Weekly Wrap Up (Feb.11 - Feb. 17)

Wow, that week went by in a whirl  Not that I was swept off my feet by Prince Charming, but just overall it was a quick week. I could of sworn a day or two ago that I was doing last weeks wrap up. Instead of me babbling on, I want to call to attention our Annual Anthology Topic Poll. This is a great concept that I think is turning out not only some great topics, but great engagement across the site! When you see a lot of votes you think oh well, what will mine count? In this case your

Weekly Wrap Up (Jun. 5 - Jun. 11)

I'm glancing out my window and in my neck of the woods the saying it correct: June showers bring July flowers  Seriously, we are out of the periodic snow now and after a dry first bit of the month, we are getting some rain.   Can you believe we are nearly at the summer solstice in North America? Tonight, dusk was around 10:15. I always like to be camping at this time of year, so you can have a fire going late into the night after a long day of fun! Not sure how many of our members fall in t

Weekly Wrap Up (Feb. 25 - Mar. 2)

So what is that saying? February Showers brings March dumps of snow?   After a tropical February around here, it stated snowing on Thursday night, and it snowed, and snowed and it snowed I'm sure we are over a foot but you know what, a foot here is multiple feet in the mountains to the West. Without this bump up in the low snowfall in the Rockies, we would and may still be in a drought for the summer. So if any of you are going to tell me about your bulbs starting to shoot up, maybe planni

Weekly Wrap Up (Apr. 30 - May 6)

Hey all So, if your city, town country, etc. has a beer festival and you don't fight the demons of the alcohol , I suggest you might want to check it out!! Today I went to the Calgary International Beer Festival and somehow I'm still of the mind that I think I can right this blog  Myself, I'm more a straight kind of pilsner kind of guy, seldomly venturing into the the likes of IPA's, stouts, ales, and all the others. Well, I surprised myself . I had a great day at the festival and think t

Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 23 - Jul. 29)

Hello 😎 First off, I want to thank the ever elegant Cia for taking care of the wrap up for me last week  I think we will keep her around for a bit   Actually, with all your talk of bears, i had to leave my campsite temporarily as they tracked a gizzily momma and two clubs right close to our tent and campsite , but I survived. @Bill W, I can now say I survived the bears and the bares  Now if it was a blue bear, no bets on who would have won that one. I have to admit to myself, as I

I hope everyone had a great week! Just a reminder that the deadline for the fall anthology has passed. If you had your story proofread and have not uploaded yet, it needs to be done by the end of the day today(Sunday) and the links provided in the forum thread as I need to start getting things prepped for the anthology release. If your story has not been uploaded by then, and the link supplied, your story will not be accepted into the anthology. With that being said, lets take a look at what hap

Weekly Wrap Up (Feb. 12 - Feb. 18)

Ooops, I did it again Up here in the frozen Great White North some people decided years ago that the time between New Years Day and Good Friday/Easter Sunday was tooooooo long of a break without a day off from work  I know, you all are thinking did you damn Canadians create another holiday in February? If you are thinking that, you are correct. The day falls on President's day in the US of A, but most provinces call it Family Day . So the 3rd Monday of the month is a day off for

Hope everyone has had a great weekend! This past week wasn't near as busy as the last, but there was still plenty going on. The deadline for the 2015 Summer Anthology has now passed and we are working to get the anthology ready to go live. We'll also soon start the 2016 Anthology theme selection, so start thinking about what you'd like to write about for next year.   Cia took the opportunity on Monday to announce this month's CSR selection. If you haven't already read Where Life Takes Us By Ku

Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 20 - Nov. 26)

I hope my 'merican friends and their families of origin or found  had a super Thanksgiving holiday. Did you eat too much? I think TG is one of the mandatory 'pass' days that you get to eat what you want, how much you want, and for as long as you want. It is surprising that with New Year's resolutions that people make those far stretched promises to themselves to stop smoking, go to the gym, stop drinking alcohol and such, that there is nothing for Thanksgiving. Maybe there should be promises to

Weekly Wrap Up (Dec. 1 - Dec. 7)

Anyone who doesn't celebrate the Christmas season, unfortunately is going have tolerate us that do for the next 3 weeks 🎅 We had our department Christmas Party at work yesterday and there was about 30 of us all out for a late lunch and a Secret Santa draw. Everyone had a person they were supposed to buy for with a $20 limit. Our department is maybe 60/40 female to male, but it was great to see that everyone put in an effort to get something that reflected the person that they bought for. Bi
