The continuing story of Alexander Huon Devonport

At an army barracks in Australia's arid Northern territory, Captain Mark Phillips and Corporal Scott Garnett fall in love. Their only fear is that the army's anti-fraternization rules will force them apart. Then at some stage, their relationship becomes associated with an investigation into the murder of gay servicemen. Consequently, they have to choose between their love for each other and their army careers.

It’s the early 1950’s in Australia and Ryan Seaton has a dark secret. At twelve years old he’s discovered he’s a homosexual and in that decade being gay could be fatal. Added to that, his mother uses emotional blackmail, making his home-life miserable. Then his best mate confides he’s also gay, but the combined hostility of society, religion and the law, ensures that any relief is short-lived. Tragedy follows.

The decade known as the 1950’s was word-wide, the worst time to be gay, but out of the depths of despair a new period of enlightenment began. This is the story of some young souls living through and surmounting that awful decade.

Whether you follow war, like war, read about war or are interested in war it is sadly a fact of life, but can make fascinating reading. The war in Afghanistan is still in play even as I write this in 2021. The country has been through many wars but ‘Him in the dust’ is a point in history (2005-2006) where I decided to start the book that you will read.

Summer arrives and the fellows head to Paris for internships where they are also preparing for the birth of a child. When school resumes, events turn upside down, and the fellows realize that they are still being followed by forces who seek to destroy them and their family.

This is a multi-chapter sci-fi story primarily about 11 to 18 year-olds, though some chapters deal with adults. There is sexual exploration, graphic descriptions of violence, religious themes, and the development of a master-slave relationship. There is bit of sex, but nothing too graphic.
