  1. I think my fellow readers have summed up all my feelings so I'll just leave you some emojis. 🐟🍴🙏😣😠😢😘😍💔😢😵
  2. Wow, those were 3 life changing days! It seems like he released so much pent-up anger and guilt that he was able to move on finally. New beginnings have a way of consuming us to the point that we forget how important those old grudges seemed to be. This chapter felt like a rebirth for Mitch. I look forward to their after dinner conversation.

It's hard for me to understand, even harder to sympathize, people who are hateful to anyone who doesn't believe and look like them. I suppose there are a few who hate out of ignorance or one bad personal experience, but most of the haters seem to honestly feel that they have a god-given right to decide how everyone should look, act, and believe. The internet has had a dramatic effect on our availability to information. People can have a community online, which can be a life-line to the disaffected, or a pulpit for haters. I think that Eric is strong enough now to survive his 15 minutes of fame.
  4. I have a machete used exactly the same amount of time!
  5. I was just getting ready to mow the back 40 (actually only 2.5 acres) with my zero turn (thankfully not a scythe!), but I sat down and read this chapter first. You'll have to try harder next week!
  6. Thank you for a big dose of happiness to brighten my day off! I think that the two older stubborn men will eventually have a long overdue talk. But the best part of this story is the relationship between Coy and Boone.

    Him

The son of an intelligence officer dropping out of school sounds highly unlikely to me. I'm confused, how is a 17 year old drop-out in the army? And at his father's base? This is not how the current U.S. military works.
  8. Should Cody feel guilty? Hell yes! He was unnecessarily cruel. Is he responsible for the attempted suicide, no. Are Jake's parents responsible, of course not. Could they all have done a better job of communicating and support, absolutely! The problem with 16 year olds is that they are so hormonal and self absorbed that they see everything as the best thing ever or the end of the world. As their brains and bodies develop and they have more life experiences, they even out and adapt to change. I would not live through that age again for anything!
  9. I think we all agree that Will and Mitch need to take that long walk together and talk it out. I'm hoping the repeated mention of the neighboring property is actually foreshadowing!

    Mating Flights

I'm sorry to hear that the end is near, both because of the pain of losing S'brin and the pain of losing this saga. I know we got closure on D'gar's story, but a book on his experiences as weyrlingmaster would be much appreciated!
  11. If Corbin gives in to Leah, as he seemed ready to do before she stole his phone, then he has lost any sympathy I had for him. I feel sorry for Troy (and Jerry) for getting mixed up with this screwed up family.
  12. Finally! Corbin has been wanting to do that for years! Now, a difficult conversation with Leah. I don't think she'll take it well.
  13. I'm trying to feel sympathy for Corbin's mom. She has finally admitted that Don is a violent abusive asshole and wants to divorce him. But she still wants her sweet daughter to have a relationship with a violent abusive asshole? Don tried to murder her son! Why wouldn't she want him locked up?! Mom seriously needs some psychological help.
  14. Please don't let Mitch leave before Will talks to him. Both men have been in love and alone for so long, and that is way worse than just alone!
  15. I feel so sad for Corbin. I couldn't hate his father more than I do for causing Corbin to feel like he is at fault. Can you please cause a storm that capsizes his new boat?! With him in it of course! Too bad that fat floats! Please let Troy and Jerry intervene, because it's obvious that his mother and Leah will do nothing. Zoe would do anything for him, but she is only 14. Corbin and Zoe deserve so much more than they are getting out of life.

    Chapter 42

Their attitude reminds me of European explorers from hundreds of years ago. Indigenous peoples were viewed as less than, therefore expendable. Wild prey shifters were seen by Eike as lesser beings and he got some creepy thrill out of killing other shifters. He's a serial killer.

    Chapter 55

I'm not too surprised that the Kardoval are not very trusting, any technologically advanced race that has managed to remain secret from the rest of the known universe has got to have some paranoia and trust issues. I think Sonez is looking for his plaything. I hope he finds a cerops instead.
  18. Clueless Corbin alone on a boat with besotted Troy. Sounds like a story written by Zoe!
  19. I think it will take a while for Corbin to figure out that he is more attracted to boys than girls. He is not very self-aware. He does not seem to possess any gaydar at all. I can't figure if Corbin's dad had some bad experience that he didn't handle well causing his hatred and anger, or whether he's just insane. Who goes from good, loving dad to hating your 13 year old kid because he likes art? That's just crazy.

    Chapter 41

It's too bad a other shifter got hurt, but they will catch him more quickly if he fights rather than runs. He won't win a fight against the Alpha or Shea, let alone a fight against a team of people.

    Chapter 54

So humans discovered the four-arms? Did they already know but didn't make it common knowledge? I somehow doubt that his parents cared enough to go to the trouble. Does Essell have a tracker inside him? Why wasn't it detected? What's up with the scrolls? Soooo many questions that have to wait a whole week or more!

    Chapter 10

I understand that a different species, especially one Vulcan-like emotionally, would have issues relating to humans, but the puritans are screwing this up big-time. Adam is not getting what he needs to settle in mentally. For someone as important to their survival, you would think they would put in more effort.
  23. The best part of my day off! I love Coy's unbridled personality. He decides he's going to do something and does it. I hope it doesn't backfire on him. I can't wait to be the fly on the wall when the two old friends? lovers? rivals? meet up by "accident"!
  24. I'm so angry at Dean's uncle. I hope that he tells Joey, who will either go to the cops or to his parents. It doesn't look like he has any intention of telling his parents himself.

    Chapter 9

All our comments are now off one chapter, back to chapter 5 or 6. Hopefully this will get fixed for new readers, or they will be confused, also might be some spoilers. Apart from all this confusion, I'm really enjoying the direction the story is going. The Puritans are an odd mixture of utopian society and stepford wives (or husbands). It's interesting that we are hearing about the people left on earth, I guess this means we are not done with them yet?
