By writing poems I might scooch

a little closer for a smooch,

it's very like a kind of drug,

to write and get a poet's hug.

Some of Us Don't Belong Here

The world is an unforgiving place

It will catch you if you’re weak

Can you pretend your whole life through?

I tire of the battle; my soul just wants some peace

Courage, it takes to end it all—

The will to make it so

I’ve tried before more than once

One day maybe I’ll do it right

Some people don’t belong here

They never should have come

I’ve paid for past crimes I can’t recall

But the world won’t let me go

And so I weep silently

Alone in my room at night

But I know I’ll hurt those I love

So I put on my face at the door

That hug I mentioned? I saved it for you. In fact, I have several...

You do belong here - wherever 'here' is, there are people who care about you, deeply.

My above post may seem inane, but there is a story behind that. Actually reading Timmy's amazing poem, I felt inspired and a piece of wonderful poetry was forming in my mind, about two lovers who are exiled from heaven to earth where they meet again, but since are cursed to bring only misery to everyone around them, wreak havoc onto theirs and others lives. Yet for one moment they are reconciled while camping out by the desert, where they make sweet love under the starlight and yeah you guessed it after drinking beer. In approaching dawn they kill themselves and are reunited in heaven once again at the end of their imprisonment on earth. Now I started working on it for a while, then somehow lost the thread. Now only the title remained "Starlight and Heineken". So there you have it, one small stupid haiku, at your service.

tim, little brother, you make me weep and yearn to embrace and hold you, to soothe away the stings and arrows of doubt and ... damn right it would hurt those left behind.

I posted a new poem Music of the Spheres on Occasional Poetry today. You can find it here. https://www.gayauthors.org/story/parker-owens/occasionalpoetry/48   However, I turned my students loose on writing their own last stanza. Here are their alternate endings...

In ocean's churn and river's flow,
in rhythms of the earth below,
as starlight glistens through the oak
I see the couple's royal glow.

Or this...

The dance above mirrored below
in water's ancient ebb and flow,
much older than the ancient oak
is dance Celeste's eternal glow.

Any preference?

I like the flow of the first alternate ending better than the second, but they are both good.

As for the poem:

You did an extraordinary job presenting it as you felt. I know its a risk and not an easy task to do. I appreciate every effort of you put through yourself to write it. Fantastic job.

As for the feeling:

You were wrong. Every person in this world has a purpose. What ever you are feeling is understandable but not appreciable. Whatever the situation is, remember that we are with you. And you should be with us too.

And for the realization:

I am glad to hear that you are back. Or I would have taken a special class for you. Always try to remember me and remember to smile. Because I am waiting for you to smile with you.

I had started to write a meter but...

I wish—I had a better life

I wish—I had a better life

I would smile and stay...

The first line just switched on a light in my brain but when it comes to the second one, my ideas got struck there. I tried many times to think about what to write. Having no words to continue; made me think, does I really know what's a 'better life'??? But I don't have answer for myself...

Sometimes it's better not to try and think ... sometimes it's better to step back and let your subconcious do the thinking.. it will share when the time is right ... hugs xoxo
