Nick and Dave are off to college, but sadly not the same one. While Nick is attending Sapswell with all their friends from secondary school, Dave is commuting every day to Dorcrest Independent College. Staying together when you have to work to see each other every day is hard, especially when a new activity takes over much of Nick's spare time, namely his new rock band.

Mike has been depressed since his boyfriend dumped him six months ago. Now it's coming up on Valentine's Day and he has to figure out how to deal with the worst day of the year to be single.

'I collect pretty boys. Whenever I see one—slight and effeminate, with long lashes and rosy lips—I want to own him. I want to make him want me. Adore me. Love me.'
