One Hundred and Fifty-Five Sonnets - 2. mind's eye

.

Sonnet No. 3

In my mind's eye, you lie within

The snow-white crispness of your drifting bed sheet –

You're spread on your tummy, as I begin

To lift and let the sunshine your body meet.

My hand slides to caress your lower back,

Over skin that makes silk blush too warmly,

While under me, you rouse with feline knack,

And your arms pull me down so wantingly.

Yet, what is art, if not some sort of failure –

For if I can see you, and feel you here,

Can others come to grasp your total allure,

Stretched on poor words only I might hold dear.

But, Hesiod said matter is made to live

Only when Love comes and His sweet blessings give.

Sonnet No. 4

Sometimes I feel like the sand on the seashore,

Soaked and crushed and relentlessly ground down –

To the point where I can bear it no more –

But then, you wash over me, and I'm unbound.

If I could, I would cup your soul gently,

Like a scoop of seawater to hover

Near my head, and pour on me completely –

One infinity to wash the other.

For it is only time that is the wave,

That comes and goes and sadly leaves behind,

The crushed substitute that we make our grave

With the ever finer moments we find.

Not so with Love, for It is the water

That grinds Time to dust, now and forever.

Oh AC, these two .. I love these two. 3.. was sensual and hot. could feel my lover's hands, desire, yet he worries that others might want me too.. so nicely done..
4, So much love here, so beautifully crafted this one. Tells us of love, that can hold us up, revitalize our souls, be the air that sustains us.
Two beautifully crafted and sensitive sonnets, AC.

Thank you, Tim. Posting these got to me a little bit today, especially No. 4 and its message. I suppose it's the kind of poem the 20-year old me could only dream of writing one day...and, here it is.

Thanks again.

Three.
Very sensual and painted with a fine brush. I can see the ray of sunshine slowly walk over the back of the loved one, illuminating inch by inch of more naked skin. The grasp of others I not so much see as the fear that orthers might also notice his beauty, but more as the inadequacy the poet feels in his ability to catch that beauty in words.

Four.
This one is so poetic, timeless, universal. More words are superfluous.
Chapeau, AC.

Oh wow! I don't know what else to say! Like everyone said here sonnet 3 is sensual but I was totally taken by the sonnet 4...it was just beautiful!! It was timeless. From feeling like the sands crushed n soaked with sea water to the comaparing of time with waves that comes n goes n leaves behind the moments we take to our grave!

Great writing!!:)

(Sorry if I made any mistake in my depiction since m no expert but I just said what n how I felt after reading it)

Don't worry about expressing yourself :) You convey wonderful feelings and I feel lucky you're sharing them with me.

This is a great review, Aviana! Nos. 4 and 5 are rather special to me. I feel like I was getting into the swing of writing these Tony Sonnets. 'Beautiful' is a great compliment and I will take it happily.

Thanks again!

Lyssa is giving me some feedback via email, and with her permission, I'll place some of her reviews here for the rest of us to enjoy. Thanks.

Hi AC,

I just read Sonnet No. 4 and my thoughts run around it. It is beautifully written. I love the picture of sand and water. Shore and wave and how you bind the soul and love into this picture. It is really wonderful.

Isn't it like every wave brings the chance for sand and water to create something new together? A new form, a new outlining of the coast, a new possibility for sand castles, or to write words or scratch pictures in wet sand.

So every day -  lived in love - brings the chance to create something new for the lovers?

Thanks, Lyssa! I love your comments, and you seem to understand exactly what I was going for. Sometimes I think these earlier Sonnets lack something when compared to the latter ones, but other times (like now) I'm reminded how good some of them are.

Thank you for giving me your feedback and encouragement :)

I've read these already, but your status brought me back here again and I can't tell you how much I enjoy these! The first was very sensual and I got the strange urge for a back massage. The second was a touching love story.

Thank you for these. They were moving and put me in a good head space :).
