US firefighters optimistic over world's biggest tree

a bench on the side of the road: General Sherman, the world's biggest tree, has been wrapped in foil to protect it from flames

On Thursday, General Sherman was wrapped in fire-proof blankets -- aluminum foil intended to protect its giant trunk from the worst of the flames.

I would like to visit General Sherman one day. I hope it survives.

Candied Bacon and Smoked Gouda Burger

with fries:yes:

I made a pot of meat sauce to use up some of my tomatoes. I also used up about half of my peppers... they're smaller than last years, but are delicious. Had a big plate of spaghetti, and it hardly dented the sauce. Fortunately I have a body builder son who eats a LOT. :)  I might add some kidney beans and make chili with some of it.

It would be a shame to lose him. 🤞

My hay is getting delivered tomorrow morning. He called me at suppertime and I had to get back out and get ready for him. Had to move a lot of stuff around and sweep the barn floor.

Today has dawned bright and sunny with pleasant temps and comfortable humidity. Yesterday was extremely muggy and unpleasant.

My hay arrived. It's top quality second cut hay, and will be easy for her to chew.  :D  I'm really pleased... some years it's a little woody(some of it) and that's hard for an old horse, so there is a lot of wastage.

Oh, I forgot to mention I added a strong pinch of Smoked Hot Paprika. I wanted a bit of smoky heat as an undertone to the sweetness of the caramelized onions.

They sound good :)

Good for this meal and the next :)

Hey Gary, I see Clo was right and it’s you who have been stealing my Spring weather…

It has been a very blah weekend weather wise… overcast and cold. None of the flowers were out, not very Spring-like. The “good news” is that next week should be beautiful weather while I am at work

Is the corn on the cob roasted?

I love mine zapped in the microwave then a bit of butter and pepper… yum

Usually husk on to help the steaming

Add corn to empty side of baking sheet and top with 1 tsp. olive oil and 1/4 tsp. salt. Massage oil and salt into corn. Bake in hot oven until corn is tender

We're having crêpes for dessert. With Nutella and whipped cream. So decadent
