we see foxes, raccoons, skunks, rabbits .. .there was the large 10pt buck incident a few years ago, too.  But that's the only time i know of.  We get lots of stink bugs.. omg they are ugly things and they stink.

it's too damn early for this heat.. but we buttoned up the place and it's gotten rather breezy and cloudy.. so maybe there is hope ...

They are saying no haircuts until august!!!!   man bun?  Alice band?  Give Husband scissors?

I'll take your critters over gators, wild boar and coyotes. The gators and coyotes don't bother me but I get nervous when my son goes out to Myakka with his friends. Wild boar are nasty and dangerous.

Cutting hair isn't hard. Trick is to section it properly and take your time. Unless Michael flunked cut and paste in kindergarten then you should be fine. 😉

When all else fails...clippers. buzz cuts grow out fast. Man buns..... just nope.

I've been too lazy to cut my hair. It's been growing for a year and a half now. I trim the front and managed to trim the dead ends off the back once. I like it long...just annoying on windy days when it's in the eyes..nose...mouth. I keep hair ties in my car but do I use them? Not often.

We're in a city.. i hope we don't have wild boar.. we do get coyotes now and again.

You can get/give a decent cut using clippers with guards. Just start off long and then go shorter because you can't paste it back on. It's much safer than scissors if you don't know what you're doing or don't have any experience. Just remember that not everyone has a pretty head and that's usually not revealed until it's too late. 😉

I’m sure you don’t, but maybe it’s a good idea to find out now while we’re all still in hiding...just a thought.

my dear DiC family,

i'm sitting here tonight with some celebratory hot wings, and an adult beverage.
Phil and i saw his retinal specialist today. you'll remember in March the news wasn't good. on April 7 He had an injection in the left eye. today's appointment was set to do a scan of both eyes and see if the swelling, etc. had stabilized.
i am happy to report that His eyes are "stable to mild improvement." He'll go again in 3 months for another scan.
all in all, a VERY good day.

That's amazingly good news molly! So happy for you and Phil.

I am up early to cook my greek chicken thighs which we will have for dinner tonight.  OMG they smell so good. Having an iced coffee too.. first of the season!  It's nice and gray out there so maybe it won't get so hot today.

Used the first of our frozen garlic yesterday. Wow, it was so easy to peel and mash up, i may just freeze it all the time. We have a LOT of frozen garlic. I ordered one head of garlic from Wally World Groceries and they sent 16. Michael and i spent a little time in the kitchen that day, breaking them up into 2 to 4 clove pieces and freezing them but it was really easy to use it straight out of the freezer.

Just sharing in case you decide you need to buy 16 heads of garlic.  :)  🧄

Saturday Salutations everyone!

Trying to get motivated to go into work for a half day.

Grocery shopping is on the agenda. My younger son really like the roasted veggies, he cleared out all the containers I prepped last weekend. Eighteen year olds can be bottomless pits!

I can't go overboard on the food prep this weekend like I normally do. I don’t like leaving a lot in the freezer when we go away. I have a friend who learned that the hard way.

@Mikiesboy garlic is one of my favorites. I  just buy it already minced... too hard to do it myself with a bum thumb. (Hey a rhyme! 😄), but yeah....16 heads of garlic is a lot!

Hope everyone has a good day!

I don’t think I’ll ever be in possession of 16 heads of garlic, but I’ve also never peeled and mashed actual garlic heads before. The freezer trick will be very helpful if I do. Thanks for sharing with the class, tim.

i don't blame you, i think you guys have a lot more options than we do. And it is very hard to find local or north american garlic, even though we grow it here. But frozen, it's just like custard.. very soft and you could mash it with a fork. Still tastes and smells good. We'll get it used up. Maybe I'll make some curry paste.

Michael and i love curry so i make the paste and then freeze it into pucks in silicone muffin trays.. pop them out and into a freezer bag. I did that when i wasn't working from home... the spices/flavours are done and Michael could easily make the curry without me.

That is wonderful news, molly. I am glad for Phil. you must be very relieved.  I hope this trend continues.  Thank you for sharing this with us.

your advice, molly, well, it's very true.  I ignored my own symptoms for a long while. tim likely did save my life.  I have permanent nerve damage to my feet and my blood sugar, which was extremely high, had it gone on ... well, it could well have killed me.

More than knowing the symptoms, when someone who loves you tells you to listen to them, and go to the doctor for tests, then listen and do it.
