This is the story of the trials and troubles of Johnnie, born Edward John Lester in Scotland, in 1842

Although he came from a poor background, with the assistance of a wealthy uncle, Johnnie was able to complete his education and university studies to become a doctor, only to be falsely accused of housebreaking and larceny, and he is sentenced to transportation to the Swan Colony in Australia.

As someone who doesn't get embarrassed easily I sure was in for a shocker of a first day of my last year of high school. Everything was going fine in my boring school, boring town and boring life until HE came along...

I just wanted to get through the end of school and move on to bigger and better things. Apparently, that was too much to ask for. I should have known that life is never that straight-forward for me. Then suddenly a simple mistake occurred which was to have tragic and far-reaching consequences; consequences that have endured to the present day.
