Struggling to make amends

I happen to be a firm believer in making up for misdeeds. I've always been told that it's the right thing to do. Sometimes our own selfishness can cause us to forget what people mean to us. Only through painstaking steps can we repair what has been broken. Even when we take these steps, there may be times when it isn't enough. Words can only do so much. It's so frustrating to watch as people no longer interact with you the way they once did. Maybe I my own personal issues are too much for some t

I was trying to come up with a witty entry about "Three Broads" I ran into in the past few days, but I've got to go pick up a new load in a few and can't stay on topic for any length of time. Okay, the first "broad" is my favorite: the French Broad River in Tennessee and North Carolina, mostly in TN though. It's the name. French Broad sounds so erotic, so Rita Hayworth or seductive like Ingrid Bergman. Makes me try to imagine Burt Lancaster or Humphrey Bogart, a baguette, a bottle of cheap wine,

Hey, I'm Barack Obama...the Muslim?

Ok, so I'm sick and tired of hearing people talk about whether or not Barack Obama is a Muslim or not, so let me break this down for you all.   For the last 5 months, all we've heard about is the Reverend Wright controversy, followed by the Father Pfleger fiasco. Now, considering that he's had pastor/priest issues and not Imam issues, how in the world could any logical human being come to the conclusion that Barack Obama is anything but a Christian? Obviously he was attending Christian servic

Stuck in Traffic. Please send Food and Coffee.

I drove back from my parent's this evening. What typically takes me 6 hours, if I hit a bit of traffic and don't speed on the gravel roads (but what else are gravel roads for?) took me nine hours to complete. This was due to CalTrans deciding it needed to fix every section of every freeway, all at once. Tonight, as a matter of fact. There were seven different instances of lanes removed from traffic, in four cases the freeways were reduced to a single lane of traffic. But you know, those I could

McCain the flip flopper~vs~Obama the flip flopper

John McCain, the Red state flip flopper   Having long been a member of his party's more moderate wing on a number of issues, Mr McCain began adopting more right-wing positions during the primary campaign.   Immigration   Last year, Mr McCain was one of the key backers of President Bush's plan for "comprehensive immigration reform", which would have created "paths to citizenship" for illegal immigrants, while investing more money in border security.   The plan was very unpopular with t

F@#$'n Moving Again!

Not me, nope rest assured when it is my turn to move; anyone and everyone will have scattered to the four winds. Nope looks like i will be spending another weekend in the glorious company of my cousin.   I like the guy I really do. Its just I have enough shit to do already.   bleh this is pointless. I really need to do something more constructive with this blog rather then bitch all the time.   Steve

Perspective

I have always thought that learning from our own mistakes of the past can help us move forward. For me, there's always been a tendency to be too dependent of other people. I have never truly allowed myself to stand alone. This has led to a lot of problems for me, and I realize I must stop doing this if I ever want a good life for myself, one where I live free of guilt. At the same time, I've also tried to be an appeaser. I have put others' needs above my own. I can't do that anymore either. Basi

Taking some time

Every once in a while we lose sight of what is most important in life. Chief among these important things is taking care of one's self. That is something I had forgotten for a while. I had allowed myself to get caught up in something that just isn't needed right now. The only way to fix it is to distance myself for a while. I would like to personally thank Trebs for the advice he has given me. I have gained new perspective where a lot of things are concerned. I was at a point where I wanted to b

Fired, rehired, fired, rehired...all in one day

So yesterday was interesting. As most of you know, I work for a golf course not too far from my house working on golf carts. I repair the ones that are down and I maintain the rest of them. Part of my job is keeping the shop in order. I organize and hang belts, hoses, and tools. I also order replacement parts and keep track of inventory. Well, until March I was the only one doing the job, but since I've been getting more and more yard maintenance work, I've really cut back at the golf course, s

HAVE A PENIS! HOLY EFF!   So, it's Rich's birthday today! Funny story... I brought home stuff to make him a birthday cake, German Chocolate, cause I have mad skills like that, and he totally didn't know, so after I got home from work, I baked it and while it was cooling, I took a shower and chatted some with my Angel, and then I went to put the icing on it. I'm working away furiously with my spatula and some coconut pecan icing and of course my cell phone rings, so I tell my daughter to answe

Dates, Tickets, Counciling, and Parties

A brief recount of my weekend and week thus far:   All last week Luke kept pestering me about not spending enough time with him (he's clingy...and I occasionally make long posts). So we agree to meet up Friday night. So I'm tired Friday night, but I fix myself up and get ready anyway, wouldn't be fair to cancel on him right? WELL, I call him, right on time mind you, and he announces that he's gone off to the movies with Scott, John, and another guy. Based on the way he explained it, I read

I must be a total freak

My mind plays tricks on me. There's no way around it. I wish it would stop, but it doesn't seem to be. I find myself questioning people's intentions and misunderstanding some things people say. It's like I've been in my own little world where reality is bent. I have to get to a point where this is no longer the case. I need a sense of clarity and a sense of direction and purpose. I think I'm figuring out that depression creates an alternative reality where you don't always see the good in people

Procrastination Extrodinare

Beh, I have a boatload - it seems- of stuff to do and no motivation to get them done. To compound matters, if I do have the motivation to get them done other things simply get in the way.   On the lacking motivation side -   I want to get a general redesign of my site here at GA done, coupled with a redesign of my personal website. I'd even like to get my writing up on my personal site, replace some of the older out-date. The GA redesign is mostly going to be behind the scenes stuff, as I am

Why not?

I've decided to take a couple computer classes in the fall. It seems like a good idea. I've an interesting relationship with technology. Like all other things, I'm neither fish nor fowl when it comes to technical literacy. By the standards of most of my coworkers (particularly with my last job, marginally less so with my current job) and those I grew up with, I'm a techno-wizard. To most of my age peers, I'm a howling technophobe, mostly because I dislike using text messages. Silly I suppose, bu

One of those surveys that starts on Viv's blog and eventually makes its way to mine

Are you tan? Goodness no! I'm naturally a very fair-skinned person and I'm obsessive about skin care/health. Tanning is a really bad thing for someone like me to do to their skin.   I occasionally use moisturizer with a subtle tanner in it, and I think I have a decent 'glow/colour' thing going on (I'm in good health), so I don't have the pale goth look either.   Do you use proactive? Nope, like I said, I take good care of my skin and I'm lucky to have nice skin anyway. Do you own chan

Concentration... or should I say, "Lack thereof,"

I recently started taking Wellbutrin. It seems like ever since I started taking it, I have a hard time concentrating for any length of time. I can't write very much, and reading seems to be just as difficult. It's really frustrating too. I like to get lost in a story whether I'm a reader or an author. It's like Wellbutrin does something in my brain that makes it difficult to focus. It does seem to improve my moods though. Hopefully I will adjust soon and my brain will be able to function. I'm al

Silly Survey #372... and a PS...

Are you tan? I have more tan lines in different places and shapes... I even have a flip-flop tan line...   Do you use proactive? Nope, thankfully I have fairly nice skin and always have.   Do you own chanel perfume? NO! I own Romance by Ralph Lauren which I rarely wear, and a bunch of Victoria Secret stuff, but the one I wear most is called Pure Seduction.   Do you shower daily? Mmhmm, sometimes twice.   Do you go to the tanning bed? NEVER! I think that's like scary and totally pit

Death wish? I think so...

With Luck A Rocky Landing   I wasn't sure where this should go, so I opted for my blog. Anyway, these people have lost their minds and they jump from rock to rock. It's enough to make even C James cringe with fear. I mean, they could break their bones doing this. I don't care how drunk I get, I could never do this. The locals cite some kind of adrenaline rush as the reason for doing this. I watched the video, and I was wondering why anyone would want to do this. It scares the shit out of me ju

The Day I've Been Waiting For....

This past few weeks have been very crazy... So Today was our famous Family Night we do every year for the parent's. Each of our groups do a dance for their parent's, then as an entire group we all dance together. Let's just say the thing takes a LOT more time to prepare and get everything ready, then it lasts itself. We spent the last two weeks, teaching our kids their dances, having them practice hard, then we had to figure out a little skit, make our 7x10 ft posters for each group, and still b
