One Hundred and Fifty-Five Sonnets - 16. The Quantum Mechanics of Love

.

Sonnet No. 31

Quantum theory has it that we can be

Both here and there; where our touching becomes –

Within the space smaller than we can see –

The superstrings' glowing music that hums.

At the level where you and I are thus

Indivisible – not made of matter,

Nor worry or heartache – our animus,

The energy of love, sings the patter.

In the state living in the in-between,

You and I are undivided and shall

Never be cut by Time's knife, which is keen

To sever Earthy bonds so physical.

In the realm where we have never parted,

Our touch is here and there, right where we started.

Sonnet No. 32

You hard-pressed with loneliness in your room

Turn over all; uproot what you possess,

Tossing socks and CD's within that gloom,

Till all outward signs resemble a mess.

Within, we all wish to be together

With clear-cut organization which says

We are calm, cool and collected, whether

We are tormented throughout our own days.

So, you stand in the storm you have made,

Gathered around you the outward signal

That isolation is hard to make fade,

And that even hope is transitional.

But in such chaos, let me pick you up;

Let love show how to undo the blowup.

I have experienced this connection, but never considered it as a law of physics. What an orphic sonnet is number 31!

The concept two people can be connected the same way we observe particles behave from Quantum Physics is, I must admit, an idea which had never occurred to me. You spell it out so lovingly here, even proposing it would displant 'Time's knife' and hence the grave.

To me 32 is the plea by one person to calm and makes sense of the life of one he loves but who doesn't reflect that love--yet.
I guess Person-A needs to come up with more selling points. :)

A new concept for the connection between two people, Quantum Physics. You have given such a hope to me by your poem now I turned to believe some unseen connections. May be they are there. May be I haven't seen them yet. Your poem awakened such thought given me the hope. Such a wonderful poem.

And I don't have to tell about it. Because all there such descriptively explained and showed clearly. Why it got my heart, I am moving to other city so that I can join some courses to get a secured job. I am so excited now, and how you last two lines come to my life.

Wonderfully written. I liked them very much... :D

Thank you, Skinny D. Mentioning orphic – as in stemming from Orpheus – reminds me how the ancient Greeks credited same-sex love as having sprung from him, as well other beautiful things – like music and poetry! Yep, we all go hand in hand ;)

I love hearing your opinions, and getting rich feedback like this is food for the soul. Cheers for your wonderful review!

I am deeply in your debt for both these sonnets. The first, 31, gives me real hope and comfort in a time of pain. Number 32 also holds out the hand of encouragement, and it speaks to me in that I never, ever have my um...stuff...together.

Thank you, Parker. I appreciate your review more than I can say. If my words can convey hope and comfort in rough times, then I've exceeded my goals and feel humbled.

Thanks again, and I hope your trip home is a smooth one :)

Emi, thank you for a thoughtful and personal review; it's wonderful. Hope is essential, and never doubt that, please :)

I suspect that moving away from home will be a challenge for you, but new friends are waiting to be made. Best of luck with your studies, and I know you will do brilliantly.

Thanks again!
