Any relation to WOW - whip em out Wednesday? That was a radio promotion around here in which women were encouraged to publically display their breasts. I do not recall the intended benifit but it caught on quickly among the college set.

I have worked with groups of 5 to 9 yr olds, coming from ALL walks of life, and not for a week at a time during summer vacation, but for 9 months a year on a daily basis for more than 12 years. Some come from environments exactly like you describe- and you are right - having supportive caring adults around DOES make a difference. You cannot however state unequivocally that a bad kid is caused by a bad parent - you simply cannot know the whole story every time! Are some bad kids caused by bad parents? Yes! and it is great that you have been able to help some of them. But to condemn all parents of kids who have taken a wrong turn in life is a bit narrow minded don't you think?

Well come on in and make yourself comfortable. We are actually a pretty diverse bunch, but a more supportive group of people would be difficult to find!

I agree - abandoning the kid at this stage was wrong. I cannot agree that it is always the parents fault when a kid goes bad. At 21 you have a lot more learning to do. Hell - at 53 and a mom i have more learning to do! If it is "bad parenting" then explain to me how the family I described earlier has 4 biological children, all of whom are fine, upstanding citizens? The psychopath I told you about was adopted at the same time as his biological sister. The girl turned out fine too. There was obviously something much more at work than "bad parenting". And as for "fixing it"? I hate to tell you, but some things just cannot be fixed. If they could there would be no need for psychiatric facilities designed for lifetime incarceration.

Interesting where the lack of one silly little prescription a day can lead isn't it?

Ummm, if naval personnel didn't participate in the war, who flew all those carrier based jet bombing missions? I was under the impression that we have had a heavy navy presence in the gulf for quite some time. You hear much more about naval aviators than you do about actual air force. I am admittedly not much on military tactics, but wouldn't MOST of the air based bombing and reconnaissance have been provided by the navy? They could launch and recover from a carrier in the gulf where as air force would have had to originated at a land based airfield adding many miles to the trips. Ok guys - one of you has to be up on this stuff! Am I mistaken?

That was my point exactly Rustle! We simply cannot just blame the parents because we do not know all the facts. In the case I was personally acquainted with, the adoptive parents took both the boy and his sister at the same time. She grew up well adjusted and is a mom of two herself now. He took a major wrong turn somewhere, and in spite of continued follow up care, counciling and behavior modification medications became uncontrollable. Hence the outcome. I am not saying what those parents did was right, all I am saying is there could be a hell of a lot more to the situation than meets the press.

There is more to it than that Z. There are extreme cases in which the child in question is beyond help while remaining in the home. Admittedly rare, there are cases of FAS babies who develop severe psychosis as they grow. I know one such adopted FAS baby that was provided with years of counseling etc but was eventually committed to a psychiatric facility after intentionally burning down the family home. At the time of commitment the courts assumed custody and relieved the adoptive parents of the burden.

There are all sorts of 911 related conflict Mark can employ without sending someone to war. Maybe its a function of how close I live to NYC and it may not have been as tense in say Iowa or somewhere like that, but for a very long time my Muslim neighbors couldn't sneeze without someone reporting them to the police or a tip hotline. The most notable thing about that is that the neighbor in question was even more outraged about the act of terrorism in the name of his religion than most of the neighborhood.

That is much easier for some of us than others! ( Pulls on a skirt.) Methinks some bosses would not care for the idea!

Westie has a point - I think Brad just wants to see Robbie's wishes carried out - even if the IRS made it difficult. I don't see the Hayes family being something he would calculatedly try and control. In fact - if he would actually stop and think about how to control people around him he might actually have some success at it. We've seen that his knee jerk control methods sure don't work.

oops - sorry Guess they tend to blend together since they are one huge family!

Is a Dream a premonition? Should I write about it?
Kitt commented on W_L's blog entry in Life is worth an entry
If you choose not to write it, the idea will nag at the back of your mind. And if you turn out to sound like you have been hanging with Apollo so be it! -
World Trade Center Officially Tallest Skyscraper In America
Kitt replied to methodwriter85's topic in The Lounge
Well they sort of have to go up, there is no space to spread out any more! But I think there was a lot more to it than just wanting to be the tallest. -

19 yo to lose his virginity in public as "performance art"
Kitt replied to Zombie's topic in The Lounge
I think you misunderstood my "his decision" comment. It is my opinion that the decision here was if he should save the act for an intimate and loving thing with his intended partner, or to do this in public for the shock value and call it art. The idea of non-consensual sex never even entered my mind in association with this discussion. And I happen to agree with you - but then, like I said, I am an old straight lady and think that sex is always better when love is involved, or at the very least some level of caring for your partner!- 122 replies

Kitt replied to Zombie's topic in The Lounge
Dumb old straight lady question for you - A lot of people seem to be in favor of this piece of "performance art". Others seem to look at it as a "his decision" sort of thing. Would the reactions be the same if it was a 19 yr old FEMALE virgin planning this?- 122 replies

That struck me as a tad odd, After watching everything Brad and Will had gone through over the last 18 months and being one of Wills biggest supporters why on earth would Wade suddenly turn into a budding Brad and start planning to turn Ethan into a "proper Dansfield"? It makes me wonder what deviltry you have up your fountain pen this time! Good thing Matt has Wades number! Looks like he is going to connect to Ethan better than Wade will at this point. Waiting (no so) patiently for the next chapter. You spoiled us just a little by posting so often around the fateful day, and now we need to adjust to waiting again, but your work is so worth the wait! Thank you.
