[DomLuka] TLW Chapter 27

In anticipation of TLW Ch 27, I went back and read Ch 26 and we were left off where Ben was going to tell Owen what happened between Dennis and Ben. Anyone have any guesses or predictions as to what happened?

 

My guess is that Dennis and Ben were friends at one point but Dennis' family didn't like that. Ben as we know is a little 'nellie' and Dennis' dad and brother didn't like their friendship one bit. I bet Dennis' brother was the one who put Ben in the hospital. Leo & Ben hate Dennis because Dennis probably didn't tell the truth about who beat up Ben.

 

I don't think Dennis is gay, but I do think his family keeps such a tight grip on Dennis because they worry that someone might turn Dennis gay.

 

Just some guesses (nothing I would bet the first born on).

I had originally thought that Dennis was fooling around with Ben and got caught by his parents -- then beat him up to prove himself to his parents - but the more I re-read, I tend to get closer to what you're saying Vic. Especially as this happened after Leo and Ben got together.

 

Except - I do think Dennis is gay, and I think his eventual relationship with Reilly will lead to a way for him to get out - with Reilly's dad helping.

i'm not so sure that it was just a beating that happened. i always got the feeling that it was more of a sexual assault. i hope it wasn't, i honestly don't wish that on anyone, even in fiction. it just seems that with his parents controlling nature that he has alot of anger and resentment for himself as well as them. and maybe he had an attraction to ben but it was tainted by his fear, anger and hatred. maybe ben rebuffed him, denied him his attraction. it wouldn't be surprising if he lashed out at ben. something that represented not only what he truly wanted but also what his parents probably hate about him. lets face it, dennis isn't the most stable of individuals. he has an almost bipolar personality. he can be so caring gentle one minute and the opposite the next. but then i could just be overanalyzing this. it's a bad habit.

When I saw the forum title i got so excited and rushed to Dom's page, only to face the disapointment of no new chapter... Im sad now, think I'll go read the story again to cheer up a bit!

I'm hoping you were refering to multiple personality disorder which is more of a psychosis. You implied a Jeckyl / Hyde personality

 

Bipolar affective disorder is a mood disorder. It's more commom name being manic depression, which is something completely different.

Sorry Dave, It was 'a little' trick I learned from JC. When he did it for DD ch 8, I was excited for a couple seconds before I realized that DD Ch 8 wasn't posted yet.

 

I guess I'm all excited/expectant with the EVENTUAL release of TLW Ch 27. Considering how long its taken for Dom to get it out, I'm expecting it to be at least 100 maybe 200 pages long!

 

I also like trying to predict what will happen in Ch 27 and am curious what other fans are thinking.

no you're right i did mix it up a bit. but i was trying to imply some kind of personality disorder. i don't think it's simple mood swings. i think he has a disassociated self or what i mean is that he's buried so much of himself that it's like there are two personalities. either way i think we agree he's dysfunctional as is his family. it's been years since i took psych so please forgive me if i'm confusing disorders. but thanks for clearing that up i hate to perpetuate ignorance.

What you had to say in your earlier post was quite clear. I agree with you. Dennis is not too stable right now, probably hasn't been for a while. The Jeckyl/Hyde thing is quite evident.

 

I am bipolar so I hope I didn't come off too defensive. I'm certainly capable of it. I wouldn't wish this disorder on my worst enemy. The fact that it, too, is genetically based, is only mildly comforting. For the most part, it's well managed with medication. Life goes on.
