    1-7 - The Signs

This was a great chapter. I like how you portrayed Mrs. Pallet. She's a grieving mother who just wanted the best for her child. I appreciate how she's a regular person... a Christian without being fundamentalist. And how she would have accepted Ethan without judgment, even if she didn't completely understand his feelings. You also showed how there were deeper issues that led to Ethan's suicide. The use of the journal was a good vehicle for that. I found it interesting that Caleb didn't feel Ethan's presence in his room, despite the light and being surrounded by his things. I love Liz's explanation. That he feels him in his own room because that's where Ethan wanted to be. Great job!
  2. I can totally relate to how Caleb is feeling. When your world shatters, it's hard to know how to go on. It's a good thing he has Liz to smack him out of it. She's 100% right. While communication would have helped, Ethan chose to go a different route. I like Liz a lot. She's a strong character who will help Caleb get through this. This is not something you ever get over, but Caleb will learn how to live with it. Now I'm thinking maybe I should have waited until you were done posting to start reading... lol

    1-4 - The Truth

So sad. I think you captured the shock and grief perfectly.
  4. Damn, Cynus... What a heartbreaking chapter. If only Ethan and Caleb had communicated sooner. But then we would have a much different story. I'm glad I let a few chapters accumulate The chapter comment notifications is a bug that they've been working on since the site upgrade. For now, you can go to "Activity", "My Activity Streams", then "Newest Comments on my stories/chapters". That will show you if you have any new comments.

    City Seen

I liked this a lot. People watching can be very interesting. What's the true story behind the actions you observe? Sometimes it's better left unknown. Great job, Parker.
  10. I love this story! Great choice. I'm looking forward to the discussion day.

    Ebb and Flow

The chapter was worth the wait. Even though Travis is facing charges, it seems their relationship keeps solidifying. I'm glad Ben isn't going anywhere. These two need each other.
  12. Poor Ethan. Your writing really made me feel the energy of the spell. I have a feeling Liz is going to be performing more spells before the story is over.

    A Small Pebble

This is going to be an emotional roller coaster--I can feel it already. I trust you to get us through it, though. And I'll be sure to have plenty of tissues ready.
  14. Nice job, Def. I need to put the air conditioner on now... *fans self*

    Picnic

This is such a lovely outing and I again picture the setting so clearly. In fact, I believe I've had my own picnic lunch in the same spot. I'll think of Twoey, Andy, and crew the next time I visit the park.
  16. I'll be sure to check this story out when I get a chance. I love Comicfan's stories,, but I seem to have missed this one.

    Early Morning

I can hear the road music clearly in the first poem. I swear the early morning amplifies those sounds. The second reminds me of an encounter I experienced while on the trail in the Arizona desert. I was riding one of the ranch horses bareback through a vibrant area across the road when he stopped dead and stared down the trail. About thirty feet or so ahead of us was the most spectacular mule deer buck staring back. The tableau lasted for a good couple of minutes before the deer ran off and we resumed our trek. It was an incredible experience. Thank you for bringing me back there.

  19. I get an error message. I am not able to view it. I use a laptop with Windows 10 and Google Chrome.
  20. This pretty much sums up all my reactions while watching the finale: https://www.buzzfeed.com/andyneuenschwander/80-thoughts-i-had-watching-the-game-of-thrones-finale-this?bffbvideo&utm_term=.wvjnYA9Ap#.gyWZnkmkN
  21. At least... 18 months is what I heard.
  22. I've read 10k word chapters that felt like 1k and some 3k chapters that felt like 20k, if that makes sense. So, in other words, as long as you convey what the chapter is meant to in a concise manner, then the length doesn't matter. So it's not the size, it's what you do with it.
  23. No, I'm not familiar with it. I'll check it out. Thanks
  24. Great interview! I have to agree with you on your assessment of dragons. They are pretty darn cool. Great advice for authors too. I fell into the same trap when I first started writing. I wanted everything to be perfect, so I kept revising as I went. I still do, to a certain extent, but not as much. I need to remind myself sometimes to just write and then revise.
  25. So who's ready for the finale?
