I was reading something this week and it mentioned shooting stars, so that stuck in my brain as a good idea for some prompts. Of course, I can't remember for the life of me what the heck I was reading And I've had Bad Company's Shooting Star playing in my head ever since as well. So let's shoot for the stars and see what we come up with. After a bit of a sing-along, of course PT Prompt #251 You've had a week from hell and on the drive home from work, you see a shooting star and instantly make a wish. What was the wish and did it come true? PT Prompt #252 Astronomers discover that there's a meteor shower on a collision course with Earth. It's an endgame event they say will destroy all life on the planet. It's due to arrive in one week. What do you do for that week and what happens when the meteor shower arrives? The Prompt Team event is in full swing, and judging from the response we got, there will be a lot of stories to read in December! Like it or not, the New Year is fast approaching, which means so is the first writing event of 2025. It's hard to believe this will be our second writing event in honor of our dear friend Carlos Hazday. For newer members to the site, Carlos was a fixture of the GA community. He welcomed and mentored new members and authors, was a great advocate of and participant in our annual anthology, and never failed to give his honest opinion. He has been sorely missed since his passing. Carlos had a tradition of posting something new for his readers on January first, so we will keep that tradition going with another writing event in his honor. Auld Lang Syne - In honor of Carlos Hazday Let's raise a glass to our beloved Carlos! Auld lang syne, my friend! 🍾 Anyone is welcome to contribute a story, letter, poem, or whatnot on a topic that resonates with them with respect to Carlos, be it bikes, tattoos, Florida, politics, writing, or something else. The rules are simple: No minimum length One submission per author, containing one chapter, or one prologue plus one chapter. The usual GA content guidelines do apply. Please use appropriate genres, tags, and story/chapter notes as applicable for your submission along with any message you wish to add to your tribute. DO NOT SET THE PUBLISH DATE/TIME! I have an idea for mine, although it's more of an idea of an idea rather than anything cohesive or resembling an actual story.

I will miss the status updates feature, even though I did find myself using it less. I still read them almost daily and posted otter memes on @wildone's wall and penguin memes on @Slytherin's. This forum will serve the same purpose, though. And we get to have all the In Otter News pics in one place!

I appreciate having the new forum to replace the status updates. Otherwise where would I post all the otter memes for @wildone?

This is a very good story by Aditus. It's clear that this is a personal piece, since the emotions come through quite strongly. Definitely have tissues ready.

The Prompt Team - myself, @Cole Matthews, and @Aditus thought it would be fun to have an event highlighting GA prompts. Participants will have their prompt responses featured in the December 5th prompt blog. To participate: PM one of the Prompt Team members. We will assign you a random prompt from our prompt bank. Prompt responses may be any length, but if they are below 1,000 words, then they must be part of a collection. If they are 1,000 words or more, then they may be posted as a stand-alone piece.
