Aditus' prompts and circumstances - 11. Lyrics - Poetry Prompt 3

Write two stanzas of lyrics. Follow the 8-syllable/6-syllable pattern as you go. Base it on the first emotions you remember having when you woke up this morning. This is practice, so it is up to you if you wish to incorporate rhymes, and feel free to make the poem humorous if you like.

First Light

Too early, and still it is not,

my eyes stay firmly closed.

The warmth's waging war with the cold,

I don't want to hear -but-

A white cup beckons me over,

it's smell ambrosial.

That's cheating my dear, I tell you,

one kiss and time to go.

I'm not a morning person.

But isn't that the best way to wake up? With a kiss and a cup of coffee (it was coffee, wasn't it?)?

And as AC said, very mellow. It was a very nice visual: under the covers, nice and warm, knowing you'd have to take the covers off and get cold, smelling the aroma from the cup, and of course, the good morning kiss. :P

Loved it, Addy! :)

But I had to come out of bed! You're right though, it's better with a cup and a kiss.

Thank you Lisa!

I liked it. Who hasn't lain in bed with only a cup of something warm to tempt them out?
Thank you, Percy! You said that right, to tempt me out.

The sweetness in the last two lines is just so great :)
Thank you! :) Without you and AC I wouldn't have dreamed of doing something so organized like this.
