Popular Post Headstall Posted August 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2020 Happy Saturday, all! Leafs were losing, down 3-0 with three minutes to go... and scored three goals in three minutes to tie the score and take the game to overtime. Auston Matthews scored the winner... a beauty, and Leafs have another chance to advance to the playoffs if they win on Sunday. 1 5 1

Popular Post dughlas Posted August 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 8, 2020 Goode'en y'all. I've spent most of the day coping with a migraine so have been resting quietly. The day had started with promise. We went for our usual early morning walk. Then about 30 minutes after we got home the migraine started. I had such plans for working in the flower beds. C'est la vie. Be well. 1 2 4

My daughter dropped off my groceries just now but couldn't stay long. She has a photography gig for sunset baby pictures. Guess there's always next week. 7

Popular Post Bucket1 Posted August 9, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 9, 2020 Today was cold and wet. My sisters dog is very happy she put the fire on to dry her washing. Tonight is waves of cold fronts coming through. It’s been awhile since we have had heavy rain and my roof makes it sound so loud. As the cold front moves through it is deafening and then it’s almost silent. Very weird. 5 1 1

And the rain... wish I could dance like Gary to summon some. Third day in a row the temps are above 38°C. Our region has been placed on a red alert for heatwave since Friday evening and it's been extended until Monday 4PM 🥵🥵🥵 The temps are still in the low 20°C at night! I hope you get some sleep despite the rain. Stay warm 6 1

That put me in mind of the following track by The Lovin' Spoonful from way back in 1966: Spoiler It was one of the tracks on a vinyl LP of theirs that I had at the time (1966). I remember myself and my the best friend at the time getting caught out in a summer downpour one day, and singing it to each other as we sat in a shelter in the park waiting for it to stop raining. A bittersweet memory in a way. I was about to head off to university, and he wasn't. We'd effectively been each other's shadow for around six years, and we both knew the closeness between us would be ending when the summer holiday did. We saw each other occasionally over the next few years, but he unfortunately died in a house fire whilst working in the Middle East in the early 1970s.
