Site Moderator TalonRider Posted February 27, 2015 Site Moderator Posted February 27, 2015 Back in the 80's it was Elton Johns 'Sad Song' that did it for me. I've not heard it for a very long time now, so I don't know what it would do today. 1
A.J. Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Several of the other songs I would have listed like Rush's Nobody's Hero and A Great Big World's Say Something have already been mentioned, but Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here reminds me of a former member of GA that passed. Here is my favorite version on YouTube. 1

JamesSavik Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 "Your Song" It's a little bit funny this feeling inside I'm not one of those who can easily hide I don't have much money but boy if I did I'd buy a big house where we both could live If I was a sculptor, but then again, no Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show I know it's not much but it's the best I can do My gift is my song and this one's for you -Sir Elton John 1
MrM Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) Everyone deserves a chance to walk with everyone else...Amen See Boyhood if you haven't seen it already. Its simple and it grows on you...and then claims you. Edited February 28, 2015 by MrM
MrM Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 If what the Religious Right said was true and God delivered AIDS to this world....then I believe it came down in His tears.Queerlings remember to be safe....and remember those that didn't know and paid the price. ....since we were doing Elton John songs. This one is the saddest of all songs for our community. 1

Headstall Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 This song made me cry the first time I saw the video... and has every time since...
Lisa Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 James, you got your cat back!! I love anything by Green Day. My kid and I listen to them in the car every day. We've seen "American Idiot" on Broadway three times. I think I'm the one who dragged him there the last two times, though. lol I haven't seen this video until now. It's heartbreaking. It definitely brought me to tears. The guy who plays the boyfriend (husband?) looks familiar. Is he an actor do you know?
comicfan Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 There are a few for me. I don't know if I will list them all but here are a few that work hard at breaking me down. 1st is Elton John song at Princess Diana's funeral - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8gO0Z818j4 2nd is Queen's The Show Must Go On. Freddy was at death's door and this hurts to hear and see. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t99KH0TR-J4 3rd is KD Lang's version of Crying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv7S8v3rM-U 4th is Patsy Cline's I Fall To Pieces https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG-8uZg2uV0 5th is Helen Reddy's Angie Baby https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkJAzviWU4Y and the last I add because of its importance to my mom who has passed away and now just makes me cry

Lisa Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Thanks, James. Wayne, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Such sad songs you posted. I remember watching the funeral and crying, and Elton singing that song was just so beautiful. A beautifully sad song for a beautiful lady. And Helen Reddy and Anne Murray are just fantastic singers. Angie Baby is such a haunting tune. Wow, I haven't thought of Helen Reddy or that song in years.
