  1. The House Always Wins is a great story, as is anything by Angr0gene. I was very happy to see him land here at GA. If you haven't read his work, I highly recommend you give it a try. Oh, and Joe's good, too.
  2. Just looked that up, WL, it's smack dab in the middle of George Washington University. You'll be a few blocks from the Foggy Bottom metro stop, the Kennedy Center, and the National Mall. Excellent location.
  3. The first draft was awesome! But seriously over the top. The shoes had to stay. The only thing better than the shoes is Stef yelling. Teenagers are incredible creatures. Not too long ago, I made a midnight run to our local convienence store and bought every pack of Nerds they had on their shelf because that was the only thing my in the middle of a PMS meltdown daughter wanted. And after several hours of her alternately crying at her father every time he looked at her and snapping at me just for breathing, making that trip was well worth the late night drive. Cutting shoes in half made perfect sense.

    Prologue

Okay - You've got my interest.
  5. Completely agree with Cia about the water and cup.
  6. "It's got a good beat and you can dance to it." Spent most of my growing up years watching, and dancing around the livingroom with my sisters, to American Bandstand.
  7. “Here's all you have to know about men and women: women are crazy, men are stupid. And the main reason women are crazy is that men are stupid.” ― George Carlin
  8. Yeah - I'm in for a lunch or dinner. My girls want to come, too.
  9. Well when you get co-author status, you can write the stories any fucking way you wish. Until such time, it would behoove you to remember who is the actual author.
  10. Seriously...I'm a Scorpio. Supposedly, that means I'm bitchy. As if...
  11. You can never so wrong with TheZot's stories. His shorts are some of the best I've ever read.
  12. Happy Birthday Westie!!! Best wishes for a great day.
  13. The possibilities of that phrase just boggle the mind.
  14. My first thought was 'Who the hell is Trevor?'. I had to go look at the posted chapter. I've been reading a lot of St. Vincent lately. My bad.
  15. Take a deep breath, hold it a second. Now breathe out slowly. Stand up straight. Smile. <nods head> You'll be fine.
  16. Who knows, it may just start tap dancing as well.
  17. I love Jack's stories! You always know you'll be well entertained. It Stays In Vegas is my second favorite series from Jack. His 'Splash' series, for me, is at the top.
  18. His loss, Viv. Right now he's too foolish to realize that, but he will. May the second part of your life bring you peace and happiness.
  19. I, for one, love serialized fiction. Those of us who had the pleasure of following Desert Dropping from its inception were so involved in the story, so not patiently waiting for the next installment, and so busy speculating in the Domaholics forum about what may or may not happen next that any perceived drag in the plot wasn’t noticeable. Reading the story in one sitting, as our reviewer probably did, wouldn’t produce the same drama as installment reading did for the rest of us. And, of course, it’s full of teenage angst. It is supposed to be. Dom is, and will always be, the King of Teenage Angst. Anyone who reviews a story is certainly entitled to his or her opinion. That’s the beauty of fiction. It’s subjective based on a reader’s wants, feelings, desires. My opinion of a story doesn’t have to match your opinion to give that story value. Desert Dropping isn’t my favorite Dom story. Rory has to be the whineiest little shit ever created. Somewhere buried in a thread in his forum, Dom even said Rory was the most annoying character he’d created. But to be able to create a character that causes your readers to want to reach through their computer screen and strangle is a magical skill. Not all authors have it; it’s not something that can be taught. Dom had the ability to make it look easy. *As a side note to management: I disliked the way this review was presented. Lugh knew exactly what he was doing by withholding the reviewer’s identity and, with his opening gambit, intentionally baiting a portion of this site’s membership while Cia stood by with her ruler smacking anyone’s knuckles that responded just the way Lugh wanted. It’s like some twisted version of good cop, bad cop. Other author reviews have been handled in a straightforward manner. This one wasn’t just to make a point. I have never understood that fine line of utter contempt this site shows toward one of its best and most popular authors.
  20. I'd also suggest that new authors step away from the ellipses. Sometimes I think authors are enthralled with that particular punctuation mark. If you use it too much, you run the risk of your characters just looking wishy-washy.
  21. Working It Out is by far one of my favorite stories, I read this years ago and have reread it at least a half dozen times.
  22. People who buy a vowel on Wheel of Fortune.
  23. Lugh is correct.* *this time
