Please translate into American, my English bro. I know fries are chips obviously. But chippy, is that like a shop, a street vendor, a massive depot where you can pick up large quantities of chips like Sam's Club, what? Also as a total aside, do you eat your fried fish with balsamic vinegar. It's so delicious that way? Edited April 4 by spike382 1 6

He grew up eating them because his mum was English. Mum and I went to Bonefish Grill for dinner. Mum had crabcakes and a salad. While I had their Anglers Catch, a special combo of batter dipped fish, fried shrimp and fries that's only available on Ash Wddnesday and the Fridays during Lent. Sadly, no malt vinegar but rather nice tartar and cocktail sauces. 7

Given the context, a chippy is a fish and chip shop - usually for takeaway. However if he was having a chippy over to quote on some work, he would be talking about a carpenter 7
