One Hundred and Fifty-Five Sonnets - 65. stacking high

.

Sonnet No. 129

Love is a flow that many try to staunch;

Think in that triage they do themselves good –

In granting childish fears total carte blanche

So good intentions are misunderstood.

I awoke to find your head upon my chest,

And in the morning light, you slept lullaby

To the sound you say soothes you now the best,

So I stroked your brow while you heard my heart sigh.

We are beyond the fear others prop up

And use to keep themselves isolated,

For in us there is a seamless link-up,

Knowing Love’s never late or belated.

I let your peaceful dream play out today,

For tomorrow’s tomorrow is on its way.

Sonnet No. 130

Melodies are these: ones with three refrains –

In whose structure I find total freedom,

Where my small mind can be adventuresome,

Stacking high a couplet with three quatrains.

Yet, my praise of one, its partner attains –

Like lovers whose equalities become

His husband’s settled equilibrium,

And in that mutual support, Love sustains.

So with liberty to go where I please,

My destination always finds one spot

Upon your person to tickle and tease,

For in your pleasure I find that I’m not

A man who with his freedom is at ease,

Unless with your image and love besot.
