    Upcoming Events Reminder

    By Valkyrie

First, I'd like to wish all our American members a very Happy Thanksgiving!  I will be spending the day at my aunt's, stuffing my face with turkey and all the sides   I'd be perfectly happy with a plate full of stuffing and gravy, though.  🤤 I am thankful for everyone who makes this site as awesome as it is!  I'm also thankful for everyone who participates in site events, such as the anthologies and other contests run throughout the year.     Speaking of site events, we have two

A Busy 3 Day Weekend

After pulling a double shift on Monday and working 2nd shift the rest of the week, it was nice to have a three day. It was a busy weekend tho. I spent a good part of the time editing 4 chapters for one author and a couple of new ones for Nick.   I know that sounds like a lot of work, but it was fun to do.   I also spent some time having a couple in depth chat's with an author friend of mine about his latest chapter release. Now it's time to reread Book 2 of The Scrolls of Icaria from the be

Time In A Bottle

Ok, so it's update time again I just sent chapter one of my next story, Time In A Bottle, off to Talonrider. it's still in Beta Mode, so I haven't completed all of the changes to the first chapter that I plan on making. On the other hand, I personally feel like it's off to a good start, and that things are going to flow relatively smooth once I get the little bugs worked out. This story's much different than anything I've ever written before. I wasn't too sure i really wanted to tackle some

Not taking the cold exit

Another night of too much tequila, too much spicy food, a killer giant molasses cookie, an orange, and a couple slices of buttered bread, makes for a restless sleep. The really bad thing about doing this shit is everything tastes so good. It

not a blog...

I'm grumpy.   Davey cheered me up. "I love you" with a Scottish accent does wonders for my mood it seems.   My daughter dreamed a vampire bit me and killed me, and I am trying to soothe her by telling her that in Com's story GFD, the vampires aren't bad or scary.   I can see my son's face again, took him for a haircut.   I actually wrote a page and a half so FBTE 23 is coming soon... hang on for me Altimexis. I really am trying...   My angel listens, more than that, he cares... so than

I don't totally hate snow

Actually, I hate snow, now. In earlier times, way back in the days before color TV, automatic transmissions, and multiplex theatres. When computers were took up whole basements, reprogramming involved rewiring the silly things, and they broke down for the stupidest reasons like one of the gears lost a tooth. Yeah, way back then. Well, I did like snow, but I was a kid and what kid doesn

Happy Birthday to me

So, I just celebrated my 29th birthday ... well, I wouldn't exactly say "celebrate," cause I hate the idea of getting older. But as us Buddhists believe, it is inevitable ... old age, sickness, death, suffering, etc.   I've been totally captivated by the whole "Miracle in Missouri" story, and was so happy to hear that they found those two boys. I saw the older one (who was missing for 4 1/2 years!) today on "Oprah" ... you could see in his eyes that he's been through hell. I even cried when he

One of my turns

So I've been doing a lot of thinking, and I've come to the following conclusions.......Bodega Bay is almost finished. I'm not sure how many chapters it has left, but it's not more than 5. Ok, that's not one of the conclusions...I knew that already. The first conclusion is this......I'm devoting all of my energy to Staking My Claim once Bodega Bay is finished, then I'm going to start something new that's definitely going to be unlike anything you've ever read from me(btw, that's the other conclu

No Regrets

My friend Claire called today. I've mentioned her in a few other entries. She's awesome; at various phases in my life she's definitely been my best friend. She also holds the distinction of being the only girl I was ever in love with. I'm often attracted to girls, sometimes even a tad enamored, but usually there's no real emotional/romantic connection. Except for her, I wasn't even particularly attracted to her, but I still considered spending my life with her. Anyway it's only fair I supp

one down... some more to go?

Okay so we are currently waiting on this Tooth Fairy chick to come and leave us something under our pillow... SINCE MY SON LOST HIS FIRST TOOTH TODAY!!!   So I pick him up from school today and eventually, as if it was no big deal at all, he says, "Oh, so my tooth fell out today."   Me: OH MY GOSH!! Were you in class when it fell out?   Him: Yeah.   Me: Did you cry? (Cause my daughter ALWAYS cried)   Him: Nah.   Me: Did it bleed?   Him: Meh, a little.   Me: Awwwwwww, lemme s

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Good I woke up at 3:00 this morning and lay in bed hoping the reflux would just go away and leave me alone. I always get this when I have too much cheap tequila, a picadillo tamale, a hazelnut mocha, and a slice of marionberry pie. Mostly, though, I think it's the marionberry pie because I can have the other three and nothing happens. After thirty minutes of feeling like I was going to vomit (I DO NOT vomit. I've vomited less than ten times in my life and have no desire to do it again.) I g

Hobbit Galaxies?

Ooops, wrong hobbits.     New 'Hobbit' Galaxies Discovered Around Milky Way By Ker Than, Staff Writer for Space.com January 15, 2007 Source Link   Researchers from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-II) announced the discovery of eight new dwarf galaxies, seven of them satellites orbiting the Milky Way. They resemble systems cannibalized by the Milky Way billions of years ago and help close the gap between the observed number of dwarf satellites and theoretical predictions. Credit:

I don't like this . . .

I don't like this blog because it's taken me away from my LiveJournal blog, but since I don't have that much of an audience over there, I might as well bore people over here.   Chapter 10 of The Pastel Cowboy is up on Nifty, but not yet, as of 2116 PST, on The Cove. I don't know what I hold up is. Maybe it's something trivial, maybe something drastic. I don't know. It's not like I can call the webmaster and ask. This is the internet after all, telephony has been superseded by email and instant

Sam in Love...kill me now

"Heartwrenched, heartbroken, heart ripped out, stabbed in the back. Shall I tell her how I feel?"   Yes, he did end up telling her that. He is very dramatic. No clue where he gets that from.   It is so hard to watch Sam in the throes of his first real attempt at a relationship. He is so clueless. He tries so hard to say and do the right things, but everything he says and does is the wrong thing

It's War

It's War, I tell ya, it's war. :2hands:   I live in the upstairs apartment of an older house. A couple of years ago, an older woman moved in to the downstairs apartment. She has a bad habit of turning on the water, or flushing the toilet when I'm trying to use the water for doing the dishes or taking a shower. I would usually start stomping on the floor to get her attention to turn off the water. One day, when I got home from work, she was waiting on me. She asked me if I was mad at her. So

well hello there, officer pretty

I'd sort of given up on writing here, but no one seems to be awake for me to talk to. I went to this party a girl in my classes was throwing, she pretty much invited everyone in our section and I guess 20-25 people showed up. It was fun, finally having a conversation with people I've sort of know for 6 months but never really talked to. I actually know people's first names now (the professors call us Mr. and Ms. whatever, so everyone knows each others last name.) Let me say no, I am not drunk, I

If you do, you definitely need to watch this!   Okay, beyond that sillines...   The kids are back to school tomorrow and my son is STILL up at 10:30 pm cause he is just SO damn excited to be going back that he can't just calm down and rest some.   So lemme see, day off today... did laundry, paid bills, braved COSTCO... exciting news right?   OOH! You know it is going to be a questionable day when...

You know it is going to be a questionable day when: you run out of sprinkles while baking cookies you step on a kitten while trying not to step on the clothes your son has left on the floor after changing into his school clothes you nearly fall down the stairs while carrying garbage--and end up with the garbage bag falling down the stairs instead--and it is the used kitty litter--and OF COURSE the bag breaks you get stopped by a cop because "Whatever you had on top of your car was f
