Musings of a Messed Up Mind - 21. Turn The Page

Turn The Page

Inside the pain overflows

So little time lies ahead

My body gives up the ghost

I just want to let it go

Because at the end of things

There’ll be no more hurt

Just the peace that blackness brings

Time holds an echo of me

I pray that you’ll recall me

When fiery stars light the sky

With their red tails all aglow

No tears—as their fire fades

Keep me well, deep in your heart

Memory of me is yours

I live in poems I share

Turn the page and find me there

I keep you now in the poems you share; you are alive in my memory, alive in my brain, alive in my heart. You compel me to respond to the echoes of your cries in this poem. I can't remain silent at the sounds and images you write. Hold fast to the beauty in what you write, for this is beautiful - and difficult, too. And this reader, at least, will hold fast with you.

All four verses,stanzas/quatrains... are hauntingly beautiful... but the last one transcends... I've been there, and I've felt this, tim... the desire for peace, yet is it peace if we are not around to know it? The longer we toil, the longer we fight, the more pain we bear... the more pages we will leave, and you just left another brilliant one that will carry your voice through limitless time. Superb, my friend... Gary....

Hey tim

I Liked this.

I know you are a talented writer so I am not "amazed" by what you have written. I do, however, appreciate how capably you tell a complex story in four short stanzas.

As always, nicely done.

Thank you Reader. I appreciate your comments and for your friendship and support. Means a lot to me...

And how might I be remembered ... lives are like footsteps in the snow ... oft they only remain until either a chill wind obliterates or more happily the warmth of a blessed sun eases them away ... words spoken or written remain as the memories of what has passed.

Namaste.

Unless were very special none of us are remembered for long... which once more makes me feel like a fruit fly... thanks dugh for reading my poetry... i do appreciate it..

I think it's everyone's hope that they will be remembered fondly. For artists and authors we hope our work will be thought of in the same way. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Your work has touched a lot of people and is held in the hearts and minds of many.

Yeah we are for a few years, but then we are dust like so many before us. But I'm really not gonna care am I? I try not to think about it too much.. but lately..

Thanks LL for reading this and for your comments. I appreciate them..
