    Upcoming Events Reminder

    By Valkyrie

First, I'd like to wish all our American members a very Happy Thanksgiving!  I will be spending the day at my aunt's, stuffing my face with turkey and all the sides   I'd be perfectly happy with a plate full of stuffing and gravy, though.  🤤 I am thankful for everyone who makes this site as awesome as it is!  I'm also thankful for everyone who participates in site events, such as the anthologies and other contests run throughout the year.     Speaking of site events, we have two

Out of the depths of despair

It had to happen eventually. I simply had to wait for the right moment, the right set of circumstances.   Until early Friday morning (like about 00:30 in the morning), I hadn't written anything of significance for too long. More importantly, I hadn't gotten any appreciable distance into a story for the Spring Anthology. Then it all came whooshing out and a story, a workable story inline within my proposal, started to filter out of the dismal depths of a very serious bout of depression.   No,

Life after Death

I'm not entirely sure why, but until now, I had decided to drop off the radar (in terms of this site). I was going through a really bad time in my life, which I hope I never have to repeat. I think I've learned from my mistakes--and yata yata.   It always perplexed me that I never really got that close with anyone through this site. I'm sure it was due to preoccupation/lack of effort on my part, but yeah...I guess I'm going to try again.   Hope everyone (who I knew briefly) is doing well,

Hockey games are NOT canceled because it snows!

Sam and I are going to Binghamton tomorrow to watch the Albany River Rats play the Binghamton Senators. Yes, that is a very exciting thing for us. For Sam, the most exciting thing is that they sell Dipping Dots at the arena there. Our arena doesn't. So he is psyched The boy will do just about anything for Dipping Dots. I find them a bit freakish. Ice cream that doesn't really melt on your tongue is just wrong.Though the root beer float ones are pretty good. But I actually am psyched abou

A Moment of reflection

Some people might not understand what this blog entry's about, and if you don't, count yourself as one of the lucky ones. For those of you who know what's up, well, you know......   The last few days have been tough for me. I took a bold step and walked in to the unknown, a place where I felt unwelcome and unwanted, mainly because I gave myself a sentence of purgatory in a moment of rage and isolation. People who know me on this site know that I'm a stubborn asshole. I have my ideas and no on

I have somewhere to live!

So I suppose it seems like I hardly ever think about this blog anymore considering that I only update it once or twice a month . Actually, I always want to update it and have like 10 different entries I want to write, but I never seem to find the time    Anyway, I thought about all the potential things I wanted to write about and decided that in terms of simple information this was the way to go (although you should probably skip it if you don't feel like reading a fairly shallow,

It's been awhile...

It's been an interesting seven days and far too long since I have made a blog entry. For any of you out there that actually read. I've gone and finished my spring anthology entry and sent it out to be polished. The beta feedback I have received has been nice and I can't wait to see what everyone else thinks of it. I'm also getting ready to start wrapping up Living in Surreality. There should only be about four more chapters left to go even though I have tried to push it to at least 25, but why d

I can feel the love

I got a really encouraging email from someone who must be reading Bodega Bay on Nifty. Here's an excerpt:     My guess is that the guy went to the No Sex section of Nifty by mistake, got mad because there was No Sex (go figure) and lost his temper. Anyway, if you're a reader of mine who's(not whose..see Razor, I do know the difference) easily frustrated by a lack of sex, don't read any of my short stories, and don't read Time In A Bottle.....the ironic part is, if he would have just been pat

Kevin Zegers is H-O-T!

So, I've decided that the hottest guy alive is Kevin Zegers (he was the kid in those cheesy "Air Bud" movies - but now he's all grown up, and boy has he grown up!) His most recent movie, "It's a Boy Girl Thing," was actually produced by Elton John and his partner, David Furnish. If anyone doesn't know who he is, go Google him ... trust me, he's F-I-N-E.   I was soooooooooooo disappointed last week when Sundance got booted from "American Idol." He was definitely my favorite of the guys, ever si

Monitoring the situation

First of all, I'd like to apologize to anyone I offended with my recent user name, MikeH*wk(*** it ****). I agree that it was in bad taste, and I hope it hasn't caused any troube for the Administrators of this site. That was the last thing I wanted to do....I admit that sometimes I can be a real jack ass, but I'm working on that   In the interest of striving to change my ways, I've made a few decisions....I think it's time for me to just sit back and monitor things around me for a while. So,

Romance

Are you in a long term relationship? Do you think your partner has become complacent?   The reason I ask is, Chris and I used to do loads of really romantic stuff all the time. Now it feels a little like we're an old married couple lol. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, hell no! I wouldnt change what we have for anything. Just maybe a few more romantic nights would be nice   I got to thinking about this after a dream I had today, We were on holiday at this beach. It was evening and we we

The rose

It is strange how things trigger other things. I will admit to being somewhat gin soaked at the moment, so bear that in mind if you choose to read further. But someone mentioned to me earlier about my difficulty letting go. It was in relation to something I won't discuss here, but it must have stuck in my head--out of context. And then there was the chat room conversation. I have learned--or remembered, because I think I DID once know this--that a chat room is always more interesting when y

Oh... my... GOLLY!

So, I'm sorry if I haven't been around much this week... we had family visiting... read... driving me absolutely crazy! But have no fear, the countdown has begun... less than seven hours until they are on a train headed back home! I don't mean to sound... well, crappy... but OMFG! It's just unreal... I mean, if I took my kids to visit somewhere for a week, I would be all over them to pick up their stuff, and not leave a mess everywhere, and be quieter, etc... but I swear to you... I have picke

All I can say is...wow (yeah, right, you WISH that was all I could say) :P

Sometimes I am so slow it amazes me. I just now read the February Newsletter (at least it was the February 2007 Newsletter). Have to say that my mouth dropped oppen like a startled goldfish. Nickolas James reviewed my poetry! Wow. I suppose I will have to be careful now--or I might get the idea that I am a 'real' poet. *laughs* Though if that ever happens, I will just go back and read some of my older things that are posted on a secret site far, far away from the eyes of anyone who does no

TRYING to beat some words out of my head

Ok...I really can't write. Everything I have ever written, if it has been anything decent at all, has been accidental--much like that monkey typing Shakespear. That is how I have felt lately. Have had quite a few moments of "YOU SUCK!" And why is this? Because that damned Spring Anthology has me sitting here with the classic 'deer in the headlights' look (which I am starting to think is actually my normal look).   So anyway... I have written at least six different things and scrapped the

Morning All,   So just a quickie for now cause I'm only halfway ready for work and I need to get the heck outta here or I'll be late and as of now there is no half naked Tuesday policy at work...   FBTE 24 is in the hands of my proofreader(s) only one full version has been sent to THE proofreader and as soon as I hear back from him... it'll be in the hands of the man, so look for it soon kay?   Now back to my anthology maybe? All night long

Last night we had my birthday party and Im still kinda wiped out from it all. Everything started at 5 and my folks cleared out for the most part, which was a good thing. My dad and stepmom spent the entire day cleaning and getting everything set up for me, and I feel bad because my dad even got the hot tub cleaned out and ready but it was too cold for us to use   We had such a good time though. My buddy Jonny manned the grill and we had brats and wings, and someone else brought about 60 can
