    Chapter 66

Many thanks for your in memoriam, Mark. I’m almost 65 and have just heard the words “God Save the King” only it’s not Granger’s officers but real life. What a great scene with the stupid envoy. As Oscar Wilde said, “sometimes it is not only a pleasure to speak one’s mind but also a duty!” I can feel this journey drawing to a close. Yarmouth isn’t so far away…. Unless a tropical storm hits the North Sea to keep Granger waiting, thanks you so much, Mark 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
  2. Lovely, lovely, lovely 🥰

    Chapter 47

So agree with centexhairysub (I so love the name!), okay it is possible that Z**h was nicer today. Can it last, though. Yes, I have a soft spot as well for Alaister - perhaps he will be Harvard bound, ummm as ever, thank you Mark as I enjoy a day off. Kids started back to school yesterday and today it’s a holiday in the town. Only in Spain….

    A really thought-provoking analysis. Thanks. 🤗

    Chapter 46

I’ve decided that a heroic death is no longer an option for Z**h. He needs to be disposed of, pain an optional extra… 👿👿👿👿👿👿
  6. Good news, I suppose. As I predicted, I got it a week after gov allowed kids not to wear masks in class…… my brother-in-law has been ill for 2 months although 3 vax.. still, time to read GA and chill. Hugs ( with safety distance) from Spain Xxx
  7. I was a bit luckier. Although my died died suddenly aged only 56, my mother survived him by many years and in her eighties began to regale us with stories of being nine when the war started, the naughty things she got up to , But I never kissed an American!, etc. thank you for writing this piece. It’s got me thinking 🤔
  8. Another session showing off your skill. This was spooky. (BTW, my brother-in-law was an incredible sleepwalker. He once got out of bed, went downstairs sleepwalking went into the kitchen, put a chair on a table, climbed up and took out the lightbulb 💡 Totally unaware. My sister was pretty scared!)
  9. What Mancunian said!
  10. A great and thought-provoking use of the prompt. And the end is perfect. I’m no writer of fiction but as a reader I really like your style a lot. Keep working at it please!
  11. Hope you get away with just light symptoms- it’s a bummer this COVID thing 🤗
  12. As advertised by the author, this is not the usual mega saga but a 4,000 word piece. CJ, Ozzie and Liebe are back in DC after Mexico finished so badly. The three densely-packed chapters are a valid piece of writing in their own right but together they show us passing on to the importance of future plans. all is written by a master of plotting and characterization, who else but don Carlos H. Essential reading for his many, many fans. good one, Carlos

Wow. Thank you so much. I’m a Brit so shouldn’t be emotional ( like Granger in Bridgemont, haha), but I really feel that you should know how much you keep us amused, yes, but sane YES. As we say in my adopted country: un abrazote 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗. Tomorrow GaryL starts putting finger to keyboard. Ok pen to paper sounds nicer. Love from Valencia

I’m in awe of how you write ms M. I’ve got my ideas and just need to write- I can do academic articles, course books but haven’t the ….. to put myself on the line with fiction. I’ve had a shit two years health wise with a misdiagnosis of stage four liver disease - which was confirmed and then exposed as crap in the same hospital. You, Carlos H, and Mark A, and others, have kept me sane. Now it’s payback time so get ready to “like” my poor efforts. Huge hugs

    You did a good job!

    Chapter 77

Firstly, some facts: this was written 8yrs ago, second, I am a confirmed Arbour fan and addict. That said, rereading this truly amazing Odyssey has been a huge pleasure. I’m a historian by training, though a DPhil from Oxford in medieval monasteries is a bit different from the Napoleonic Wars (!), and have to say that the historical detail is wonderful, the way on board is created in such a lively way, and, above all, as literature and not history, the characters you have invented or adopted are almost real in front of our eyes. well done and I hope you realise, Mark, that your labours of old are still bringing pleasure. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
  22. Fantastic chp to start the weekend after first days at school 🏫
  23. And now 10 years on it is still fresh as a daisy! Totally agree with Daddy D re Davina. There must be a special ring in hell for her (and Zach from another world). This is indeed one of the best in the series - but what follows in the next installment is truly amazing. it’s the last day of my summer holiday and I’m pigging out on George’s adventures. Perfection

    Chapter 44

But the lack of a phone call on 9.11 anniversary or his birthday etc. Mark, your talent is, I have to admit, best shown in characters who drive readers mad, or inspire, or who make us laugh with them. In the years I have been reading GA , in sickness and now health, your characters have been truly entertaining in the best sense. Thank you so much
  25. Poor Northman. He just needs love. Or a dog, or now a monkey?? Spare him, Carlos!
