Mum and I went out to eat. I had a chopped sirlion steak, aka hamburger steak, smothered in sauteed mushrooms and onion, a baked potato and salad. Mum had shrimp and grits.

Thistle seems improved from yesterday. This morning he rolled onto his back for tummy rubs, hopped off the bed on his own and chose to go down the steps rather than be carried. After eating his breakfast he hopped up to his spot on the loveseat where he's been resting comfortably.

I spent a week trekking in the Havasu portion of the Grand Canyon back in September 2014. There are a number of falls in the area. Havasu Falls are a single drop of about 30 metres (100 feet). Whilst Havasu Falls is spectacular, I think the (much more difficult to get down to) Mooney Falls, at twice the height, were my favourite.

I made oven baked chicken wings and a sauce I've made for years that's real easy. It's just original Kraft barbeque sauce mixed with equal parts Frank's Red Hot and a touch of seasoning salt and garlic and red pepper. I mix them up and let them sit for about ten minutes. It is pure comfort food and ate too many.

Mum and I had shrimp salad over romaine lettuce and chopped tomato. It was hard work I had to clean and cut up the tomato. Thistle and I bought the shrimp salad from a local foodtruck we patronize, the romaine lettuce came in a bag.

Dad was scheduled to have a PET scan to check his cancer progress but COVID lockdowns have stopped distribution of the goo so his scan is cancelled. Not good. I would have thought that was an essential service but apparently not

This is one of the concerns in Ireland (and many other countries, I am sure) at present with the pandemic. Many, many regular and scheduled "non-urgent" procedures and appointments have been either cancelled or postponed. Cancer screening is a typical example. I read a report recently that over a hundred women in Ireland have been told that they will have to have cervical smears, that were taken a number of months ago, taken again, because the laboratory they were sent to had not analysed them quickly enough due to a lack of staff (their excuse was to blame Covid-19). Mental health services are also under strain because of the pandemic.
