  1. I loved this story. It made my geeky heart happy.
  2. Sorry to hear that.
  3. A very merry day of existence to you! Have a devil cake
  4. If I am home, then I buy way more candy than I need for the handful of trick-or-treaters that I get and eat all the rest. lol I've spent a few Halloweens visiting my BFF, and I would go with her and her family to the town trick-or-treating event. I love Halloween. I would say it's my favorite holiday.
  5. Thanks
  6. I wanted to keep readers guessing about Zeke, so I'm glad that worked. Thanks for the review! I'm sure there will be more at some point.
  7. There are lots of calls for a sequel. I think I can come up with something...just might be a while since I have the fall antho and some other projects in the works right now. I should have had the spider make a reappearance at some point... lol Thanks for the review, Gary. I'm glad you liked it.
  8. Awww...thanks so much! I'm so glad you liked the story. It's funny, but I was digging through my purse the other day to find something and found a betting ticket from our day at the races. lol Of course it's Allen that's afraid of spiders... Good thing he has Bradley to protect him.
  9. I have some ideas for a sequel. I still need to finish my fall anthology story, so it's not a priority right now. I'd love some helpers to do my housework, too! lol Thanks again for your help!
  10. We need more kids like him in the world.
  11. While Brownies are the closest equivalent to the 'helpers', they are a bit removed from their English ancestors so have evolved a bit differently perhaps... or else it's just artistic license on my part. lol Thanks for the review. I'm glad you liked it.
  12. Good questions...maybe a Part 2 is in order. Like I said to LadyDe the ideas are spinning... No promises, though. Thanks for the review!
  13. Thanks for the great review. I'm so glad you liked the story. I had intended it to be a stand-alone story with no intentions of a sequel, but ideas have been churning in my brain, so you may get a part 2 at some point. No promises, though. lol You ask some great questions. According to faery lore, if you eat or drink anything from faery it forever binds you to them and that realm. Maybe there's a way to counteract it, though...if Mikie even wants to. See? Lots of ideas! lol Now I have 'Thriller' playing in my head... lol Thanks again for the review
  14. Thanks for the review, Parker. I'll leave what happened in the future up to your imagination...
  15. Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked it.
  16. Hard-hitting and gut-wrenching. I understand that voice all too well. I'm glad you included the preface. I imagine writing these is very cathartic for you. It makes those of us who care about you want to hug and hold you until that damn voice goes away.
  17. A blood-curdling scream brought Bradley running from outside the house into the living room. His partner was nowhere to be seen. He darted into the kitchen, stopping at the open cellar door. He stood at the head of the stairs, then darted out of the way as Allen barreled toward him. Relief flooded through him at the sight of his husband, then turned to fear when he saw the expression on the other man’s face. The normally tan man was pale white, his brown eyes wide with terror. He shoved Br
  18. Bradley and Allen move into a new house in the country. They love their idyllic, new life until their son meets a new friend.

    Chapter 1

Nice start I like David and want to protect Jae, too. I'm looking forward to seeing where you take us.
  20. Yes. This was my first kitty, Sebastian. There's a pic of him in my Gallery. He's the one full of cobwebs. lol
  21. Yes, it would be lol I will say that there are an awful lot of 9 year olds in our area...
  22. I left out the torches... Oh and this is a story set on a ranch, so there are plenty of pitchforks to be found. lol
  23. Ten years ago today, I left work and headed to my car, cursing the light snowfall. While not unheard of, snow in October is rare in my area, especially early October. I headed home, figuring that it would stop and melt off fairly quickly--a dusting, at most. By the time I turned onto my street, it was evident that this was no mere dusting, and we were in for a lake effect storm. On October 12th. I made it home early enough that I was able to park in my driveway. I spent the evening listening to thunder and lightening along with the snapping of branches and crashes of tree limbs. I'll never forget it. My power lasted until about 9:30 that night. It went off in the middle of a very intense episode of CSI. It would remain off for ten days. I lived in the hardest hit area. The next morning I ventured outside to about eight inches of snow. I had no food in the house because, of course, it happened to fall when I needed groceries. I found that fallen wires saved my car from being crushed by a tree limb: And my beloved hawthorn tree was folded in half like an umbrella: The street was riddled with fallen trees and branches, along with cars that hadn't made it into driveways. I walked to the corner store, hoping that they were open and doing a cash business, but they were closed. My cat and I ended up staying at my parents' house for a week, since they had a wood-burning stove. My parents' 90 year old next door neighbor also stayed with us. My aunt was lucky enough to still have power, so her house was the gathering spot for us all to get a hot meal and do our laundry. The area lost tens of thousands of trees during that storm. The weight of the snow was too much for the fully-leafed trees, so the branches snapped like matchsticks, turning the area into what looked like the aftermath of a hurricane. The storm came during a time of transition for me. I was working two part-time jobs at the time and was miserable at both. I applied for a new job and gave my notice to both my other jobs when I was hired shortly thereafter. To be quite honest, I took that job because I had to. I needed to work to pay my bills, and there was nothing else available. I expected to be there a year, maybe two, tops. Next month will be my ten year anniversary there. It took ten days for power to be restored, over a month for my phone service to be straightened out, and the landscape was forever changed. When I look back now, I'm amazed at the difference in my life in those ten years. Sometimes change is good.
  24. :D Yay! Now we don't need to come after you with as many pitchforks.
