What a loaded chapter! Now that we have so many answers, and Milan and Rory are "sneaking off," I assume the end is near. This is such an engaging story! Moments of calm, some humor, and great action have made this a terrific story! Add to that characters that you can't help but love, and you have a really well written story. Looking forward to more. Beautifully written, but sad. You really captured Derek's personality and your life together. I liked your sentiments about the day of his death. Some years a brief, few words, and some years a burden of sadness. It is that way for me too. Thanks for sharing this, mostly, beautiful memory.

I never had a biological brother, but I enjoyed this story about family. I believe in the idea that the members care for and about each other. Thank you and happy holidays.

I had to look up lyric poetry. I had heard the term, but had no clue. As usual, you paint an interesting word picture. Early lyric poetry was often set to music. I tried to imagine this set to music. Not being very musical, I didn't get far. The good news is it doesn't matter. Your poem works well just as a poem. Thanks.

I am getting closer in age to Charlie, John, and Mal, and I recognize their complaints and sympathize with their feelings. I chuckled throughout this story, but I also appreciated the underlying sadness. As always, your writing is interesting and enjoyable. Thank you.

Thanks for the note about meeting the boyfriend's parents for the first time. It made the interesting transition from fluffy snow to a walk to the gallows more understandable. I guess I am on a WolfM marathon. In reading the comments, I realized this is a third reading for me. Even knowing a lot of what was coming next, it was still a good story. Engaging characters in a sad, but well written story. I applaud not only your writing skills, but your strength and stubbornness to survive. I hope life is mostly good for you.
