I love that the last two lines inspired the poem. The ending of my story "Alex's Legacy" was what prompted me to write the entire story, so I can relate. It's well-done as always. Very evocative. The blue jay really stood out to me as well.

If I am home, then I buy way more candy than I need for the handful of trick-or-treaters that I get and eat all the rest. lol I've spent a few Halloweens visiting my BFF, and I would go with her and her family to the town trick-or-treating event. I love Halloween. I would say it's my favorite holiday.

There are lots of calls for a sequel. I think I can come up with something...just might be a while since I have the fall antho and some other projects in the works right now. I should have had the spider make a reappearance at some point... lol Thanks for the review, Gary. I'm glad you liked it.

Awww...thanks so much! I'm so glad you liked the story. It's funny, but I was digging through my purse the other day to find something and found a betting ticket from our day at the races. lol Of course it's Allen that's afraid of spiders... Good thing he has Bradley to protect him.

While Brownies are the closest equivalent to the 'helpers', they are a bit removed from their English ancestors so have evolved a bit differently perhaps... or else it's just artistic license on my part. lol Thanks for the review. I'm glad you liked it.

Thanks for the great review. I'm so glad you liked the story. I had intended it to be a stand-alone story with no intentions of a sequel, but ideas have been churning in my brain, so you may get a part 2 at some point. No promises, though. lol You ask some great questions. According to faery lore, if you eat or drink anything from faery it forever binds you to them and that realm. Maybe there's a way to counteract it, though...if Mikie even wants to. See? Lots of ideas! lol Now I have 'Thriller' playing in my head... lol Thanks again for the review

Hard-hitting and gut-wrenching. I understand that voice all too well. I'm glad you included the preface. I imagine writing these is very cathartic for you. It makes those of us who care about you want to hug and hold you until that damn voice goes away. -
A blood-curdling scream brought Bradley running from outside the house into the living room. His partner was nowhere to be seen. He darted into the kitchen, stopping at the open cellar door.
