Yesterday, because I couldn't get out to buy candy, I baked a large batch of my world famous chocolate chip cookies. Just in case the parents of any of the local kids allowed them to go trick or treating under the current social distancing restrictions, I left a plateful of them inside the front door to hand out if they came knocking.

I'm not sure whether it was because of the current lockdown, or because of Storm Aidan crossing Ireland yesterday bringing strong winds and heavy rain (probably a combination of both those facts),  but I didn't have a single trick or treater knock on the door.

And, because of the high sugar content, I can't eat all the cookies myself, so I'll pass the most of them on to a friend who has kids with sweet teeth. 

I had one Reeses peanut butter cup and gave my friend a bag of them to take into work.  I put the rest in the freezer for my mom.  I won't eat any more of them.  I have my low carb PB brownies

Some good news for Australia, Bucket!

Australia records zero Covid-19 cases for the first time since June

To compare Australia (pop. approx 25 million) with the Republic of Ireland (pop. approx 5 million):

Ireland has had around 61,456 cases and 1,913 deaths since the pandemic began (Australia: 27,500 cases  907 deaths).
Ireland has had 12,797 confirmed cases in the past 14 days.
Yesterday afternoon, Public Health Officials confirmed 416 new daily cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.

Whilst some of the differences could be down to different testing and reporting regimes in the two countries, Australia is definitely doing far better than we are over here in Ireland.

No little Tricksters here but there are only a couple youngsters in the appropriate age bracket in mum's development.  We didn't stock up on candy, instead I had mini bags of microwave popcorn ready in case.

I made bourbon-pecan bars and Guinness brownies on Thursday. Brought them into work to give my coworkers a treat on Friday (since I don't work Saturdays). They were well-received.

It's raining, hailing here... I had a bad spill in the woods because I was wearing my heavy winter boots and I tripped over a fallen branch under the leaves( I didn't have the boots done up). I turned over, and while I was laying on my back, it started hailing, and kept it up for the whole time I laid there. I landed on my fist which was under the edge of my ribcage when I hit the ground, and it is pretty painful. After I got back to the house, I realized I lost my glasses... they were thrown out of my top pocket, and they are my original Guess glasses. So... Cookie and I went back into the woods and searched through the leaves... and I eventually found them. I was really happy about that until I got back and was drying them... one arm came off in my hand. I think it can be fixed... the arm isn't broke... and they really are beautiful glasses.

Sigh... I hate falling....
