The main possible problem with Brexit would be that, if it's not done in an orderly fashion, it could lead to the re-imposition of Border Checks between the Republic and the North - and it may make it difficult for the Republic's trade with other EU states, since most movement of good and services between the two currently take place through Britain. The "Backstop" - which some of you may have heard mentioned in the news - is part of the withdrawal agreement negotiated between the UK and the EU. It specifically deals with the Irish border issue. Unfortunately some Westminster MP's want the backstop scrapped. I'm optimistic things will work out. But I can't help wondering about those MP's that are calling for scrapping the backstop, and whether they have any grasp of the history of the relationships between Britain and Ireland, and the two traditions in the north of Ireland. Someone once said something along the lines of "those who aren't willing to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." I just hope that the clowns in Westminster aren't about to bring about a repeat of the three decades of The Troubles we saw in northern Ireland at the end of the last century. [/end mini rant] 5 2 1

I once saw two farmers almost come to blows in a pub one day because neither was willing to let the other buy the next two pints of Guinness. The barman very nearly threw the pair of them out. 7

So I feel sorry for everyone who has to listen to my raspy, croaky voice today. It's also another sucky weather day. We're supposed to get 5-8" of snow. But at least it's only snow and not a snow/ice/rain mix. According to the weatherman, this is the first snow in February that's only snow! On a positive note... the bathroom reno starts today! Yay to the bathroom! Hey, Val. Snowing heavily here too. Sorry about your laryngitis. 6

I am having an "I don't WANT to go to work day" so of course they call me with errands they forgot to tell me they need done. Why can they not tell me they put the last of the diesel fuel into the tractor BEFORE they run it dry and need to load trucks ? Now need to leave three hours before my first lesson to get fuel because the first dump truck is sitting there waiting. I want to tell them lack of planning on their part does not constitute an emergency on my part. Hey, Kitt. Sorry your day's going bad. 5

It's way better than the one I'm currently in: 35m², ground floor (perfect for Looping), good size living room with 2 windows and the front door and an amazing open kitchen with lot of nice red cupboards and big counter ending in a bar/high standing table kind of, a small bedroom in the continuity of the living room with a cute round opening as a door and a build in closet on one wall and a bathroom with a shower. Price in interesting. I'm currently at 435€ water and electricity bills included. The one I'll visit is at 420€ without electricity bill which I think will be in the 20€. It's about the same distance to the city center, in a one way street with free parking on both sides, there are a kindergarten and a primary school at the start of the street so it should be quiet. Don't know if you'll be able to access the link https://www.leboncoin.fr/locations/1573198344.htm/ Cute place. Sounds like things are working out. Fingers crossed you get it! 5 2
