Congratulations Stellar, Ga's Newest Signature Author

In the two years since Stellar joined GA and began posting his first story, he hasn't post a ton of work. But what he has... whew!! If you like sci-fi, at all, you have to check out his 175k story, Hidden Sunlight. A hugely popular story, Stellar delved into his world bringing a vast array of details to life for his readers. There are tons of unexpected twists and turns as his main character, Shay, tries to come to grips with a series of events he couldn't have imagined in his wildest dreams. Th

Happy New Year and Announcements

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Over the next few weeks, we will be doing a number of things around the site to simplify and streamline things.  We have a very large sprawl of forums at this point that are semi-active or less.  We are working on consolidating those so that only what we need is around.  The Announcement forum is the first thing that is highly visible that is getting removed.  We will post Announcements in the most appropriate blog going forward.  When we do so, we'll use

Has it been 16 Years? Yup.

My, how time flies.  16 years!  The site started on September 13, 2002.  The story on that can be found on our 15th Anniversary page here: https://www.gayauthors.org/anniversary/   This year, I just want to say:   THANK YOU! We are here today because all of you are still here posting stories, reading stories and sharing in our community.  So, in the spirit of our great community, how about you share with us what Gay Authors means to you?

Toss-Up Tuesday: Perspective

So - the format for Toss-up Tuesday is... a toss up /ducking       But then again, so is life. (ya, I should write greeting cards, eh?)   You go along, having a great year, husband and kids busy with work, school and baseball. Your days are watching their games and practices or working on campaigns and convention plans. Then you go in for a routine follow-up, because of the lymphoma that you kicked four years ago. And on that July 5, 2012 day, instead of "See you in six months", I get "It'

2019 GA Year in Review

As we head into Gay Authors' seventeenth holiday season, and the end of the decade, I wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on our community in this past year. With that in mind, first and foremost, I want to thank all of you for making Gay Authors what it is.  We wouldn't be here without our authors writing stories, our readers reading those stories, and everyone talking together about those stories.  That is the root of our community, and that focus is what we should keep in mind as we

Ga's Newest Signature Author: Andy78

Promising Author no more - please join us in congratulating our newest Signature Author, Andy78! Between his 34 different published stories, tons of reviews written about others stories as well as responding to over 93% of the reviews of his own stories, and all of his forum posts and works as a site moderator, you wonder if he's somehow manipulating time to be able to do it all   Andy78 has a few longer stories, but it is his wonderful short stories that truly capture the imagination and mak

Drama for Authors & Volunteers!

Heads up, Authors! We're still working on creating a great new sub-system for genres for authors, and during Myr's recent mine for data, one thing we noticed was that "Drama" is being used for many stories with no other genres on a TON of stories. Drama is going away with the new sub-genre system, and we want everyone to have a heads up that those stories will need to be moved to the correct new genre or sub-genre. Is your story primarily a romance? Comedy? One of the sub-genres we're coming out

We've already announced one event for 2024, and the first story for Carlos' tribute has been posted.  I'm super excited to announce what else we have planned for next year.  It should be a great year with lots of opportunities to participate in site events! So without further ado, here is what's coming up in 2024.  2024 Writing Events Long May You Run - A Tribute to Carlos Hazday - Due December

The Ugly P Word

Which P word? Well it be similar to the way I stole that title from a Skype conversation with Wildone... Figured it out yet?   Plagiarism.   Yep, a thief struck again. I'm sure many of you remember my rant from a few weeks ago about how one of my stories, and 6 other authors' works were plagiarized on another site. A conversation ensued about how to protect your work, as an author, but I never had a chance to post it officially on the site. Well, this time we had a thief try to post their st

Get Featured in the Blog!!!

So, normally today would be an Improve & Encourage feature, and while I do have one, I am extremely low on blog content, so that feature will continue next month so that I can get the word out about the various blog opportunities available to authors. I need at least one more "Favorite Self-Written Story" and then I'll have one of those features ready as well. I am also adding a story recommendation opportunity so that readers can send me their favorite stories without having to write a full

Thank You to Our Moderation Team

Continuing on with our week of thanks, the Admin team wants to call out the amazing volunteers on our Moderation Team!! When most of us think of moderation they think it is all about discipline. We all try really hard to educate first. Then in limited cases, we do have to let some know what they are doing, how it is harming the site, and what we need to do to avoid it in the future. Due to the actions by our Mods, this is about always the only occurrence due to their willingness to help eve

Catfishing

Catfishing I’m sure you have heard of it, and I’m sure you know what it is, but here is the definition that I found on the word: INFORMAL•US lure (someone) into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona. "he was being catfished by a cruel prankster" Being that we are an online community we are always prime for catfishers to join and then lure possible members to lie to. We do have members who come and for their own personal sense of saf

Blast From The Past!

This isn't the first time we've celebrated the beginnings of GayAuthors.org (nor will it be the last). In December 2006, we had a great newsletter entry that we want to share again with you, in this Blast From the Past. We also have a bit of an update posted below the entry. Enjoy!       Dec. 2006 A Man, A Computer & A Dream The Birth of Gay Authors   It was September 13, 2002 when the vision of one man began to become a reality. Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

On the site for the last while there have been discussions with the members on the public forums as well as privately in our Staff forum about the use of pictures and what is allowed on GA and what isn’t.   As a site we strive very much on keeping most of GA free for all our members and guests. Our main revenue streams are Premium Membership and ad revenue from Google Ad Sense. Our Premium members contribute monthly or yearly to help defray the server costs as well as the helping to run the po

Thank You to Our Blog Contributor!

On the second day of Thanksgiving, my true love gave to meeeee....   Oh wait. Wrong holiday!     I think @wildone 's Weekly Wrap Up is influencing me Anyway, our week of Thanksgiving continues with extending our appreciation to our fearless, resident Coyote Cub, Aaron!  Aaron stepped up to the plate to bring us two of GA's most popular featured blogs: Ask an Author and Author Guess Who.  His blog posts are always humorous, interesting, and informative, and never fail to draw lots of comments!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Thanksgiving Day in the US today, and the Admin Team here at GA would like to continue our week of thanks by thanking YOU for making GA the amazing, welcoming, supportive place it is.  GA Staff work behind the scenes to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible, and we do it for the love of GA's community at large.  So, to all the readers, authors, poets, Premium subscribers, members, lurkers, commenters, and editors/beta readers, the Admin Team would like to say a heartfelt:

Thank You to Our Prompt Team!

Prompts have always been an integral part of GA and something to look forward to every Friday.  Starting with our dear Comicfan and now continuing with the Prompt Team, seeing how authors come up with different takes on the weekly prompts is always exciting.  Prompts have sparked some popular longer works and also some great short stories and character sketches.  I always look forward to seeing what my fellow Prompt Team members come up with every Friday.  So, the Admin Team is continuing our we

Thank You To Our Review Team

Hi Everyone!!! The Admins here at GA are thankful for the groups that help us out throughout the year for the time and effort that they put into make GA the premiere gay stories sites on the internet!  After discussing, GA would like to extend an official public thank you to our Review Team. Month in and month out they take turns reading a story from scratch and doing up a review. This hopefully piques your interest in a story you may not have read or maybe an author you have not read.
