At an all boys' boarding school, closeted Elijah finds on his bed a strange love note. A small poem. It's not a very good poem, but apparently another boarder at the school is in love with him! On the other side of the paper is an amazingly detailed sketch of the four of them - Elijah and his friends Reggie, Tiger and Owen. When a second poem and sketch sets a recurring precedent, Elijah enlists the help of his friends as he becomes increasingly obsessed with finding whoever is leaving him these cryptic, artistic symbols of love.

When fourteen year old Tommy had the private use of his neighbor’s computer while babysitting he discovered the answers to his concerns about his sexual feelings as well as the joy of viewing gay porn. By the time he was eighteen he was well educated in man sex, but had only experienced it with one classmate. That soon changed with a weekend of man to man experience with a married neighbor soon after his eighteenth birthday. When he entered freshman year at university he experienced passion and found love.

This story is one of a journey through life.

A boy discovers his homosexuality. He condemns himself for an attempted seduction of a more youthful friend. He seriously risks dying when he decides to take drugs.

The social environments described are those of Italy in the 70s.

This boy’s life is pervaded with love, lessons, hardships, deaths, and special moments. The road is not pleasant.

It is a perilous journey that deals with drug use, repentance, prostitution, pain, forgiveness, and hopefully redemption.

In the South, ice storms are rare and messy. It's possible to lose power and heat for days at a time.

They are also a great excuse for parties, if you've got power and heat.

This story is inspired by a big ice storm that hit Memphis, Germantown and Collierville some years ago.
