Bill W Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 (edited) It rurns out that it's the X-Man's Northstar, who proposes to his boyfriend Kyle. http://www.comicsalliance.com/2012/05/22/northstar-gay-xmen-marriage-proposal/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl14%7Csec3_lnk1%26pLid%3D164460 Edited May 26, 2012 by Bill W
VictoryPanda Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 That's Marvel silly. And he's been out for ages now.
Bill W Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Sorry, I just saw that posting and figured it was referring to this topic. Guess I'm a bit naive on this subject.
W_L Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Don't worry Bill, we can educate you in the world of the comic geeks Has anyone ever gone to one of the comic conventions by the way? I hear the DC/Marvel rivalry actually gets played out by the fans.
Y_B Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 (edited) Green Lantern! HA! Does this mean we'll get to see Ryan Reynolds with another guy in Green Lantern 2? Edited June 1, 2012 by Y_B
Former Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 DC's Gay Superhero Revealed: It's Alan Scott (the original Green Lantern). You can read more here: http://www.seattlepi.com/ae/tv/tvguide/article/DC-s-Gay-Superhero-Revealed-3602134.php
methodwriter85 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Now I'm off to picture Ryan Reynolds with another man...
NightOwl88 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Now I'm off to picture Ryan Reynolds with another man... You weren't doing that before this announcement, seriously? I thought Was compulsory for anyone who had seen the Green Lantern....or maybe it was just me. I'm actually pretty thrilled about this. Part of me actually figured that it could be the Green Lantern, I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't going to be one of their "Popular" characters and while the Green Lantern has always been my favorite he's always been kind of secondary. I haven't read comics in ages but I might have to take them up again given the the Green Lantern is my favorite super heros.
John Doe Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Doesn't surprise me that it would be a Green Latern. Funny (for me at least) as the Green Latern is the ONLY DC comic I kinda follow too. There are already a ton of Green Laterns.
Houdinii Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Call me on it if you can, but wasn't his son gay too? Now I really have to get back to the story line...
thephoenix Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 This is an interesting surprise to me... It'll be interesting to see how DC incorporates this into their next movie involving him.
MJ85 Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Maybe this is just me being horribly cynical, but all this talk of "the next movie"...assumes that there will even be, a "next movie".
Dark Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Indeed. I'd find it interesting what Ryan Reynolds has to say about all this, considering he'll forever after be known as playing "that gay superhero." Granted, he's pretty and is easily slashed, but the actor may not be willing to be in another movie. Playing a gay man in the movies/TV is a win for some (Brokeback Mountain, anyone?), but not every actor is willing to take that risk. I didn't think that the Green Lantern movie was all that great.
VictoryPanda Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Alan Scott is gay. Not Hal Jordan. The one thats gay is in an alternate universe and was the original Green Lantern. Hal Jordan was the current one before DC rewound their universe. So no, Ryan Reynolds played the stright one. And yep, his son was gay.
Cyhort Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 Really, the original Green Lantern? The guy who actually uses the lantern and not the cool ring? Meh. I was hoping it was someone I'd at least care a little about. Oh well.
W_L Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Really, the original Green Lantern? The guy who actually uses the lantern and not the cool ring? Meh. I was hoping it was someone I'd at least care a little about. Oh well. Yeah, I think most of us had the same hopes. At least make it one of the heroes that we can relate to. Maybe Marvel will create a new superhero that we could be happy with. Anyone has a new idea for a superhero? design? Back story? Love interests? Name?
VictoryPanda Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I havent had a chance to check it out, but I like Bunker from Teen Titans. He's a cool addition. He doesnt even have a bad past. Treated regular and supported by his family. Has a bit of flair but not too overdramatic. Nice personality... Well, I feel I can relate to him anyway.
Scarab Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 well he might be the original lantern but didn't they reboot it, made him younger and present? seems pretty relevant to me... forgive my obvious oozing green lantern bias lol... the core are my favorites after all
SthnGent Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Hey, I thought it was cool that they even made one gay. This would have been unheard of 20 years ago!
Houdinii Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Plots a new GA story line.... Who am I kidding, they write it better....
hh5 Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Anderson Coopers favorite childhood comic hero => Kamandi Recently he realized how gay his attraction to the character, lol he read the contents to the action figure ... for adults
Sasha Distan Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 remember no more BatMan films, he's retired to the south of France with Cat-Lady. I'm betting on Robin, he hasn't had his own film yet so it makes perfect sense.
debonairDarling Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Honestly I like the fact that the superheroes that are out are getting attention, but there were other gay characters within the DC universe before that. My personal favorite was always Richie from Static Shock. They changed up his character when they adapted it to TV. Cause you know, kids can't handle that stuff. *rolls eyes*
