This is an odd little story adapted from an idea for a collaboration a long time ago. It changes points of view and goes from first person to third, although not within the same chapter...I think. The name comes from a 'saying' or 'colloquialism' that equates everything being jake; to everything being fine or good, which in the end it is. Or is it?

Brandon thinks he's fine. He thinks he can alienate his emotions and box them up. But can he really? And when someone comes along and reminds him, opening up his little box of horrors, what happens?

Ian has never fit in. His personality leaves people cold. Tired of the club scene and one-night stands, he goes in search of something real and finds someone he never expected in a place he never would've looked.

In the summer of 1993, a group of high school friends in a small town are forced to grow up overnight when love, bigotry, betrayal and mystery rain down on them in equal amounts.

Growing up gay and OUT in Mississippi in the 70s was unheard of. Well, I had no choice about the out part, and it sucked balls. This isn't a happy happy, joy joy story. This is where my nightmares come from.

Stuff happens, a lot; everyone has something going on. Cody's parents are divorced; his father's aloof, his mother hates his gut. Evelyn is smothered by an overprotective father. Luka struggles with a broken home and an uncertain future. Noel exists, the third son of a single, low-income father. Raquel has no parents; her brothers, gangster ties. Soren's, well Soren.

One fine summer afternoon, life steamrolls, and the six must stick together--perhaps to even stay alive.

Between Heaven and Hell there is a secret world which only the Elected few take part in. It is a world in which the superhuman interact with the more mundane. Among these rare few are two factions. Ian Randolph carries a lot of baggage and isn't the nicest man around. Then all of a sudden the boy with the bluest eyes storms into his life and throws his world off balance. Ian slowly learns to love and Micheal learns that love in real life is much more difficult, cruel, and deceiving, than in his books. Can they dodge all the curve balls that are thrown at them and carve out the relationship they both want?
