Rest In Peace

gallery_10349_448_18779.jpg

We must share the sad news that Trebs, or Robert, as he was known to many long-time friends on GA, has passed away, far too soon, from his battles with lymphoma. As a board member and administrator, he has been involved with GA for a long time. He was a big presence in the site blog in recent years, but he was so much more than that and often active in quiet ways. He was always willing to help others whenever, and however, he could. So many of us here were lucky enough to count him as a friend. He will be deeply missed.

***UPDATE*** Many people have asked where they can send flowers. We have noticed this message from Robert's family: "If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, Robert's Charity of choice is The Trevor Project. ( www.trevorproject.org ) or you can help in the fight against the cancer that took Robert by donating to The Lymphoma Research Foundation (www.lymphoma.org). Thank you."

My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Robert often stopped by just to say hello and I find myself deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Rest in peace and know you will be fondly remembered by the many you touched.

I'm so sorry and much sympathy to his loved ones.  He was so nice to me and such a great friend. I'm shocked and saddened and crying.  He was GA's example of life and how it should be. RIP my friend.  You were awesome! :(

As others have said, this is very sad. He was a good man. The world needs more people like him, not fewer. My condolences to his family.

I'll miss him. He was one of the good guys. If you know me well, you know I don't say that about just anybody.

There is so much to say

But so little words exists

Goodbye's not enough

But it's all we have

So goodbye Robert

You will be sorely missed

the world turns grey and shrinks yet again

the keys that unlock my door to the outside blur and avoid my hands

a cold chill passes through as I think of the souls that have paid the ferryman

with hope eternal, that all that have enlightened my world, have had the fare

May we all meet Robert (Trebs) again on the other side of the river

I am so sorry to learn about Robert's passing. I had no idea he was sick. The few times we communicated with each other were good times. He seemed like a gentle soul. RIP dear man.

I'll always remember Trebs by that beautiful picture he had with his big dog laying on top of him. It always made me smile.

Trebs knew everything about the site and he was always there to answer my stupid questions.

I am so sorry this happened. My heart goes out to his family and friends, including all his GA friends who knew him so well.

Rest in Peace, Trebs.

I`m so deeply saddened to hear this news. Just a month ago we were talking of meeting sometime around now. I will miss you my friend. You have always been an example of a gentleman and good friend.

I`m hoping you are at peace now, you fought the good fight against your ills, kept a positive attitude through all you went though. You will be missed dearly my friend.

To those closer and knew you better, my thoughts go out to you all. We all have lost a great person.

I'm incredibly stunned by this news. He struck me as a real fighter when it came to battling this, so to suddenly hear that he's passed...I can't believe it. :(

R.I.P.

A very sad farewell to a man who always knew how to be helpful and funny and did both often. Like Lisa, I will always remember the photo with his dog lying atop him looking happy and loved.

I didn't know Trebs as well as I would have liked, but I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Rest in Peace, Robert. My condolences to all his friends here. These things are never, ever easy. <3

Times like these, I find myself compelled to quote W.H. Auden's Funeral Blues, because I think it describes so very accurately how it feels to lose someone you love.

'The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.'
