Mark Arbour Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I've been pondering this, and I'm not sure which way I want to go, so I thought I'd give you all a chance to weigh in. On the one hand, they're both very sexual beings, and fraternal sex is certainly not taboo in this story, or in this family. I discounted the age issue. On the other hand, I'm not sure that's really a good idea for their relationship, especially after all the controversies they've dealt with. What do you think?

I think Matt needs to learn how to be a brother to Will, and it's not an easy thing for either of them. It'd be one thing if they were two brothers who had grown up together and were naturally curious about exploring- but they didn't grow up together, Matt was never really Will's big brother, and I think sex would complicate whatever tentative bond they've got going on. Timothy M. Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Right now, I'm leaning to NO, because it would be all about Matt getting revenge on Wade and Will being frustrated about Zach. On the other hand if it ultimately helped Matt and Wade get back together, then maybe. But Will would have to find out what the whole deal with Zach is and whether they still want to be a couple in secret. At least he'd have to ask Zach if anyone was off limit (and in particular Matt), if they took a break in their relationship due to the Wally problems. (I'm pretty sure he put the agent up to this prohibition deal.) If there were no Zach relationship issues, I'd go for YES. It would be damn hot to have Will do Matt. And the drama would be sort of fun too So I don't know what to vote - except definitely NO to the threesome question, unless Zach was the one to initiate it. But I have the feeling he'd not be all that eager to share Will with other guys. I think he's possessive when in love.

His dad has just unloaded all his problems on him and he the judgmental child had to console the dad. Matt is also in a terrible place. He had his anchor in life built around his relationship with Wade and now that not only seems in jeopardy, but perhaps irretrievably broken. Zach is also in a bad place. He can't be gay publicly and to associate with the very publicly gay Will and also Matt is not a good thing. It looks like their trip will be cancelled unless they go someplace really remote and away from everyone. With all the factors these individuals are already dealing with, sex may be a few minutes of fun followed by catastrophic results. If it was strictly a cost/benefits decision it would be a resounding NO. However, life does intervene and a situation could develop which finds the hormonally supercharged trio falling into bed together. Dealing with it later and the possible complications, both short-term and long-term is the cost. So my vote is NO but I suspect that our esteemed author may have already decided the conundrum this would create is too delicious to forego. 1

Kitt Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I see a Matt/Will hookup as potentially causing a permanent rift in the family. Will have very strong feelings about how a brother should behave. Matt is beginning to see things in a similar light. I can't see a situation happening that would make either of them feel comfortable with the idea. We saw how Matt reacted when Will dropped his pants and challenged him a few chapters back. I think had Matt taken up the offer then it would have destroyed any chance of settling their differences, and I think a future hook up would have lasting ill effects. But then - those potentials may be just the reason for our esteemed author to consider it!
Westie Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 In this very narrow instance, I think it would be believable and even healthy for these two to hook up. My reasons are as follows. Firstly, they are not technically brothers, and so this is not "true" incest. Even if it was, I don't think that would be too out of the way in this family. Secondly, both these characters use sex to express affection, and as a form of bond. I think there is a sense in which it might cement their new relationship and bring them closer together as brothers. I also think that the story is heading for a role reversal, so Will is going to lean on Matt more than Wade, and JJ will lean on Wade more than Matt, Thirdly, in a threesome context, I think it broadens Zach's experience and probably gives a better grounding for a healthier relationship with Will in the longer term. Especially with Matt, who is not a threat to the overall viability of the relationship. 1

Headstall Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I vote no...first of all, Matt and Will ARE brothers...I am sure that Robbie would think so and in my opinion would be horrified...and maybe fraternal sexual relations in this family was acceptable in the past but this saga has spanned a lot of time and it has evolved...and for the most part, i believe we as readers have evolved...we have learned the hard way that what was acceptable in the seventies may not be how our gay cultural behavior should be now (ok..that sounded preachy...not meant to be). In my ideal world and how we are percieved... incest is very tricky...as a fan, i want these two brothers to have a healthy supportive relationship that doesn't involve sex...in my mind, i see Will as someone who helps to cut through the bullcrap that will likely occur between Wade and Matt, not as a catalyst to any potential they may have in the future...there is an opportunity here for great character development with these two brothers rising above what is expected BECAUSE they have each other to rely on. Just one more thought....these two having sex will basicly absolve Brad and Wade of any guilt they currently have...and gives them carte blanche to continue on with their CREEPY affair.... 1
