My birthday, it's a fitting time of death.

I can only imagine the difficulty in achieving this. Sometimes you need to step away, pick it up later, see if that rattles anything around in your brain.

Not sure if "fuss" is the correct word. I think I would gently remind you, FO.

( oh, I think I'm going to have fun with that abbreviation ) It doesn't mean what you think, but it's a happy accident.

I got it on the second thought, I'm rather certain. Now my response is FO, but I don't think you'll need more than one guess. :)

I have to say, after posting, Learned to Lie for most of 2025... I miss posting chapters. Although I do try to engage with GA on some level within the forums... there's nothing that compares to posting a chapter. Anxious as I get about those little boogers though. :P

I might invest more time in doing prompts. I might lock myself into the "Where the Red Fern Grows," romance idea I had for the prompts. I keep saying I'm interested in these things and I never follow through, thinking I 'need' to write what's on the table and not much else.

I will say I'm about halfway through chapter five of, "Ellis," as well. Remind me to change the title, because I don't think it really fits the, 'First name one word story' set I had planned to do. It is too close to the name Elias, but I've always thought this character's name was going to be Ellis, so I plan on sticking to that.

I suck at titles, which got me into this mess too, but to adapt to messes making a 'thing' out of it is easiest. :D

I am giving titles to chapters as I go though. Another win for a certain someone. I wonder if it is safe to post the 'working' titles so far. Nothing is set in stone and since I've already changed some chapter titles slightly, changes may occur.

I also don't know how long I can keep up with it as well. Five may be a drop in the bucket. If this story has 10 - 30 chapters *whistles* I don't know how I'll manage.  Might also be a job for wildthing.

I miss my Friday dose of LtL for sure!,  I spent so many weeks refreshing my browser every Friday waiting on the new chapter to load.  I might have been slightly obsessed with the story lol.   Still one of my all time favorite series!!!

I don't know if we should slap that chaos on people. :P But it sounds interesting.

You are always saying you have a hard time writing short stories, this gives you complete freedom, I think it would be a blast, and challenging. Five or six chapters, it would be a fun experiment.

Nah, we'd have to lock in for at least 30 chapters and 350k.

Saturday Night Live Drinking GIF by Global TV

You wasn't supposed to call my bluff. Sir, I am nearly 40k into "Ellis" that still needs to be renamed to something else, but likely won't be. What are you proposing? A double blind collaboration? Are there character/setting/plot parameters to be set? Or are we just going in completely blind, to the point where I could be creating this wholesome little story about two men in love... followed right up with you writing complete saucy filth to out-do me...

I think the person who starts the story, sets the tone, character, setting (for you undisclosed location). I think we have an overall idea of pairings, ending, maybe a rough outline, but then just stay true to the chapters before you. The idea is to "force" the author to move outside of comfort zones and stretch different creative muscles than normally stretched.

There would have to be some parameters, like type of story, sci-fi, action, comedy, or romance. WOuldn't work if you write a comedy and then I bring us into outer space the next chapter.

I'm not talking 10K word chapters, but shorter chapters with fun situations. Maybe an overall plot or endgame, think Jolt by way of Javin, maybe an rough outline for certain storybeats and ensuring we stay on course.

And as we all know, I can be as wholesome as anyone. :)

That actually sounds like it could be fun.  Almost to the point I wanna join in but my muse is on a break.  Gotta recharge those batteries somehow I guess.

Might be something we'll try if we ever set a couple of writing days where we can discuss this a bit further. I've not written anything in over two weeks. Sometimes fun shits-and-giggles writing can spark creative energy elsewhere. I'm thinking about tackling the Prompt idea from a couple of weeks ago just to see if I can pull off the idea and keep it short and sweet. At the very least under 30k.

Hi FO!!!!

I've gotten nothing important to say. Just saying hi!

I took off three weeks due to the Super Bowl, and I found my dreams were crazier than normal. Lots of spicy dreams for some reason. I need to get back to writing filthy scenes I guess.

This weekend, two stories, two spicy scenes, I'm a perv!

If sports balls have you feeling bogged down, I guess writing filth is a good medicine for you. I wish you good luck in that endeavor, although I think you manage doing so rather well. :P

It's been about a month, wish I had a better update than I do. I've not written anything in more than a month. I'll have to look back to confirm, but I think I skipped the majority of February and I've not written anything at all for the month of March. I've not loaded a document either. I don't know what to do about writing, my brain isn't feeling creative and I've fallen into a motivation slump as my mind is elsewhere.

Probably just going to not stress about it and whenever I want to write something again, I will. I know that will slow down any progress and ambitions I had for posting another project this year, or anthologies, etc...

All of this does make me want to switch gears on what I'm working on, I'm thinking. Despite remembering that I enjoyed writing chapters 2 - 6 of the "Ellis" project and finally feeling like I had my footing with that story. I got bogged down in real life stuff, worry, and stress and that derailed me. It is difficult for me to get back onto a story if something takes me away from it, it always has.

I say don't stress. You have a life, I'm assuming you aren't a brain in a vat; if you are, please keep me in the dark.

You have a family, I think a few dogs, a job, a stupid collection of laceless shoes, and you'll write when you feel like it.

Many geniuses go in spurts and then might have long dry spells without an idea. You could catch up on your reading, take up knitting, or come and work for me in my restaurant. The possibilities are endless, and I'm sure you'll land on your feet.

I know you're going to bash your head against the wall trying to find out where I'm insulting you. But that's not me today. I'm just loving life and sharing encouragement. I'm sure that will change tomorrow or in the next moment, but...just let yourself be in the moment and enjoy your life.

My reader perspective is that, since you're writing stuff for us for free, we're not entitled to any output speed. Plus dealing with worry and stress should always be more important, I always think we should give a high priority to anything related to mental health.

I didn't feel any sneaky duplicity this time. :D Hopefully I've not gotten into my gullible phase. Honestly though, thank you. :)

I do feel bad when I'm not actively being productive. Moreso when I've got a story posting and I run off schedule by a few months. Since I have nothing actively posting, I don't feel as much pressure. I do miss posting stories though. But you're right, mental health and alleviating pressure and stressors are important.
