remake.   Our Tuesday Toss-up gave us the first of a

Our Summer anthology deadline has come and passed, so looking forward to soon being able to read some good "Choices".   Our week started by Seeking Nirvana - a story by LittleBuddhaTW that was reviewed by Mark 92. Seeking Nirvana is a great story that I first read when David wrote it, but it was sooo good to take another fresh look at this gem.   We had a couple of great tips this week. As one of the possible uses for Tip Tuesday will be interviews, what better than a tip on conducting inter

First - the deadline for the Summer Anthology "Choices" is LESS THAN A WEEK away! Also, if you haven't seen Myr's Thursday post on the "EU Cookie Law and You", please take a moment to check it out.   I hope your weekend is going well. I seem to have a bit of a head cold so this is going to be a more minimal wrap up - hope you understand.   Our Hosted Author Feature story was Double Down by Cia.   In the Author Showcase, our Promising Author spotlight was on Dolores Esteban and our Author s

Hope your weekend has been going well - mine started poorly due to allergies but major recovery today, so that's good.   We had some fantastic reviews and other material here in the news blog this week. On Monday, we got a great review of prolific Hosted Author Mark Arbour's Wars End. If you haven't checked out any of his work, this may be the one to try first!   Tuesday, I extended the conversation started the previous week, getting some additional input on this news blog. The weekend is almost over - but at least NEXT weekend will be a three-day one for many of us in the states.   We've had a busy week with a ton of great feedback. For our "Tuesday tip", we did something different and had a poll as well as requests for open comments about this news blog. If you haven't chimed in, or if you have something new you want to add - please go and either post there or as a comment here.   One of the suggestions has even been implemented already. Hopefully your weekend has been enjoyable - here's your look back at our GA week.   We started looking at Hosted Author Nephylim's great story Home. If you haven't check out LouisHarris's review of Home, and, if it grabs your fancy, maybe check out Home itself.   Our tips for the week were on Being a Reader, and one for authors on What to Look for in a Beta Reader. We're always looking for new tips so if you have one you want to share, let Renee Stevens or myself know.   Our midweek author

A week of holidays - from Beltane to Star Wars Day to the Battle of Puebla - and now, it's over. I hope yours was good.   We started our GA week looking at Hosted Author Bill W's story Butterflies Fly Free, thanks to a great review by K.C.. I hadn't been aware of the story, but thanks to KC's review, I'm very intrigued.   Our tips this week were a good mix with a writing oriented one about Pleonasms, learning what they are to better avoid them; and a site oriented one on the community that i

First - we're proud to announce our newest anthology is up - the "Cracks of Time" Poetry anthology. Check it out and let the authors know how you feel about their works by writing a review for them!   Speaking of time cracks - these past two weeks have been a bit disjointed for the news blog. We started off on a great footing with a review by Houdinii of Luc's Angst Poetry collection. Then that evening, we all had a bit of angst over the hack of GA - thankfully, Myr was able to rush home and

It is with GREAT pleasure, that I announce our newest Hosted Author - Baby Q's dad! (erm - I guess he also goes by Quonus10). I am personally a big fan of his work, especially Second Shot and The Trial of Jordan Colmar - if you haven't read his stuff yet, I encourage you to give it a try.   Also, a big last minute reminder that entries for the Poetry Anthology need to be to Lugh by April 17 - that's just two days from now.   So, we've had a pretty good week, starting with a review of Duncan
